PA official honors murderers
“Two days ago [Jan. 18, 2014], Fatah’s main north Hebron branch convened a conference of the regional organizational branch of Surif (a Palestinian village near Hebron), marking the beginning of [a round of] conferences of the [Fatah] regional organizational branches, at the end of which the central branch convention [will be held].
The conference was attended by Fatah Central Committee Member and Commissioner of Arab Relations and Relations with China Abbas Zaki, the secretary of [Fatah’s] main north Hebron Branch and Surif Mayor Muhammad Lafi (Abu Ala) [parenthesis in source] and released prisoners Ziyad and Mustafa Ghneimat…
[Fatah Central Committee Member and Commissioner of Arab Relations Abbas] Zaki praised the village of Surif and the history of its struggle – [it being] the village of Martyr (Shahid) Ibrahim Abu Dayyeh, released prisoners Ziyad and Mustafa Ghneimat, and prisoner Muhammad Al-Tous (Abu Shadi) [parenthesis in source] - and wished [the latter] a speedy release from the Israeli occupation prison.”
Ibrahim Abu Dayyeh was the commander of an Arab militia during the 1948 War of Independence.
Ziyad Mahmoud Ghneimat and Mustafa Ghneimat were each serving a life sentence for shooting and murdering two Israeli citizens, Meir Ben Yair and Michal Cohen, in a forest on June 27, 1985. They were released in October 2013, as two of the 104 prisoners whom Israel agreed to release to fulfill the PA's precondition for renewing negotiations.
Muhammad Al-Tous – a Fatah terrorist serving a life sentence for a series of crimes. He was the commander of a terrorist cell that attacked 5 civilian buses in September 1985, wounding 16 passengers. He also issued the command to murder Zalman Abolnik in March 1984 and Meir Ben Yair and Michal Cohen in July 1985, and took part in the murder of Mordechai Suissa and Edna Harari in October 1985. He has been in prison since 1985.
