Fatah condemns as "incitement" Israel's demands to stop paying salaries to terrorists, insists that terrorists are "symbols of our legitimate national struggle"

Headline: "Fatah condemns the Israeli incitement against the [PA] president and the prisoners"
"The East Gaza branch of the Fatah Movement said that it is monitoring with concern the organized and systematic incitement campaign that the occupation state's government is waging against [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian leadership on everything connected to the payment of the living allowances (mukhassasat) to the victims of the occupation and its actions (the Martyrs, wounded, and prisoners) [parentheses in source].
The movement said that it thinks that the goal of the [incitement] campaign is to disrupt the president's meeting with US President [Donald] Trump, which is expected to take place on May 3 [2017] at the White House,
In a statement published by the branch's Commission of Information, Fatah said: 'While the movement strongly condemns the onslaught of inciting lies against President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian leadership, it believes that the families of the Palestinian Martyrs, prisoners, and wounded are symbols of our legitimate national struggle and the conscience of the Palestinian people, and that they are victims of the Israeli occupation and its daily actions, which have deviated from all norms and violated all international laws.’
The movement emphasized: 'The Israeli occupation is the symbol and height of terror, and [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu and his racist government are the last ones that can talk about terror, as the acts of his government against the prisoners, children, holy sites, women, and Palestinian land, in addition to the fact that he funds the attacks of the settlers and the occupation soldiers, are the best testimony to the racism and fascism by which this government is characterized.'"

In a governmental meeting on April 23, 2017, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “The Palestinian Authority needs to stop funding the terrorists sitting in prison and stop funding the families of terrorists who were killed while committing their crimes. This is a simple and clear test of the Palestinians’ desire for peace. You cannot be in favor of peace with Israel, and at the same time glorify and fund the murderers of Israelis and the murderers of other innocents.” The statement came after Netanyahu, in an interview with Fox News on April 21, 2017, called on the PA to “stop paying terrorists.”
