PA Minister of Prisoner’s Affairs attends wedding of son of released terrorist, honoring him and other terrorists

"Minister of Prisoners' Affairs, Issa Karake, visited the family of Palestinian prisoner Abd Al-Latif Shqeir in the village of Al-Zawiya in the Salfit region, on the 26th anniversary of his arrest, together with his fellow prisoners Al-Afu Shqeir and Ahmad Abu Jaber, and attended the wedding of his son Iyad, who chose to marry on this day. Karake accompanied a delegation from the Ministry of Prisoners' Affairs, including Ahmad Abu Sukkar, Sa'id Al-Ataba… The delegation met with the Abd Al-Latif family, his mother, father, and children, and a huge wedding and celebration were held in honor of the occasion, the marriage of his son, Iyad, who was three months old when his father was arrested.
Present at the celebrations of the anniversary and wedding were representatives of institutions and may national figures, foremost among them the Governor of the Salfit district, Issam Abu Bakr; Qadura Fares – Chairman of the Prisoners' Club; and Fahd Al-Hajj, director of the Abu Jihad Center for Prisoners' Affairs; secretaries of [Fatah] branches, and families of prisoners and released prisoners.
At the end of the celebration token gifts were awarded to the families of the three prisoners Abd Al-Latif Shqeir, Ahmad Abu Jaber, and Al-Afu Shqeir."
Note: Abd Al-Latif Shqeir – was serving a life sentence for involvement in terror attacks in the ‘70s and ‘80s and participation in the killing of an Israeli soldier in 1985. Was released in the Shalit exchange deal in 2011.
Al-Afu Shqeir – is serving a life sentence for participation in the killing of an Israeli soldier in 1985.
Ahmad Abu Jaber – is serving a life sentence for participation in the killing of an Israeli soldier in 1985.
Ahmad Abu Sukkar – planned a bombing attack in 1975 in which a refrigerator filled with explosives was detonated in Jerusalem. 15 people were killed and over 60 people were wounded. He was sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years, but was released from prison after 28 years as part of a goodwill gesture from Israel to the PA in 2003. He was a member of the Fatah Revolutionary Council and an advisor to Arafat on prisoners' affairs. He died of a heart attack in 2013 in the PA.
