Meeting with Islamic Jihad leader Al-Nakhalah, Fatah Secretary "emphasized Fatah is prepared to achieve reconciliation and hold elections to renew the legitimacy of the Palestinian government" while Al-Nakhalah said it "is a national obligation to establish an independent Palestinian state whose capital is Jerusalem"
