Abbas Zaki
Abbas Zaki is a senior official in Fatah. He is currently a member of the Fatah Central Committee and (since 2009) the Commissioner of Relations with Arab Countries and Relations with China. He was the PLO Ambassador in Lebanon until 2009 [Ma'an, independent Palestinian news agency, Sept. 10, 2009].
Click to see more details about Abbas Zaki's political career in report from the Washington Institute

He remains a close associate of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and has also been chosen on several occasions to deliver speeches in Chairman Abbas’ name.
Abbas and Zaki’s close working relationship is an indicator of Zaki’s seniority in PA government, thereby making his statements and positions on various issues all the more significant. Palestinian Media Watch has documented numerous statements by Abbas Zaki glorifying terror and denying Israel’s right to exist. For instance, Zaki stated in 2011 on Al-Jazeera TV that that the goal is for Israel to be “removed from existence.” He went on to say that “this is not a [stated] policy. You can’t say it to the world. You can say it to yourself.”

The following section documents relevant statements made by Abbas Zaki:
Fatah official: “The weapons of the resistance are pure… Whoever harms the weapons is not a patriot” but “a traitor” “Let these weapons multiply”
Source: Al-Alam, local Hebron radio station, Nov. 9, 2017

Alam radio host:
"In Israel, everyone is always asking: 'What will happen with the weapons of the resistance?'”
Fatah Movement Central Committee member Abbas Zaki: "The weapons of the resistance are pure, and must be kept. We are increasing our training daily and strengthening our capabilities for the appropriate day, because we are not like sheep going to the slaughter. Whoever harms the weapons of the resistance is not a patriot, and we must look at him in a different light, because these weapons are being used under occupation in a manner that is in accordance with the national decision. They can be beneficial if they are used, and they have a great effect on the other side, Israel. If there was peace and Israeli withdrawal, then perhaps this [issue] could be raised, and we would not treat one who raises it as a traitor... It is forbidden to talk about the topic of the weapons at all... We have brigades in the Gaza Strip, and now we will resume arming them even more... In the Fatah Central Committee we forbid raising the topic [of disarmament]. Let these weapons multiply and become more sophisticated... All talk of disarmament is consistent with [the interests of] Israel, while the talk of controlling [the weapons] is preparation for the coming day of battle."

Fatah official: “The ominous Balfour Promise is the greatest crime” ever committed against the Palestinians, Israel was founded for colonial reasons
Source: WAFA, official PA news agency, Oct. 31, 2017
“Fatah Movement Central Committee member and [Fatah] General Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki issued a call to the national parties and progressive political forces in the Arab homeland for the 100th anniversary of the Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration), in which he demanded that they consider Nov. 2, 2017, as a day of Arab rage in all of the Arab capitals and cities... Zaki explained that this is meant to force Britain to bear its moral, political, humanitarian, and legal responsibility for the consequences of the oppressive promise, and to demand that it correct the historical injustice that led to the uprooting of our Palestinian people, its expulsion, and the occupation of its homeland... He said that the ominous Balfour Promise is the greatest crime that has been committed against the Palestinian people for 100 years, and it is a type of strengthening of the strategic interests of the colonialist forces, which adopted, supported, and strengthened the Zionist project, goals, and presence in Palestine, the heart of the Arab homeland. This was in order to prevent its unity, take over its resources, divide it, split it, and undermine its stability, so that Israel would always be a hostile body to its surroundings and require backing from the colonialist states.”

Fatah official accuses Israel of being a part of colonialist plan to segregate Arab states
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Sept. 15, 2017
Headline: “The [PA] Ministry of Information held a conference regarding the Palestinian petition to the UN”
“The [PA] Ministry of Information in Ramallah yesterday [Sept. 14, 2017] held a political conference regarding the Palestinian petition to the UN and [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas’ speech at the 20th session of the UN in September 2017 in New York.
Fatah Movement Central Committee members [Fatah Commissioner of Treasury and Economy] Dr. Muhammad Shtayyeh and [Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations] Abbas Zaki spoke at the conference…
Zaki emphasized that the colonialist states have a plan prepared since the time of Muhammad Pasha (i.e., an Ottoman Albanian who became the ruler of Egypt and who is considered the founder of modern Egypt because of the numerous reforms he made), according to which Arab states will become states divided into sections and will be financially, industrially, and militarily subordinate to the superpowers, particularly after the discovery of oil in the Arab Gulf states. Israel was a product of the colonialist states in the past, and afterwards the US came and took [over] the colonialist project through its continued control of the world, and the Arab states in particular, and defending Israel as its station and military base. However, with the passing of years, Israel has become a burden to [the US].”
Fatah official: Jewish patriarch Abraham was a Muslim, “which refutes the Zionists’ (i.e., Jewish) claims” about the Cave of the Patriarchs and the Temple Mount
Source: Al-Bawaba, Egyptian news website, Sept. 1, 2017
Headline: “Fatah leader: The [Eid Al-Adha] holiday prayers at the Ibrahimi Mosque are a challenge against the occupation”
“Fatah Movement Central Committee member and [Fatah] Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki emphasized… in a statement to [the Egyptian news website] Al-Bawaba News today, Friday [Sept. 1, 2017], that… Israel is moving in the direction of unprecedented extremism, which makes it necessary to leave the deceptive illusion of peace and prepare to confront the occupation on all levels. He explained that Ibrahim (i.e., the Biblical figure Abraham), the father of the prophets, was a monotheistic Muslim (sic., in Jewish traition Abraham was the first Jew and lived over 2,000 years before Islam began), which refutes the Zionists’ claims about the Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs) and the Al-Aqsa Mosque (i.e., the Temple Mount). Therefore, the Arab and Islamic nation must have an active presence in order to deter the occupation and its steps against the Palestinian people, its land, and its holy sites.”

He said: ‘[Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu insists on being a leader of the extremists and continuing his racist policies.’ Zaki emphasized that he is certain of victory thanks to the resolve of the Palestinian people and the adherence of its leadership to the rights. He said: ‘The members of our people in Jerusalem forced the occupation government to decide to remove the metal detectors and the cameras from the gates of the Al-Aqsa Mosque gates (see note below –Ed.).’”

Fatah official on Lebanese TV: Terrorists “could have killed 20 Israelis” but chose the Temple Mount which has “dangerous significance”; shows a “failure of the political path”
Source: YouTube channel of Al-Mayadeen TV (Lebanon), July 14, 2017
YouTube channel of Lebanese Al-Mayadeen TV, interview with Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki

Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki: "The source of this operation (i.e., terror attack at the Temple Mount on July 14, 2017, 2 murdered; see note below) is in the depths of the '48 territories (i.e., Israel), from Umm Al-Fahm, by people that hold Israeli identity cards, and they know the changes that are taking place within Israel better than anyone…
These young people, instead of coming from Umm Al-Fahm to Jerusalem, could have killed 20 Israelis, but they chose Friday, and chose that their spirits would ascend to Paradise from the place where Prophet [Muhammad] ascended to Heaven, and this has dangerous significance…
In a situation where there is a void in national activity and failure of the political path, nobody can stop people who want to die…
I foresee that we are standing before a severe eruption. It is impossible to know how this eruption will manifest . Whether we condemn or support [it is irrelevant]; the operation was carried out by people from the '48 territories who have Israeli identity cards…

Fatah official: “If there was an Arab group consciousness and true nationalism, six million Israelis would be unable to rule 400 million Arabs"
Source: Official PA radio station The Voice of Palestine, May 15, 2017
The Voice of Palestine, the official PA radio station, speech in Ramallah by Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki for Nakba Day

Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki: "I have a message for the Arabs: The reason for the Nakba (i.e., “the catastrophe,” Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel) that we went through in 1948 is a report on finding oil in the Arabian Peninsula, and a report of a committee [that decided] on the establishment of the State of Israel, which separates the western part of the Arab world from its east, and it rules over your natural treasures, and prevents you from rebuilding the civilization that the West took from you. Arabs, your treasures are in your enemy's hands. If there was an Arab group consciousness and true nationalism, six million Israelis would be unable to rule 400 million Arabs."

Palestinians commemorate Nakba Day on May 15, the day after the establishment of Israel. On May 15, 1948, combined forces from Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Iraq joined local Arab forces in an attempt to eradicate the newly established State of Israel. The Nakba (Arabic = catastrophe) refers to the establishment of Israel, and the subsequent loss of the war, including the killing and displacement of Arab civilians that occurred during the war.

Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki: "We have a talented man whom Allah loved and made people love, and his name is Abu Jihad. He said: “Continue to attack!” ... After Abu Jihad died as a Martyr, 24 people who accompanied him died as Martyrs out of love for the leader, because the only enemy is Israel. [Abu Jihad] aspired to conquer the [Israeli] Ministry of Defense and turned Dalal Mughrabi into a republic for 15 hours between Haifa and Tel Aviv. Therefore, O prisoners, O my beloved, if you are destined for death as Martyrs, then Abu Jihad stands before your eyes. And if you are destined for victory, standing before your eyes are those important people of stature who, despite Israel’s hostility, left the prisons."

"The [Fatah] Movement must be revitalized in actuality by joining the civilian popular resistance (i.e., term used by Palestinian leaders to refer to and include violence –Ed.) against the settlement and the occupation forces with tens of thousands of the movement's activists. They will be doubled in a moment by the national and Islamic forces and parties and the masses of our great people joining. This is because what unifies us is the battle and not dialogue, which has not brought any benefit on any of the different levels. If these masses succeed in blocking the bypass roads, Israel and its settlers will not remain [there] because the incentives for their presence are their freedom [of movement] and the lack of resistance in actuality to their presence as invading colonialists on our Palestinian land."

PA official: Arabs must resolve Sunni-Shi’ite conflict because it strengthens Israel’s “Jewish state” argument

Note: Palestinian leaders routinely deny any inherent Jewish connection to the land of Israel and constantly refer to Israel as a "colonialist entity."

YouTube channel of Lebanese Al-Mayadeen TV, interview with Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki

Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki: "The situation is dangerous and instruments of religion are being used [to increase the danger]. [US public servant] Susan Rice said in 2005: 'We want an Islam that suits us.' [US public servant] Martin Indyk said in 2002: 'For Israel, we must change the conflict into a conflict between Sunnis and Shi'ites.' Now they have started to talk about Sunni and Shi’ite states. The time has come for us to develop an Arab-Persian dialogue and close this matter, so that we do not give Israel an excuse to talk about a Jewish state."

Susan Rice and Martin Indyk are American public servants who have served in various positions. Rice and Indyk were senior fellows in the Brookings Institution foreign policy program in the years these alleged quotes were attributed to them. Among his many positions, Indyk served as US Ambassador to Israel in 1995-1997 and 2000-2001. PMW was unable to locate any quotes correlating to those attributed to them by Abbas Zaki.

Zaki said today, Wednesday [Jan. 11, 2017], in an interview with Radio Mawtini: 'The transfer of the American embassy to Jerusalem will be a sign of the end of the world.' He added: 'The attack against the place of [Prophet] Muhammad’s Ascent to Heaven and Jesus' resurrection contradicts the religious and international understandings,' and he warned against the terrible dangers whose course cannot be predicted. Zaki emphasized that no power in the world can prevent the Palestinians, Muslims, and Christians as one from carrying out their national obligation to defend their occupied capital, and said: 'There is no Palestinian state without Jerusalem.'
Zaki said that he is convinced that the statements of US President-elect [Donald] Trump that were used during the election campaign cannot be implemented on the ground in Palestine and noted that this trend appeared in the 1960s when [former Israeli Prime Minister David] Ben-Gurion proposed it in order to establish the occupation state in Jerusalem and to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque in order to establish the alleged Temple."

Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the State of Palestine

Greetings, and to the point:

On my behalf and on behalf of my colleagues in the Fatah Movement Central Committee and Revolutionary Council, I send you - and through you to His Honor [Russian] President Vladimir Putin and the friend, the Russian people – the most warm and sincere condolences over the death of Russian Ambassador in Turkey [Andrey Karlov] as a result of a terrorist assassination act, which was carried out by a criminal terror gang devoid of all human and moral values.
This criminal act of terror targeted the role of friend Russia in the war against these dark Takfir (i.e., the act of accusing other Muslims of heresy) gangs, which are supported by several regional powers; this brave role, which is meant to protect the security and stability of the peoples of the region. Fatah official calls on Arab states to reexamine their relations with the US in light of US embassy move to Jerusalem
Source: Ma’an, independent Palestinian news agency, Dec. 20, 2016
Headline: “Zaki: Transferring the American embassy to Jerusalem is a scandalous violation of the international institutions’ resolutions”
“Member of the Central Committee of the Fatah Movement and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki called on the international community to take the required steps against the new American administration, if the promise of US President[-elect] Donald Trump to transfer the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is indeed implemented.
He added that if the American administration transfers its embassy to Jerusalem, this will constitute a scandalous and blatant violation of the international resolutions, and a clear violation of the American foreign policy on the issue, as the previous administrations have not dared to do this since the occupation of Jerusalem in 1967.
Zaki said this in an exclusive statement in response to the appointment of David Friedman as US Ambassador to Israel, and in response to his [Friedman’s] statements when he said that he eagerly anticipates traveling to Israel and working from within ‘Israel’s eternal capital,’ as he put it…
Zaki said that if the American administration does indeed do this, it will expose its true face – that it is completely biased in favor of the Israeli occupation, and is not interested at all in the peace process.
He added that Arab states that still rely on the American role in the region need to raise their voices and make their firm statements on the issue heard.
Likewise, Zaki called on the Arab and Islamic states to reexamine their relations with the US.”

Abbas advisor: "The Palestinian search and rescue forces took part in putting out the fires in Israel out of ethical and humane motives"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Nov. 25, 2016
Official PA TV, Friday prayers at the PA’s presidential headquarters, sermon by Supreme Shari’ah Judge Mahmoud Al-Habbash in the presence of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, Secretary-General of Abbas’ Presidential Office Al-Tayeb Abd Al-Rahim, and Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki

Supreme Shari’ah Judge, Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice Mahmoud Al-Habbash: “In the last two days we have seen, and all the others have seen, the fires that have taken place (i.e., a wave of suspected Palestinian arson attacks in November 2016). We could have stood on the sidelines, and it is possible that no one would have blamed us. And it is even possible that some of the demagogues would have thought that this was the proper position to take. But our values, our religious values and our national cultural values, compel us to take part in putting out these fires. The Palestinian search and rescue forces took part in putting out the fires in Israel out of ethical and humane motives, because of the wonderful culture, and because of the most ethical direction of the Palestinian leadership. These are our values, and we will not deviate from them, even towards those who have done injustice to us and attacked us. Aggression is not a reason for aggression, or for renouncing values.”
Fatah official: "Israel has surpassed ISIS in its crimes," Israeli government permits "the burning of the mosques by the gangs of settlers"
Source: Ma’an, independent Palestinian news agency, Nov. 16, 2016
Headline: “Zaki: The decision to forbid [the sounding of] the Muezzin in Jerusalem will not pass”
“Fatah Central Committee member and [Fatah] Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki warned against the danger of the Israeli decision to legislate a law forbidding [the sounding of] the Muezzin (i.e., the person who sings the Muslim call to prayer) in places of worship in the territories that were occupied in 1948 (i.e., Israel), and to legalize outposts (i.e., a bill legalizing Israeli towns in the West Bank)…
Zaki emphasized that Israel has surpassed ISIS in its crimes, and it is currently behaving like a gang of criminals. There is no difference between the destruction of the mosques by ISIS and the ban [on the sounding of] the Muezzin and the burning of the mosques by the gangs of settlers under the official and security cover of the occupation government.”

On Nov. 13, 2016, a bill to ban religious institutions from broadcasting over loudspeakers was approved for a preliminary reading in the Israeli Parliament. The bill is intended to prevent noise pollution. This bill is referred to by many as the "Muezzin Law," although it does not refer to any specific religion.
Other countries have already approved or attempted legislation for regulating the use of loudspeakers in mosques in order to limit noise pollution. These include India, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Bahrain, the United Emirates, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, France, the UK, Austria, Norway, and Belgium, and the US. The PA has also passed legislation regarding the use of loudspeakers in mosques in order to reduce noise pollution.

People are asking: ‘When we talk about this important and wondrous matter, which every Palestinian hopes will be realized, on what facts are we depending?’"
Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki: "There are two facts. The first fact is that we are depending on the justice of our cause, and its spiritual status. After all, the whole world knows that Jesus was Palestinian, and also, the Muslims know that Prophet Muhammad was led on the Night Journey from the Sacred Mosque [in Mecca] to the Al-Aqsa Mosque."

In a radio interview that he [Zaki] gave yesterday [Oct. 25, 2016], he said that the UNESCO resolution was a shock for Netanyahu, who boasted that the land is Jewish and claimed that the world gave him permission to continue his crimes…

Lyrics:
"Rebel Abu Jihad...
[His] love of the land increased out of pride, loyalty, and tenacity
In the name of Fatah he called [for] a revolution and Intifada
Rebel Abu Jihad
[He is] the son of the wound who made the revolution break out, the son of Fatah, the daring fighter
By his faith in the Almighty he made a revolution of anger and fire break out...
An honest one who did not die,
he will continue to be a conscience and a voice ? Abu Jihad...
He makes us proud with [his] courage and ability
The first bullet and the first stone
Rebel Abu Jihad...
Your last will was: 'Continue to attack'
On the day we parted from you, there were over a million [people at the funeral]
Our dear Abu Jihad..."

Fatah Central Committee member praises terrorist stabbers: “They performed a miracle by imposing a curfew within Israel with knives and rocks”
Source: Official Facebook page of Fatah Central ‎Committee Member Abbas Zaki, May 16, 2016

Member of Fatah Central Committee, Abbas Zaki: "This people is greater than its leadership. The determination, willpower, and willingness to die for a dignified life are present among the youth who carried a knife after the disappearance of the Arab leadership, and even the Palestinian. They performed a miracle by imposing a curfew within Israel with knives and rocks. Blessings to the mothers and fathers who gave birth to those who are marching on the path of light, without anyone having demanded it of them... [ Zaki to the audience] I bless you sincerely with all my heart, in the name of the Fatah Central Committee and in the name of the leadership, which has decided – after giving everything for peace – to define the options against this Zionist enemy, and has ended the security coordination. Anyone who talks about renewing the relations with Israel is not a Palestinian and not a member of Fatah!"

PA daily op-ed glorifies terrorist Abu Jihad and his attacks, including the "Dalal Mughrabi operation" that killed 37 and Savoy attack that killed 11

Op-ed by Fatah Central Committee Member and Commissioner of Arab Relations and Relations with China Abbas Zaki

Headline: “Abu Jihad – the legend of the memory, and memories of the generations and the revolution”
“Abu Jihad was a highly discerning fighter, who turned the revolution into a goal, who caused the occupation great concern and made it lose sleep when things became complex, and he became an inspiration, beginning with the first bullet, through the Al-Karameh battle, and ending with the first Intifada of 1987 (i.e., Palestinian wave of violence and terror against Israel, 1987-1993). When Abu Jihad is mentioned, the [pages of] the diaries turn over and there are hardly any stories without the commander’s spirit blended into them – there Dalal Mughrabi’s heroic operation (i.e., terror attack, 37 murdered) shattered the walls… On the anniversary of the death of the Prince of Martyrs [Abu Jihad], who headed the school of entrenchment in the trench of basic principles, his words come to me and beat at my ears – the intifada is a permanent decision and a daily act reflecting the rootedness of the Palestinian people and its renewed historic continuity, no voice is louder than the voice of the intifada and the occupation’s fate will be determined on the ground of Palestine alone.”

Fatah celebrates most lethal attack in Israeli history, with event attended by senior PA leaders
Source: Ma’an, independent Palestinian news agency, Mar. 13, 2016
Ma'an TV News, on ceremony to mark 38th anniversary of terrorist Dalal Mughrabi’s death as a "Martyr"

Sign at ceremony: "Palestinian National Liberation Movement – Fatah
Welcome to the Return to the Roots ceremony
To mark the anniversary of [the death of] Martyr (Shahida) Dalal Mughrabi, Bride of Palestine, and her comrades"

Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki: "She [Dalal Mughrabi] was chosen from among the young men to be the leader of the mission, and the director of the mission was [the person] of stature, Abu Jihad, who chose her to lead this mission. This mission is what established the Republic of Palestine for about 50 hours. Israel did not know what happened, they faced difficulties, even Ehud Barak (a military unit commander at the time, later served as Prime Minister of Israel –Ed.) when he arrived and found she was a woman, he 'stepped on her head.' They did not expect that the heroism, courage and will would be present in this mission leader [Dalal], when they found out she was a woman."

Dalal Mughrabi led the most lethal terror attack in Israel’s history, known as the Coastal Road massacre, in 1978, when she and other Fatah terrorists hijacked a bus on Israel's Coastal Highway, killing 37 civilians, 12 of them children, and wounding over 70.

Abu Jihad (Khalil Al-Wazir) was a founder of Fatah and deputy to Yasser Arafat. He headed the PLO terror organization's military wing and also planned many deadly Fatah terror attacks. These attacks, which killed a total of 125 Israelis, included the most lethal in Israeli history - the hijacking of a bus and killing of 37 civilians, 12 of them children.

PA denies Abbas Zaki represents the PA, wants Iran to transfer money to terrorists’ families only through the PA
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 28, 2016
Headline: “The presidency: Iran’s special ways constitute blatant interference in internal Palestinian and Arab matters”
“A press release from the president’s [Abbas’] office yesterday evening [Feb. 27, 2016] stated that [Fatah Central Committee member] Abbas Zaki represents only himself, and does not represent the PLO or the PA in anything related to his statements regarding Iran’s support of Martyrs’(Shahids) families.
In response to what Deputy Chairman of the Iranian Parliament Hussein Sheikh Al-Islam said… when he revealed that Tehran will transfer the funds in its special ways, official spokesman for the president’s office [and Fatah Central Committee member] Nabil Abu Rudeina stated that it would be more effective if Iran transferred the funds in an official manner to the institute of Martyrs and prisoners (this possibly refers to a PLO institution that deals with Martyrs and wounded –Ed.) which fulfills its duties to Palestine’s heroes and their families, instead of turning to underhanded ways and illegal means. The official spokesman said that the statements of the Iranian official are unacceptable, and they constitute not only disregard of the legitimate Palestinian government, but also a violation of all laws, including international laws, which regulate relations between states. Likewise, he noted that it is considered unacceptable interference in Palestinian and Arab internal affairs. He also said that these statements (i.e., of the Iranian official) do not serve the Palestinian struggle against the occupation and the struggle to protect Jerusalem and the holy sites.”

Zaki stated to the media: ‘They (Iran) [parentheses in source] notified us during our last visit to Tehran that they have undertaken to guarantee the families of the Martyrs of the Jerusalem Intifada and to rehabilitate the homes that Israel demolished.’ He noted that during the visit it was agreed that the mechanism for distributing the funds would be determined in the future.
He also said that afterwards, the Iranian leadership met with all of the Palestinian factions in Lebanon (the Democratic Front, the Popular Front, the Popular Front – General Command, Hamas, and the Islamic Jihad) [parentheses in source], and noted that Fatah was not present at that meeting. He added: ‘We were surprised that the mechanism was determined together with the factions without our knowledge… We were not informed about the mechanism and we did not participate in the meeting in Beirut, in which the mechanism for distributing the funds to the [families of] the Martyrs was determined.”

Likewise, he added that there is a new field strategy in Palestine, and we in the Fatah movement hope for a national awakening and national coalescence, and thatevery plan for escalation will be carried out in coordination with all Palestinian factions."

This anniversary has significance for us Palestinians, as it influenced life in Iran and the entire region, and created changes which still exist in the consciousness and in politics. Iran is treating the Palestinian cause as an internal [Iranian] cause, and this cause lives in the souls of the Iranians and is important to them. Therefore, we need to update them about it, especially since Iran is a key player in the Middle East.’ Zaki expressed hope that it will not be Arabs who create obstacles between the Iranians and the Palestinian cause, and said: ‘We are the firefighters in the case of conflicts here or there. We are the cradle of the prophets, and it is wrong to distinguish between Sunni, Shiite, Christian, or Muslim, and only those who hold grudges turn to these damaged goods (i.e., discrimination).
We as Palestinians must prevent bloodshed, and Iran should be available for its primary mission, which is Palestine’... Likewise, he said that it is in Palestinian interest that Iran be a strong state, and we demand of our partners to maintain good neighborly relations with it.”

Fatah official to Moroccan official: Middle East turmoil meant to destroy Arab countries so the “Zionist entity” will remain the supreme power in the region
Source: Ma’an, independent Palestinian news agency, Jan. 21, 2016
Headline: "The US is no longer the only player in international politics"
"Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner of Arab Relations and Relations with China Abbas Zaki met today [Jan. 20, 2016], Wednesday, with Mustapha Bakkoury, chairman of the Moroccan Authenticity and Modernity Party… Zaki noted that the wars, clashes, and sectarian conflicts rocking a number of Arab countries, under different names, are intended to tear apart the Arab homeland and create a new Sykes-Picot that will divide what is already divided, dismantle and crumble the Arab peoples, collapse their countries, and destroy their economic, human, scientific, and military power. This is so that the Zionist entity will remain the supreme and hegemonic military and scientific power in the region."

Sykes-Picot Agreement – A secret agreement between Britain and France negotiated by French diplomat François Georges-Picot and Briton Sir Mark Sykes and concluded in May 1916. The agreement had Russia’s approval and specified Britain’s and France’s proposed spheres of influence and control in the Middle East if the Ottoman Empire was defeated in World War I.
The plan was revealed in 1917 in the Russian press, and subsequently in the British press, angering the Arabs as it contradicted promises of independence made to them - on the condition they helped fight against and bring down the Ottoman Empire. The plan caused lasting distrust on the part of the Arabs in relation to Western countries.

In addition, Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki, Attorney General Abd Al-Ghani Al-Aweewi, and university representative Rafiq Abu Ayyash were present."

Hassan Albo – 23-year-old Palestinian killed in clashes between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers in Halhoul, near Hebron, on Nov. 13, 2015. Palestinian sources say he was killed by Israeli gunfire. The Israeli army is investigating the incident.

Muhannad Halabi - 19-year-old Palestinian terrorist who killed 2 Israelis, Rabbi Nehemiah Lavi and Aharon Bennett, and injured Bennett’s wife, Adele, and their 2-year-old son in a stabbing attack in the Old City of Jerusalem on Oct. 3, 2015. Following the attack, he was shot and killed by Israeli security forces. Prior to his attack, in a post to his private Facebook page, the terrorist referred to recent terror attacks as part of a "third Intifada,” and said that it was a response to Israel’s actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and that the Palestinian people would not “succumb to humiliation.” This is a reference to the PA libel that Israel is plotting to take over and destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and to the PA's portrayal of Jews praying on the Temple Mount as "an invasion of the Al-Aqsa Mosque."

“Fatah Central Committee Member [and Commissioner of Arab Relations and Relations with China] Abbas Zaki told… the Al-Quds [newspaper]: ‘On the occasion of this event (i.e., the celebrations of the anniversary of the launch of Fatah), we ask Allah, first, to have mercy on the Martyrs’ (Shahids) souls, and we recall the heroic acts, the first prisoner, the first Martyr, and the large number of Israeli fatalities in the Hijazi operation (Mahmoud Hijazi attempted to blow up Israel’s National Water Carrier in 1965. In contrast to Zaki’s statement, Israel did not suffer any casualties –Ed.)… The Fatah Central Committee member added: ‘Despite the deceptive peace process, the [Israeli] prisons are filled with Fatah members, and the graves are also overflowing with them.’ In addition, he emphasized that history will bear witness that most young people who walked the path of light to Heaven are Fatah members, [who have done it] without being instructed to do so by the leadership. He stated: ‘We now concur that the Intifada will soon become a civil rebellion, and that we should regulate our internal situation and restore the appreciation and veneration of the PLO which almost disappeared in the absence of its departments and plans.”

Fatah official: Fatah, not Hamas, is leading the “mass uprising,” i.e., terror wave

Headline: “Zaki: Hamas actions are proof that it is not a part of the Palestinian identity”
“Fatah Central Committee member and Commissioner of Arab Relations and Relations with China Abbas Zaki said that the actions taken by Hamas in the Gaza Strip shortly before the rally to mark the 51st anniversary of the Palestinian revolution are additional proof that it is not a part of the Palestinian identity. Zaki said yesterday in an interview with Radio Mawtini: ‘The harassment and arrests being carried out by Hamas in an attempt to cause the rally marking the launch [of Fatah] (Intilaqa) to fail is a great loss for it [Hamas]. It proves that it is not a part of the Palestinian identity.’ He emphasized that the Fatah movement draws its strength from its people, and noted that its fingerprints are clearly evident in the popular Palestinian uprising, whose goal is to protect the inalienable national rights and obtain freedom and independence. Zaki added that ‘Hamas needs to understand that Fatah is carrying the flag of victory, through the national measures [it takes], and that the fact that it is currently leading the mass uprising is the best proof of this.’”

Fatah leader: Allah loves young Palestinians who stab Israelis. It is “peaceful resistance”

Member of Fatah Central Committee, Abbas Zaki:
“This is a year of challenge. We must challenge [the occupation] without fear... or by the sacrifices being made now by our young people, with rocks and knives, through which Palestinians have once again imposed a new parameter in the equation of the struggle… We are now witnessing a phenomenon called peaceful popular resistance. How? These young people, youth, believed in Allah and Allah loved them and took them to Him, but their funerals are greater than those of the leaders and the sympathy for them is great.”

Fatah official: “The current Jerusalem Intifada… is an undirected intifada, arising as a result of the inability to coexist with the Zionist occupation”
Source: Al-Dustour (Jordan), Dec. 16, 2015
"Fatah Central Committee Member Abbas Zaki said that Jordan is considered the present refuge for all oppressed, and emphasized that Jordan's stability is a real strength for Palestine.
During the mass rally in the [Jordanian town] Zarka at the compound for professional unions, organized two nights ago [Dec. 14, 2015] by the popular committee for the support of the popular uprising [in Palestine], to mark the anniversary of the Palestinian Stone Intifada (i.e., Palestinian wave of violence and terror against Israel, 1987-1993), he added that the current Jerusalem Intifada is the fruit of the renewed willpower in Palestine, and is an undirected intifada, arising as a result of the inability to coexist with the Zionist occupation… He noted that the Zionist entity carries out organized terror against the Palestinian people, as they are assembling Zionist organizations, like the Zionist Irgun and Haganah (i.e., Jewish defense forces in the pre-state period) gangs, which carry out terror and intimidate. He stated that the right of return of the Palestinian people who was exiled from its land will be guaranteed if Jerusalem is returned, and added that the liberation of Jerusalem can blow up the current Zionist strategy, which is based on the effort to build the alleged Temple in place of the Al-Aqsa Mosque."
Fatah official praises Russia for going against US activities, which were to destabilize countries in region for Israel’s purposes
Source: Donia Al-Watan (independent Palestinian news agency), Dec. 1, 2015
Headline: “Zaki met with the Russian Ambassador to the State of Palestine”
“Fatah Central Committee Member and Commissioner of Arab Relations and Relations with China Abbas Zaki met with the Russian Ambassador to the State of Palestine today, Tuesday [Dec. 1, 2015] morning … Zaki noted that the conduct of the extremist Israeli government, run by rabbis who permit killing Arabs and reoccupying the West Bank, has severe implications, which could ignite conflict and instability in the region. Zaki praised Russia’s activity in the region, [as Russia] already has understood the scope and consequences of the American ‘creative anarchy’, which was a destructive earthquake for the capabilities of the countries and peoples of the region, and harmed the sovereignty of these countries in order to guarantee Israel’s security and superiority, which could lead to the intensification of the existing occupation, the expansion of the settlements, and the materialization of the dream of the greater State of Israel.”

“Creative Anarchy” or “constructive anarchy” are terms coined by former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in 2006 to describe the initial stage in the political reconstruction of former dictatorships as part of the Anglo-American roadmap for a “New Middle East.”
Fatah official: Arab countries don’t support Palestinian fight against Israel because “everyone is afraid, because all the banks are under US supervision, the Zionist experts”
Source: Al-Mayadeen (Lebanon), Nov. 22, 2015
Al-Mayadeen TV program The Latest Edition
Fatah Central Committee Member Abbas Zaki: “This current action – the intifada with knives – this new one. The previous [intifadas] began with stones, slingshots, nails and [toy] marbles, and later came Molotov cocktails, knives and other things, gradual actions. This time, the knife came right away. Why? Because these people have lost hope for the future, there is no [political] arrangement. They act in the same way that the enemy acts. They [the Israelis] have started the intifada, not we...  Israel cares about security and money. We have imposed [a reality] on them through the knife, which has caused instability, and therefore [now] there is no security and no money. We have no money, or anything, frankly... They [Arab countries] give [money] because of the jobs (i.e., for the salaries for civil servants) and so that we will enjoy life, but [to give money] so that you will fight against Israel, that is forbidden. Everyone is afraid, because all the banks are under US supervision, the Zionist experts, and all the Arabs’ money is in Manhattan, and the keys to petroleum are in the US. If so, we intend to [fight] with our blood, which is more valuable than money."

Fatah official: “ISIS and Israel are the same coin” and only way to save the region is to “remove from the body this cancer that is Israel”
Source: Al-Mayadeen (Lebanon), Nov. 22, 2015
Al-Mayadeen TV program The Latest Edition, hosting Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki
Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki: “Therefore this step (i.e., an assembly to show support for the intifada) came, following the revival of the Palestinian problem, after all signs of the Oslo accords and betting on false peace had disappeared, and after matters were put in the hands of a strategic ally of Israel, the US. After all, this large country has no strategic alliance in the world except with Israel, the ‘airplane carrier’ in the region, or the most advanced dagger for slaughtering the Arab nation. In the past [Israel] had a role dealing with communism, and it has ended. Today they wish to create a horror named Islam and it will also fail, because ISIS and Israel are the same coin, two sides of one coin being operated by the US. The purpose of ISIS, the Islamic State, is to provide an excuse for the Jewish state’s existence, except for the difference that this one [the Islamic State is doomed] to disappear, and this one [Israel] to remain… I believe the situation cannot be fixed, and the only way to save the region is to remove from the body this cancer that is Israel, which is the reason for all the types of backwardness and destruction… "

Fatah official: Murderers of 4 are “giants and leaders... Whoever succeeded in killing, this is a big thing”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Oct. 31, 2015

Member of Fatah Central Committee, Abbas Zaki:
“They [the Martyrs] are giants and leaders who have written the future of the region. These Martyrs of the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] have outshined the political leadership and scared Israel... Raed (i.e., terrorist who stabbed one) is not [just] a Martyr from [the town of] Sa’ir, or the Hebron district. Raed is just like Iyad Al-Awawdeh (i.e., terrorist who stabbed one), Alaa Abu Jamal (i.e., terrorist who murdered two), and Muhannad Halabi (i.e., terrorist who murdered two). These are pioneers. Raed is one of the greatest pioneers... I believe that, Allah willing, something will be built and named after him [Raed]. When Palestine is liberated, Allah willing, he will have at least an institution named after him, and a statue [made] of him... Everyone who loves Palestine and wants Israel to be scared, should salute [all] the deceased - whether they were Martyrdom-seekers, or Martyrs. Whoever succeeded in killing, this is a big thing, and whoever succeeded in at least scaring the Israeli pedestrian is also a Martyr.”

Fatah official supports “non-violent” “uprising” because Israel would benefit from Palestinian violence

Headline: "Abbas Zaki to 'Donia Al-Watan': 'Severing of ties with Israel within a week'
“Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki clarified that the settlers' wild behavior and the current actions require a large effort in order to turn [the uprising] into a greater public uprising, that will be of a non-violent nature and capable of continuity, and announced: 'We fear that the actions will gradually become military and Israel will be the one to benefit.'
Zaki noted that if the confrontations remain as they are now, it will be suicide [for the PA], and noted that a united leadership with organized plans is necessary, which will daily enlist thousands of people and international solidarity activists… 'in order to take a greater part in the destruction of the Israeli economy and the undermining of its stability, so that the whole world will feel the occupation’s racism, and the world needs to bear responsibility. However, if the situation remains as it is, action after action, the world's perception, which favors Israel, will be that it is an issue of terror that can be eliminated.'"

Fatah official: Israel far worse than ISIS, “implementing Nazi methods”

“Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki stressed that relations with Israel need to be reexamined, and demanded of the Arab world and the entire world to annul the recognition of it [Israel], isolate it, and put it on trial. Likewise, he emphasized that attacks to destroy ISIS should not be carried out, as it does not commit even part of the terror of an organized country like Israel, but rather these attacks should be carried out to destroy Israel, since its attacks are worse than those of ISIS.
He added in an interview with Dunia Al-Watan: ‘What happened (i.e., the arson attack and murder) is a war crime and eradication [of the Palestinians], which is included in the framework of terror of the organized country. Therefore, the entire world must know and see the crimes committed by Israel, instead of dealing with what is called ISIS and the fundamentalist and religious extremists. It is true that ISIS’ has harmed the world, but the worst kind of terror, according to the legal and true definition, is occupation.’ Zaki stated that Israel commits the worst kind of terror [by continuing] the occupation, and implementing Nazi methods, as the burning of people in their houses at 2.30 a.m. constitutes a serious war crime…"

[He added that] Fatah is not the one using a defective sword to deal with the aggression against its people’s refugee camps, and not the one exposing the flesh of its banished sons to the swords of the traitors and schemers - the agents of NATO and the ghost brigades of the Mossad and the US Intelligence… Zaki said that every battle that begins with slogans of democracy and legitimacy surely ends with ‘Islamic Stateness,’ which is what has happened in Iraq, Syria and Libya, and that what is happening now in Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Sinai will undoubtedly also end with ‘Islamic Stateness.’ That is because the enemies wanted this to be the destiny of our Arab region, within the framework of drawing a new map [for the region], erasing and removing our Palestinian cause from their nations’ agenda, and replacing it with other agendas and priorities. That is because they have decided definitively to divide what was already divided and to change the nation’s map and priorities in order to strengthen Israel’s presence and ensure its supremacy over us.”

Fatah official: "Popular uprising continues" but "conditions are not yet ripe for intifada"
Source: Al-Akhbar, Lebanese daily, Aug. 19, 2014
Headline: “An interview with Abbas Zaki”
Q. For the first time, the Palestinians are united behind their demands, but the negotiations have dragged on for two weeks. What is going on?
[Member of Fatah Central Committee and Fatah Commissioner of Arab Relations and Relations with China Abbas Zaki:] ‘In the past few days the ideas that have come up for discussion have not progressed, because they have not accomplished their goal; every idea was either vague or had a catch. Israel is experienced at evading an admission of defeat. For example, they condition the ceasefire on the cessation of hostilities, as though the legitimate struggle for the liberation of the land constitutes aggression.
They also conditioned our right to an airport and seaport, and even the rebuilding [of Gaza], on the disarmament of the resistance. The delegation refused this, and the Egyptian brothers did not repeat this request…’
Q: The occupied West Bank tried to demonstrate presence through shooting operations and confrontations through rocks. What about the possibility that a third intifada will break out?
[Zaki:] ‘What is happening in Jerusalem and the West Bank is a mass uprising, necessitated by the crimes being carried out by the gangs of settlers and the [Israeli] soldiers. As if history repeats itself, new price tag militias are based on the models of the Lehi, Etzel, and Hagana from the period of the establishment of the state, [David] Ben Gurion who gave the order to carry out massacres under the slogan “Let us defeat the Arabs through fear.” The popular uprising continues, but there are cautious expressions of armed resistance in the West Bank. The conditions are not yet ripe for intifada.’”

Fatah commissioner: "The US is in the evil camp‎" of those who "follow Zionism's money, dollars and ‎media‎"
Source: Awdah independent Palestinian TV channel, Aug. 10, 2014
The independent Palestinian TV channel ‎Awdah interviewed Fatah Central ‎Committee Member and Commissioner of ‎Arab Relations and Relations with China ‎Abbas Zaki on August 3, 2014. The ‎interview was posted on August 10, 2014.‎
Fatah Central Committee Member and ‎Commissioner of Arab Relations and ‎Relations with China Abbas Zaki: “We ‎must now act by consensus. We must ‎formulate a common strategy. We have ‎none among us who would either oppose ‎‎[the resistance] or [be willing to] ‎compromise. We must reach a point in ‎which no one demands from the other ‎something he cannot do. Whoever can ‎win hearts [and minds] around the world ‎is a hero. Whoever can terrorize them [the ‎Israelis] and send them into the shelters ‎is a hero. Whoever can raise money is a ‎hero. And whoever can build and repair ‎is also a hero… The harsh blockade on ‎Russia strengthens the BRICs – Russia, ‎China, Brazil, India and South Africa. ‎Just yesterday, they opened an ‎international bank, in addition to the ‎existing one, in local currency, with a ‎capital of a hundred billion. So I believe ‎we are not alone. Two camps are now ‎emerging in the world: the good camp ‎and the evil camp. At the moment, the US ‎is in the evil camp. You will soon see that ‎this is no decree of fate – after all the ‎crimes committed, the double standards ‎and the blind recruiting of those who ‎follow Zionism’s money, dollars and ‎media. And they call themselves a [world] ‎power – inconceivable.”‎

Fatah official: Israel and the terror org. ISIS are the US' "most advanced pawns"
Source: Palestine News Network (PNN, independent Palestinian news agency), Aug. 7, 2014
"Fatah Central Committee Member and Commissioner of Arab Relations and Relations with China Abbas Zaki said the Palestinian language and terminology [employed] with the Zionist enemy must be changed, as whoever has seen the extent of the destruction, the ruins and the limbs torn from the pure bodies of our people in Gaza understands the goals of the Zionist attack (i.e., Operation Protective Edge) - [namely,] to exploit the terrible situation in the Arab world that has resulted from the lack of bravery, enthusiasm and willpower among those [countries] who have made subjugation to the US their way [of life]... [The US,] whose most advanced pawns include Israel and its new creation, ISIS, whose goal is to destroy the Arab world and eliminate the Palestinian cause."

ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) - is an unrecognized state and jihadist group that has conquered large parts of Iraq and Syria. It has declared itself a Caliphate, thereby claiming religious authority over all Muslims; its goal is to bring much of the Middle East, including Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Kuwait, and Cyprus under its control.

Q: “[As of now, Israel’s Operation ‎Protective Edge has claimed] over 120 ‎Martyrs (Shahids) and wounded 900, and ‎at the official level, Fatah is still adhering ‎to the negotiations. Is that really the ‎movement’s position?”‎
Fatah Central Committee member Abbas ‎Zaki: “First of all, what is happening in ‎Gaza is a very large operation. The enemy ‎has crossed all boundaries of human ‎‎[behavior], and I don’t believe Fatah is ‎relying on negotiations with this ‎savage…”‎
Q: “What is Fatah’s official position on the ‎Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades (Fatah’s military ‎wing), who are launching rockets at the ‎Israeli settlements? There are figures ‎according to which Fatah in Gaza has ‎launched over 200 rockets.”‎
Abbas Zaki: “Our eyes are now turned ‎toward Gaza, and the unity of the factions ‎is very necessary... No one in Gaza will ‎look on from the sidelines and sit by idly. ‎Gaza is at war and is living under fire, and ‎whoever disavows‎ the resistance is no ‎member of Fatah‎...
We Palestinians have an international ‎decision regarding our right to defend ‎ourselves, even by means of armed ‎struggle, but we won’t use the [armed] ‎struggle unless it suits the situation and ‎helps and exacts a high price from the ‎enemy during the campaign. ‎
We don’t want to say we are against it.
‎Yasser Arafat went to the UN and told ‎them, ‘an olive branch in one hand and a ‎rifle in the other.’ He didn’t say ‘just a rifle;’ ‎but also the green branch... Mahmoud Abbas is ‎experienced. We don’t want words, we ‎want deeds."

Fatah official: Israel is a “colonialist Zionist enterprise” in alliance with the US that seeks to weaken the entire Arab region
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 15, 2014
Op-ed by Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki
“On May 14, 1948, colonialist Britain announced the end of its Mandate in Palestine and the completion of its mission, [which was] to allow the Zionist movement to take over... That same night, the leader of the armed Zionist gangs, David Ben Gurion, finished reading the declaration of the ‘independence of the State of Israel,’ as it was called, to the leaders of these gangs. With them, he approved Plan D, and on the morning of May 15, [1948] the Holocaust of Palestine, its great Nakba began… [We are still struggling] to prepare ourselves for the restoration of all the rights we lost and to concentrate all our power and ability on achieving the great victory and putting an end to the Zionist settlement enterprise on our Palestinian land…
As we have seen throughout the history of the conflict, the functional aspect of the colonialist Zionist enterprise outside of Palestine’s borders calls for engaging in war and aggression against the Arab nation, completely dominating all political, social and economic channels in the neighboring Arab countries, weakening and embroiling them in wars and internal and external conflicts, and weakening the [entire] Arab region, exhausting it, to keep it under foreign influence and hegemony forever …
Beyond the borders of the Arab world, it also demands, as we have seen, the forging of a strategic alliance with the United States – where AIPAC and the Zionist lobby have a strong influence – and with the fascist regimes and oppressive regimes in Asia, Africa and Latin America. [It also demands] supporting separatist and reactionary movements among nations fighting for their freedom and national independence... in order to keep them in the cycle of poverty and dependence on monopolistic global companies.”

Fatah official: Arch-terrorist responsible for 125 deaths is "an eternal symbol on the path of the struggle"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Apr. 16, 2014
“Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner of Arab Relations and Relations with China Abbas Zaki called April 16 a day that generations of Palestinians can never forget. This was the day the great commander Khalil Al-Wazir ‘Abu Jihad’ joined the [ranks of the] commander-Martyrs, after writing the history of a period in which the generations raised the flag of the struggle, and led the children of the stones (i.e., the children who threw stones during the first Intifada) to perform miracles.
Zaki added that, despite the pain over the death of a commander engraved in the memories and souls of our people, Martyr Abu Jihad was [still] present, and that the revolution was embodied in a man and commander from among the people. Zaki said that Martyr Abu Jihad had embodied national Palestinian unity and established, in his longstanding confrontation with the Israeli enemy, the fighters’ path of unity... He planted the spirit of grounded resistance among the generations, and remains, despite his absence, an eternal symbol on the path of the struggle. The Prince of Martyrs, Abu Jihad, remains the first bullet and the first stone, the one [our] hearts trust in and through whose vision [our] faith grows…
Among the military operations (i.e., terror attacks) planned by Abu Jihad: the explosion at the Zohar reservoir in 1955; the operation to blow up the Israeli National Water Carrier in 1965; the operation at the Savoy Hotel in Tel Aviv in 1975, which killed 10 Israelis; the blowing up of a truck bomb in Jerusalem in 1975; the killing of Albert Levi, the senior sapper, and his assistant in Nablus in 1976; the Dalal Mughrabi operation in 1978, in which more than 37 Israelis were killed... and [he] planned the Dimona Reactor operation (i.e., the Mothers’ Bus Attack) in 1988, which was the principle reason for his assassination."

Participants at the ceremony included… on the Palestinian side, Fatah Central Committee Member and Commissioner of Arab Relations Abbas Zaki, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Tunisia Salman Al-Harfi and Fatah Secretary in Tunisia Hisham Mustafa…
In his speech, Zaki spoke of the stages of the struggle our people have led in this month (March) – the Battle of Karameh, the Republic of Dalal Mughrabi, Mother’s Day and Land Day, which proved the unification of all our people in all of Palestine on that day.”

Notes: The Karameh battle - In 1968, Israeli army forces attacked the Al-Karameh village in Jordan, where Fatah terrorists were launching attacks on Israel. Arafat used the event for propaganda purposes, declaring the battle a great victory that erased the disgrace of the 1967 Six Day War defeat.
Palestinian sources occasionally refer to the hijacked bus as “the Republic of Dalal Mughrabi.”
Land Day –an annual commemoration of the general strike and demonstrations organized by Israeli Arab residents of the Galilee on March 30, 1976, to protest the Israeli government's decision to expropriate land in the Galilee for security and settlement purposes, which it later implemented. Senior Fatah official: "Allah will gather [the Israelis] so we can kill them"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Mar. 12, 2014

PA TV host: On the issue discussed in the media, that Netanyahu failed in his attempt to stir up the media around the so-called arms ship (Iranian shipment of arms to Gaza intercepted by Israel), and so he turned to the option of bloodshed, which explains the number of Martyrs (3 Islamic Jihad terrorists) who fell in 24 hours. In other words, he failed to draw the world's attention, and so resorted to the Israeli occupation's traditional method - killing Palestinians in order to provoke a hurried Palestinian reaction. How do you see this?

Member of Fatah Central Committee Abbas Zaki: Netanyahu went and provoked an uproar, like [when] he drew a nuclear bomb [and said] this is what Iran wants. He failed in the Iranian issue, and tried to improve his situation with the Palestinian issue... These Israelis have no belief, no principles. They are an advanced instrument of evil. They say, the Holocaust, and so on - fine, why are they doing this to us? Therefore, I believe that Allah will gather them so we can kill them. I am informing the murderer of his death.

Senior PA official celebrates “magnificent” terrorist “heroes returning from captivity”
Source: Official PA TV Live, Nov. 3, 2013
PA TV broadcast a rally in Surif, Hebron in honor of released prisoners Ziyad Ghneimat, Mustafa Ghneimat, and Najeh Muqbil.
Abbas Zaki: "How great and magnificent what you have done, oh heroes returning from captivity. How great are these men of great stature, for you sieged the prison guard. How great are you, for you knew that you are potential Martyrs (Shahids), yet your will was stronger than any [Israeli] decision and any outcome... We are the ones who planted the spirit of defiance in this nation, and we have been the school [to teach] the culture of resistance... We took up arms, and with cascades of blood we inscribed [in the books of history] victory after victory. And today, through diplomacy, by winning the world over on our side, and by removing Israel from public opinion (i.e., as a legitimate state), we will administer the poison to them drop by drop… I congratulate the Hebron District on [the return] of this group of select men. And when I mention Mustafa, Ziyad, and Najeh, I add also the great eagle Fakhri Barghouti –33 years in prison, and here he is with us! …
I would like now to recall the commander of the operation, [Muhammad] Abu Shadi Al-Tous, whom we look up to with respect. The reason they are postponing [the release of] this commander is that he angered them more by having been the commander of the operation. We also salute [his wife] Um Shadi, and every front, and [we salute] all those beloved heroes, the pioneers, the free men, the fighters, like these heroes (points to the three released prisoners)… We say to Israel: Die in your rage. Go to your cemeteries and recite over your dead whatever you recite. Here they are [who Israel said] 'have blood on their hands' (i.e., murderers); here they are [back] among their own people: fighters, knights, free men!”

Senior Fatah official: Abbas “baffled everyone” with diplomacy; now we can “administer poison to them [Israel] drop by drop”
Source: Official PA TV Live, Nov. 3, 2013
PA TV broadcast a rally in Surif, Hebron in honor of released prisoners Ziyad Ghneimat, Mustafa Ghneimat, and Najeh Muqbil.
Abbas Zaki: "How great and magnificent what you have done, oh heroes returning from captivity... How great what President Mahmoud Abbas has done, who through his insight knew how to defeat the enemies… Mahmoud Abbas came with his strong argument, with his intelligent policy, and with excellent, elegant diplomacy, and he baffled everyone in the Israeli camp, and he forced this equation (i.e., equating prisoners who had killed with prisoners who had not). For no one expected that Israel, which hands down life sentences and decided that they [the prisoners] would go from prison to the grave, [would release them]. They have become medals on the chest of this nation… The release of these heroic brothers was payment for nine months in which we won’t turn to international institutions… When Israel and America declared that ‘the old will die and the young will forget,’ and when they said that this is their ‘Promised Land,’ we told them that what is ‘promised’ is turbulent confrontation. We took up arms, and with cascades of blood we inscribed [in the books of history] victory after victory. And today, through diplomacy, by winning the world over on our side, and by removing Israel from public opinion (i.e., as a legitimate state), we will administer the poison to them drop by drop… We say to Israel: Die in your rage. Fatah: An “Israeli colonialist expansion project” exists
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 14, 2013
“Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki’s office said… in its statement: ‘Abbas Zaki’s visit to Syria wasn’t a personal visit… [but] rather reflected the Fatah Central Committee’s positions, and was based on President Mahmoud Abbas’ instructions and policies. This is not the first [visit] but it was preceded by three Palestinian visits, led by PLO Executive Committee member… [These visits] were based on the following points and topics: …
Thirdly: The President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas’ and the Fatah Central Committee’s concern for Syria does not stem only from its being a country that stands up to the Israeli colonialist expansion project, but also due to concern for Palestinian refugees in sister Syria’s territories.”

Abbas representative Zaki: PA opposes foreign interference in Syria
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 9, 2013
“The official Presidential Spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeina, said that President Mahmoud Abbas’ special envoy, Abbas Zaki’s visit to Damascus was made as part of the discussion of our people’s difficult humanitarian situation in Syria… Abu Rudeina emphasized the President’s and the Palestinian leadership’s position, according to which there should be no interference in any Arab country’s internal affairs. He said: ‘Our strong position is that there should be no interference on the behalf of any one party, and we stress that our constant position is to honor the right of other nations to freedom, a dignified life and human respect.’”

Fatah Central committee warns of the “Israeli colonialist expansion scheme”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 9, 2013
“Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki’s office said... ‘Abbas Zaki’s visit to Syria was not [a] private [visit]; the visit to Damascus, which was distinctly political, was conducted as an expression of the position of Fatah’s Central Committee in accordance with President Mahmoud Abbas’ instructions and policy… [These visits] were based on the following points and topics:
a. [The Palestinian people already suffered from confrontations with other Arab nations and has therefore learned [the necessary] lessons to avert destructive wars.]
b. Fatah’s Central Committee, led by President Mahmoud Abbas, has taken a stand against interfering in Syria’s internal affairs and against favoring any one party against another. This [was decided] because we trust the brothers in Syria, who are the most capable of protecting their own interests and finding ways and means to solve their problems, based on preserving Syrian unity, opposing military solutions and settling disputes through democratic dialogue, with the aim of reaching understanding and a common ground to protect Syria from ruin and destruction.
c. The interest President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas and the Central Committee show in Syria does not stem only from its being a country struggling against the Israeli colonialist expansion scheme, but also due to concern for Palestinian refugees in sister Syria’s territories. Their refugee camps have been destroyed and ruined and they need livelihood and a glass of water to stay alive until they return to Palestine and reclaim their homes and property in Haifa, Acre, Safed, Tiberias, Lod, Ramle and Be’er Sheva.’”

Zaki: US will not succeed in destroying Syria and dividing the Arab nation
Source: Al-Ikhbariyah TV, Oct. 8, 2013
Member of Fatah Central Committee and Fatah Commissioner of Arab Relations and Relations with China Abbas Zaki was interviewed by Syrian Al-Ikhbariyah TV. The interview was posted on Youtube on Oct. 8, 2013.
Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki: ‘First of all, we understand Syria’s position and importance well, and the importance of its unity, its people’s welfare, its army’s strength and its President’s honor. We, too -- in a Palestinian situation -- with Palestine’s importance, also live in an unusual situation. In these unusual conditions in which Syria is living and in which we live, it would be better for us to be aware, and for there to be coordination and cooperation in order to confront the difficult crises with which the Palestinian cause or Syria must deal… Thank Allah, I left [the meeting with Assad] confident that President Bashar Assad’s will, awareness and vision are capable of unifying the Syrians and capable of bringing them out of the crisis it is in in a suitable way.’ … Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki: ‘I am telling our Arab nation: The US is not predestined. Here it is trembling and retreating. It destroyed Afghanistan, it destroyed Iraq, but it will not succeed in destroying Syria, because Syria chose strategic allies who have enthusiasm, willpower, vision and a real understanding of the aspirations of the US and the camp that is hostile towards the [Arab] nation that these [Arab] countries should have been divided. We will turn the Arabs into 151 countries so that Israel will remain the hegemonic power. I now call on the entire Arab nation to respect those who stand firm in face of any conspiracy, and crush that conspiracy.”
Abbas representative Zaki: Attacks on Syria are part of conspiracy to divide Arab world
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 8, 2013
“President of Syria Bashar Assad said yesterday [Oct. 7, 2013] that the centrality of the Palestinian cause and upholding the Palestinian people’s legitimate historical rights will remain his country’s priority. Official Syrian news agency Sana noted that, while welcoming Fatah Central Committee member and President Mahmoud Abbas’ personal representative Abbas Zaki yesterday morning, Assad asserted that the brutal attack Syria is subject to will not alter its pan-Arab principles… Sana quoted Zaki, who stressed asserted the Palestinian people’s solidarity with Syria in light of the aggression to which it is subjected. He explained that harming Syria harms the [entire] Arab nation, because exhausting its people’s and its army’s capabilities is part of a larger conspiracy to divide the region’s countries and weaken them [in order] to serve Israeli interests.”

Fatah official Zaki: “American arrogance led to 9/11”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Sept. 13, 2013
“Abbas Zaki, member of Fatah Central Committee and Fatah Commissioner of Arab Relations and Relations with China… said that America’s eagerness for an attack in Syria and the Israeli aggression against Jerusalem and [the] Al-Aqsa [Mosque] take us back 40 years to the acclaimed October War (i.e., the Yom Kippur War, 1973), something which calls for an Arab awakening in view of the conspiracies being hatched against Syria and Egypt, the heroes of the crossing [of the Suez canal]…
[Abbas] Zaki noted that the increased Israeli aggression on the anniversary of the October [War] makes it clear that the main cause of conflict is Israel and that the American arrogance since [former US President George] Bush Jr.’s term has remained as it was, and it is what led to the 9/11 events.”

“Member of Fatah Central Committee, and Commissioner of Arab Relations and Relations with the People’s Republic of China, Abbas Zaki said that the two-state solution has reached its end and has withered away, in accordance with Israeli criteria. He wondered which two states ‘Israel’ is talking about when it maintains that Jerusalem is its eternal capital and it continues to settle and steal lands and deny the indisputable rights of our people…
Regarding the PA’s options since no [political] settlement can be seen on the horizon, Zaki said: ‘We are not captive to the American or the Israeli decision. We must struggle to rid the occupation from our land.’ He described anyone who removes resistance from the struggle, as ‘ignorant’.”

“Member of Fatah Central Committee and Commissioner of Arab Relations and Relations with China, Abbas Zaki, phoned Hussein Fayyad, leader of the group responsible for the ‘Dalal Mughrabi’ operation (i.e., most lethal terror attack in Israel’s history in 1978,) whose health has deteriorated as a result of his hunger strike…
Zaki said that he spoke on the phone with fighter Fayyad, who resides in Algeria because the occupation forbids him to return to his homeland Palestine, and convinced him to end his strike, which he had started because he does not receive his rights [from the PA] as a fighter and as one of the revolution’s heroes.
Zaki added that he promised fighter Fayyad to restore his dignity and raise his case before President Mahmoud Abbas and the concerned parties, so that justice will be done.
Zaki said that the Fatah movement would not abandon its fighter sons who sacrificed what was most precious to them for Palestine’s freedom and that allowing them to live in dignity is an obligation and not a favor.
Zaki said that he is convinced that President Mahmoud Abbas will not tarry in ensuring justice for wonderful self-sacrificing (Fedayeen) fighter role models, such as fighter Hussein Fayyad who fought against the occupation and participated in the heroic Dalal Mughrabi operation."

Interview with Abbas Zaki, member of the Fatah Central Committee, on the PA TV program Palestine This Morning:
Zaki: "Actually we started a process of organization and precise reconnaissance, in order to start the Fatah revolution, in January '65. From then until today, 48 years of rivers of blood, sweat and tears, we have [had] ups and downs, but the enemy feels, each day that it is regressing. Each period we use a different form of struggle: At one time [we struggle] with weapons, at another time – stones, another time – empty stomachs (i.e., hunger strikes), such that we will defeat this executioner in our battle. I believe that the memory, the love of Palestine and the geography of Palestine still lives in the mind of this tremendous nation. The women carry out Martyrdom-seeking operations (i.e., suicide attacks), and utter sounds of joy over the Martyr, and sing to the groom (i.e., the Martyr who marries the 72 virgins in Paradise). This shows what a right that has claimants is, and that the Palestinian people is ready to sacrifice until this black day (Nakba day) is erased through its struggle…"

Day after day, Allah willing, the picture will become clearer. America is not our fate. It is true that there are 6 million Jews there. It is they who vote for the President and for the Congress, and who control it. Israelis control America through those votes. We have 15 million Arab and Muslim votes. Those living in America – if 5 million of them were to vote as a bloc, it could cancel the Jewish control of the administration and of the American Congress. When there will be an American leadership that believes in the principles of George Washington and does not adhere to the decisions of the extremists in Tel Aviv, perhaps the entire equation will change, and we can begin to live for our hopes, and to turn them into facts. They will live for their diseases and for their hatred, and they will die, with Allah's permission."

Fatah official in PA TV news broadcast: Israel is like Hitler
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Mar. 17, 2012
Report about a Palestinian demonstrator attacked by an Israeli army dog. Interview with Member of Fatah Central Committee Abbas Zaki, about the incident.
PA TV reporter: "In these images, Israeli Nazism and the criminal mentality are eternalized. The methods are numerous, but the aggression is the same. Police dogs attack the demonstrators and bite their exposed parts…"
Member of Fatah Central Committee, Abbas Zaki: "When this enemy uses dogs and live bullets and this planned military violence, it emphasizes its violent, racist nature and character, which is unacceptable, and which has multiplied and spilled over beyond all limits. In my opinion they imitate – and they are determined to imitate – the period of Hitler. Because, in the Nazi war, Hitler was determined to train dogs… so that they would enter the war. These modern weapons and modern technology have reached their hands, harmful wild boars, as well as dogs that bite the bodies of the [Palestinian] fighters." ...
Host: "Mr. Zaki, when the Israeli soldiers use dogs as a means of suppressing these demonstrations, why, in your opinion, do they reach such a level of barbarism and of torture of civilians?"
Zaki: "They are – first of all, when they exaggerate with their crimes, they're afraid. Their man is already not able to handle it. Therefore, I believe that the dog, the boar, and the soldier have now joined forces [lit: they are in one pit] against Palestinian humanity."

Zaki expressed the solidarity of the President and the leadership of Fatah with the family of the Martyr... He pointed out that the cold-blooded murder of Abu Aram is organized crime of the extremist Israeli government... Zaki also visited the family of the injured prisoner Mahmoud Omar Rashid who was also injured in town of Yatta (in the same incident)... He expressed the pride of the Palestinian leadership in this generation and in this heroism."

Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki: Goal is end of Israel, but "you can't say that to the world"
Source: Al-Jazeera TV, Sept. 23, 2011
"The agreement is based on the borders of June 4 [1967]. While the agreement is on the borders of June 4, the President [Mahmoud Abbas] understands, we understand, and everyone knows that it is impossible to realize the inspiring idea, or the great goal in one stroke. If Israel withdraws from Jerusalem, if Israel uproots the settlements, 650,000 settlers, if Israel removes the (security) fence - what will be with Israel? Israel will come to an end. If I say that I want to remove it from existence, this will be great, great, [but] it is hard. This is not a [stated] policy. You can't say it to the world. You can say it to yourself."

Fatah Central Committee member: The US has no morality, we must work against the US
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Sept. 21, 2011
Abbas Zaki, member of the Fatah Central Committee:
"Praise to Allah, it was as though I had Divine inspiration; from the moment they applauded [US President] Abu Hussein Obama, and from the moment he began his speech, I swear by Allah, I felt that this man [Obama] was a puppet in the hands of the Zionists and the Israelis – a puppet! No more and no less. Why? Because the history of the United States is a forgery. What they call ideals and the values of Washington, the values of George Washington, and democracy and so on, serves them when they so desire…
The time has come to leave the equation which separates the US from Israel. Both are [committing] the same crime. They slaughtered the Indians there, but they can't slaughter us here. The world is a small village; today there are changes: In Turkey, let's hear Erdogan's speech; let's hear the speech by Ahmadinejad. As I see it, we must now work with everything which is against the US, so that they will come back to us. Because they [the US] – if they aren't afraid, they're not embarrassed [to act as they do]; they have no values or morality."
PA TV host: "Correct."

"Abbas Zaki, member of the Fatah Central Committee and General Commissioner for Arab Relations, called for an Islamic summit conference to be held immediately for the city of Jerusalem… He emphasized that the summit would need to establish the stance of the Islamic states towards Jerusalem, ‘since it is not only ours, but [belongs to] all Muslims, and is in grave danger.’
Zaki said, in announcements to the press, that ‘the struggle and the Jihad for the liberation of Jerusalem are not the job of the Palestinians alone; it is the job of all Muslims and all believers and all who are loyal and who bear the faith, and Jihad on [Jerusalem’s] behalf is a personal religious commandment (i.e. incumbent on every individual) [fard ayn] and not [merely] a communal religious commandment, especially in the shadow of the threat to the holy city and its inhabitants, coming from the occupiers who are acting to change its Arabic and Islamic landmarks…’ He noted that the excavation activities which Israel is carrying out beneath the Al-Aqsa Mosque threaten the collapse of the Marwani prayer complex [Solomon’s Stables]… In addition, they may cause a larger collapse of the structures adjacent to Al-Aqsa, in addition to the building of a new synagogue… with the purpose of concealing the usual sight of the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa...
Zaki also demanded action on the broadest possible scale on all continents in order to isolate Israel as a punishment for its crimes against man, stone and tree, and for being a wayward state which is above the law, and to expose its strategic alliance with the US…
[In conclusion, Zaki] demanded of the Arab League to emphasize the boycott of Israel.”

He noted that this American pressure is being exerted [on Palestinians] because of their own [American] needs in anticipation of mid-term elections. And despite the position of Obama, who wants to do something, but is controlled by the Congress, the Zionist lobby, and AIPAC.”

Headline: "Impressive farewell to the Shahid (Martyr) commander Abu Daoud at the Al-Yarmouk refugee camp"
"'He began his life as a regular individual and concluded it with giant stature.' Thus Abbas Zaki, member of the Fatah Central Committee, described the Shahid (Martyr) commander Abu Daoud who parted from his brothers and from his people two nights ago, after a life spent in struggle under the flag of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) and under the flag of the PLO...
He spent his life as a fighter for the liberation of this homeland and for the return of its dispersed children to it. He joined Fatah upon its establishment, and directed many fighting operations against the Israeli occupation. Generations of fighters and people of struggle were educated by him...
Zaki described the late commander thus: 'He started his life as a regular individual and concluded it with giant stature.' Speaking to WAFA news agency, he added: 'We have lost a man on the level of the Arab region and on the level of the world revolutionary movement, by virtue of his noble actions and his glorious history. Bestowing this honor in every place, inside the homeland and outside of it, does justice to this mighty man.'
Dr. Samir Al-Refa'i [Secretary of the Fatah branch in Syria] said: 'With the fall of Abu Daoud as a Shahid we have lost a man who is worth all other men together, but we have already become accustomed to this road being a long one, full of Shahids, commanders and fighters.
He added: 'Abu Daoud is one of the symbols of the Fatah movement. He lived his life wounded, and his wounds testify to his path of struggle and to his continuous struggle on behalf of his people and the homeland. He will always remain our ideal and a role model for the generations to come.'"

PA leader Zaki: Armed struggle still option if negotiations fail
Source: Al-Ghad (Jordan), May 22, 2010
"Abbas Zaki, member of the Fatah Central Committee, does not believe that a Palestinian-Israeli agreement will be achieved in the shadow of the extreme right-wing [Israeli] government, but he leaves the door open to a 'return to [UN] Resolution 181 and to all forms of the struggle, including the armed struggle, if the negotiations fail: the door is open to a return to the UN, such that Resolutions 242 and 338 will no longer have any value, and there will be a return to Resolution 181 [of November 29, 1947], which is the Partition Plan and the birth certificate of the State of Israel and of the Palestinian State. In addition, [there will be] a return to UN Resolution 3236, which grants the Palestinian people the right to all forms of the struggle, including the armed struggle...’ He called for ‘a gathering that will bring together the Fatah and Hamas leadership, under Mahmoud Abbas'... and added: 'We are in favor of anyone who defends the homeland and bears arms in order to defend it, because he supports the idea of Fatah and of the resistance. Likewise, we stand with anyone who comes out against the Zionist lobby and isolates Israel and puts it in a corner.'”

He described him as the first bullet, the start of the revolution, a legend, and a man impossible to describe in words.  Zaki summarized Abu Jihad’s life of struggle from his childhood until his momentous death as a Martyr… He said: ‘He was the [most] extraordinary revolutionary and military commander. He was the politician as well as the academic who founded a Palestinian periodical in 1958. He was tolerant towards his people, and tough and terrifying to his enemies. He was the one who predicted the Stone Intifada (i.e., the first Palestinian wave of violence against Israel, 1988-1993), and he was the one who watered the [Palestinian] soil with his pure blood.’”

Abbas Zaki, PA representative to Lebanon:
"We must understand why Israel was established… [The Europeans] wanted to get rid of the Jews… At that same time, energy [oil] was discovered in the Arab region… They solved the [Jewish] problem by exporting [the Jews to] Israel [and at same time] they imposed their hegemony on the region’s natural resources. The [purpose of the] State of Israel is not for the Jews, but is an ongoing [colonial] project, an outpost of Imperialism.”

‎“Yesterday, [Jan. ‎‎18, 2000] Minister of Prisoners’ Affairs, ‎Hisham Abdul Razek met with members of ‎the Parliamentary Education and Social ‎Affairs Committee and informed them that ‎the [compensation] committee had ‎finished transferring the checks to those ‎entitled to them last week and added that ‎the total sum [of the distributed money] is ‎approximately 729,000 US dollars. He ‎elaborated and said that every prisoner ‎from Jerusalem whose home was ‎demolished received 7,000 dollars and ‎every prisoner from the West Bank or ‎Gaza Strip whose home was demolished ‎received 5,000 dollars. He said that there ‎are seven prisoners from Jerusalem and ‎the rest are from the West Bank and Gaza ‎Strip… And in a different context, ‎‎[minister] Abdul Razek explained that ‎the Ministry of Prisoners’ Affairs ‎considers anyone detained [in Israel] a ‎soldier of the PA and therefore and ‎accordingly, every prisoner is entitled to ‎the full rights of an ordinary soldier in ‎the [nation’s] service, including a salary ‎starting at 900 shekels. Head of the ‎Education Committee and member of ‎Parliament, Abbas Zaki asserted that the ‎prisoners should not be considered ‎only as [simple] soldiers and demanded ‎that they be awarded higher salaries ‎and military ranks – so that the Israeli ‎prison management would not treat ‎them as no more than simple soldiers.”‎
