The inauguration of the wall painting was done in honor of eternal Land Day (see note below –Ed.) and in the presence of Jihad Al-Wazir (i.e., the son of Abu Jihad and Intisar Al-Wazir), Deputy District Governor of Jenin Kamal Abu Al-Rub, Director of the Jenin Education Directorate (i.e., a branch of the PA Ministry of Education) Tareq Alawneh, Al-Yamun Mayor Naif Khamaiseh, and Fatah branch Secretary Ata Abu Armila…
Those who spoke emphasized the adherence to the path of struggle of Martyr Khalil Al-Wazir, who died as a Martyr for the freedom of Palestine and the establishment of its independent state, and enumerated the virtues of Martyr Abu Jihad.”

Abu Jihad (Khalil Al-Wazir) - was a founder of Fatah and deputy to Yasser Arafat. He headed the PLO terror organization's military wing and also planned many deadly Fatah terror attacks in the 1960’s - 1980’s. These attacks, in which a total of 125 Israelis were murdered, included the most lethal in Israeli history - the hijacking of a bus and murder of 37 civilians, 12 of them children.

Land Day – annual commemoration of the general strike and demonstrations organized by Israeli Arab residents of the Galilee on March 30, 1976 to protest the Israeli government's decision to expropriate land in the Galilee for security and building purposes, which it later implemented. During the protests, demonstrators burnt tires, blocked roads, and threw rocks and firebombs. Six demonstrators were shot and killed by the Israeli army and police. Israeli Arabs and Palestinians consider Land Day a national day.
