PA depicts a world without Israel
Future: A world without Israel
PA depicts a world without Israel
The Palestinian Authority makes no attempt to educate its people towards peace and coexistence with Israel. On the contrary, from every possible platform it repeatedly rejects Israel's right to exist, presents the conflict as a religious battle for Islam, depicts the establishment of Israel as an act of imperialism, and perpetuates a picture of the Middle East, both verbally and visually, in which Israel does not exist at all. Israel's destruction is said to be both inevitable and a Palestinian obligation.

The following description of Israel's founding in a Palestinian schoolbook represents the dominant dogma about Israel:

"Palestine’s war ended with a catastrophe that is unprecedented in history, when the Zionist gangs stole Palestine … and established the so-called State of Israel."
[Arabic Language, Analysis, Literature and Criticism, grade 12, p. 104]
This official PA map of "Palestine” was broadcast on PA TV in September 2011. The map includes both the PA areas and all of Israel (excluding the Golan Heights) wrapped in the Palestinian flag - a symbol of Palestinian sovereignty over the whole area - and has a key through it, symbolizing ownership. Similar maps presenting all of Israel as "Palestine" appear in Palestinian schoolbooks and are shown regularly on PA TV.
Future: A world without Israel
The PA promises its people that in the future, the State of Israel will be completely erased and replaced by a State of Palestine. A Fatah member of Palestinian parliament, Najat Abu Bakr, told PA TV that the PA supports and adopts the “stages plan.” To the world, the PA claims that the Palestinians seek the West Bank and Gaza Strip, when in fact the goal is all of Israel: “It doesn’t mean that we don’t want the 1948 borders, but in our current political program we say we want a state on the 1967 borders.” [PA TV (Fatah), Aug. 25, 2008]

Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki reiterated this position on Al-Jazeera TV:
“It is impossible to realize the inspiring idea or the great goal in one stroke… Israel will come to an end… If I say that I want to remove it from existence, this will be great, great, [but] it is hard. This is not a [stated] policy. You can't say it to the world. You can say it to yourself.” [Al-Jazeera TV, Sept. 23, 2011]

The following words from a song on official PA TV, which started to appear in 2012, expresses longing for the day that Jaffa, Acre, Haifa and the Galilee, all in Israel, will be part of “my country” (“Palestine”) where all cities would be accessible "with no borders":
"I wish I could enter my country with no borders...
I will go about in Bethlehem and in Al-Aqsa [Mosque], which is held captive...
I do not forget Jenin or Nablus, and the Galilee
I do not forget you, Jaffa…
To Jerusalem, to Ramle, to Acre, to Haifa, oh Lord...
I wish I could enter my country with no borders." [PA TV (Fatah), Feb. 9, 2012]

The PA’s using culture to long for the destruction of Israel is not new. Many examples can be seen in this section below, including a music video, which aired on official PA TV from 2007 – 2009 and promises the liberation of “Palestine,” listing numerous Israeli cities as “Palestine”:
"We will liberate the Land of the religions … Palestine is Arab in history and identity… From Jerusalem and Acre, from Haifa and Jericho and Gaza and Ramallah, from Bethlehem and Jaffa, Be'er Sheba and Ramle, and from Nablus to the Galilee, from Tiberias to Hebron.”
Finally, the newest PA schoolbooks teach that "Palestine will be liberated by its men, its women, its young ones and its elderly." [Arabic Language and the Science of Language, grade 12, p. 44]
Abbas representative at graduation ceremony: “Palestine will remain Palestinian… We shall return”

"Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh, head of the university's Board of Trustees and representative of President Mahmoud Abbas, at the graduation ceremony… added: 'On your behalf I would like to tell [Israeli PM] Netanyahu that Al-Quds is not Jerusalem, that Ahmad is not Solomon, that Nablus is not Shekhem, and that Ariha is not Jericho. It makes no difference how much you forge history and geography: The land of Palestine will remain Palestinian and Arab. A plant from Brooklyn will not survive in Palestinian soil. We are the children of this land; we were hewn from it and we shall return to it."

“I have not forgotten my grandfather’s will about our principles and the right of return. He passed on to me the key to my town as security [to wear] around my neck until the Day of Judgment. It doesn’t matter how many years our absence will last; we shall return to you, Palestine.”

PA daily columnist: Return to Jerusalem, Haifa, and Jaffa is a "historical inevitability"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 16, 2011
Bader Makki, sports columnist:
“Yes, the whole world is in Palestine. It has come to emphasize the revival of Palestinian memory, which the occupation tries to erase, and to push away and to eliminate, but our cities, our villages and our towns in the Interior (i.e., in Israel) – which speak fluent Arabic – will not forget that the return to the land is a historical inevitability. This entity [Israel] has not yet learned that the will of the people will prevail, and that a right is not lost so long as it is backed up by demands. Yes, our strength is waning with age, but the dream will become a reality. Ask the mother of the Shahid and the mother of the prisoner, awaiting her son’s return in order to continue the struggle, up until Jerusalem, Haifa, and Jaffa. We shall see it.”
PA daily: "We will raise our flag over Al-Aqsa and the rest of Palestine"

Sheikh Ishaq Feleifel teaches religion:
"In this lesson I wanted to talk about Cain and Abel - that's the first story on earth, whose victim was Abel, at the hands of his brother Cain - because this story shows a similarity to the Jews and their crimes. The parallel is that when Allah mentioned the rebellion of the Children of Israel and their disobedience of Allah's commandment to wage war against the Giants, He mentioned the two sons of Adam and Cain's disobedience of Allah's words, and his unjust killing of an innocent soul, which Allah forbade. The Jews, by throwing off their yoke, followed in the footsteps of the first person on earth who threw off the yoke of Allah. Their [the Jews'] evil nature is drawn from Adam's first son... I chose this story because of the similarity it contains: here the Zionist Jews kill many of the Palestinian people every day... and they imprison their [Palestinian] youth who are defending their right and seeking by all means to restore the land to themselves. This is our right, and no one is permitted to prevent us from attaining it. We are destined to restore our homeland to ourselves, Allah willing, and we shall raise our flag over Al-Aqsa [Mosque] and the rest of Palestine, Allah willing."

Essay in PLO youth magazine calls for destruction of Israel
Source: Zayzafuna magazine, Apr. 1, 2011
In an essay entitled "Journey to the occupied land,” a girl in 8th grade promises to liberate “Palestine,” which is defined as land that Israel “entered” in 1948:
“I swear by Allah, I long for this journey… to the land stolen from us in a moment of distraction. They asked us [to have] a permit to enter our [own] land (i.e., to enter Israel)… more precious than our lives; since when does an owner need permission to enter his land? And how could he relinquish his land and his honor… They [Israel] used nothing but
weapons to achieve their goal. And that is the greatest proof that they are cowards. 1948 was the year they entered our land, and again in 1967, when they thought that our dreams of restoring our homeland had come to an end. Indeed… those who thought that after the occupation no one would dream of entering his [the Palestinian’s] land (i.e., enter into Israel) as a victor were mistaken. Oh Palestine, wipe away your tears for I shall not close my eyes until you are liberated.”

Zayzafuna is a PLO magazine for children funded by the PA. The magazine, which includes material written by both the magazine’s staff and child readers, represents the values of the educators and serves as a window into the minds of the Palestinian children submitting material to the magazine. PMW’s book Deception includes a chapter on Zayzafuna. Following PMW’s exposure of Hitler glorification in the February 2011 issue, UNESCO halted its funding of the magazine. PA Minister of Information: "The land will expel them [Israel], and history will curse them"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Mar. 1, 2011
“Almutawakel [Taha, PA Minister of Information] said: ‘Within the framework of political definition, I am fearful for Jerusalem. However, in the deeper spiritual, historical, cultural and social spheres I have no fear for [Jerusalem], but rather feel pity for the invaders [Israel] who will be forced, sooner or later, to take their curses with them and to flee. The land will expel them, and history will curse them.”
Arab Israeli newpaper: The Zionist project, like America, is in decline and will fall
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 11, 2011
"The birth of the Prophet in the year of the elephant was the beginning of the fall of the empires which then ruled the world, the Persian or Greek empire…
And now we, at this time, and on the birthday of Allah’s emissary, are watching the signs of the end of American rule and the fall of this rhinoceros…
We see this in the changes in Islamic societies and countries: Turkey and Iran before it, which were America’s great allies… and now Egypt and the blessed revolution against the regime of Mubarak, America’s greatest ally in the region…
And when speaking of the decline of the American empire and project in the region, what this means is the decline of the Zionist project as well, since it is connected to the American project as with an umbilical cord connecting a fetus to its mother."

Note: According to Muslim tradition, Muhammad was born in “the year of the elephant”. This name commemorates the Arab victory that year against Abraha Al-Ashram, the Christian ruler of a principality in Yemen, who marched on the Kaaba in Mecca with a huge army and many elephants. The elephant leading the expedition is said to have refused to enter Mecca. The attack was repulsed by the Arabs, with the aid of a flock of birds that flew overhead and pelted the Christian army with stones.
PA official refers to Jerusalem residents as "settlers in the occupied city"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 16, 2010
Deputy Minister of Information, poet Almutawaqel Taha:
“The settlers in the occupied city [Jerusalem] go about in it as they wish, declaring that they are the owners of these Islamic sites and claiming that [the sites] are part of the alleged Temple… The Israeli government attacked the writer, Deputy Minister of Information, Almutawaqel Taha, after he published a study concerning the Al-Buraq Wall, [i.e., The Western Wall of the Temple] in which he showed that [the wall] belongs exclusively to Muslims, and that it is an Islamic trust. [Taha] noted that in fact, by virtue of the tumult which the Israelis raised over the study, they demonstrated two means by which they always act: [the first-] casting fear on the Palestinians and Arabs, and second – that Israel is based on the means of theft and the claim of ownership of everything on which it lays its hand, while it steals the holy places in Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Hebron. He noted that [Israel] has stolen the ancient Palestinian heritage – popular foods, the Palestinian keffiyeh, and the clothing of the ‘fallah’ – claiming that these are its own heritage, and that they belong to Israel. He stated that Israel is carrying out all of these acts and actions by means of terror.”
Fatah official: We will not recognize the Jewishness of Israel
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 31, 2010
“The Palestinian National Liberation Movement, Fatah, emphasized that it will not recognize a ‘Jewish State’ and that the Palestinian people continues with the negotiations battle, maintaining its principles, and will not submit to Netanyahu’s conditions…. Movement spokesman, Ahmad Asaf added: ‘Recognition of the Jewishness of Israel not only contradicts international law, but also constitutes an approval for the expulsion of millions of Palestinians from their land and their homes in their historical homeland, and this is something which will never happen.”
PA official: PA will not recognize the Jewishness of Israel

“Advisor to the Prime Minister [Fayyad] on national affairs, Omar Al-Ghoul: ‘Netanyahu’s impossible conditions… come back to the policy of oppressive occupationist dictates. He still insists that the Palestinian authority recognize the Jewishness of the State of Israel – which would mean withholding civic rights from the Palestinians inside the Green Line [i.e., Arab Israeli citizens] and nullification of the right of return of the Palestinian refugees. This is something which the Palestinian leadership, and any Palestinian resident who believes in the peace option, does not accept.”
PA daily publicizes prisoner’s statements: "We will enjoy the destruction" of Israel
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 17, 2010
"Occupation forces arrested [Prisoner] Basem [Al-Khandaqaji] on Nov. 2nd, 2004, following the Carmel Market operation [terror attack], in which three Israelis were killed and a little less than 50 others were injured. His father told Al-Hayat al-Jadida: ‘When Basem was arrested, we thought the detention wouldn’t last long… He was given three life sentences, and he began his new path in prison.’ When the judge asked him to say something after the sentence was passed, Basem gave a moving political and human speech. He said, ‘In the past, you [Israelis] were the number one victim… I wasn’t born then; it was the tragedy of my people that was born. You turned from victim into a monster; you didn’t use gas chambers, but rather things that were worse than them. You killed and annihilated generations from among my people …’ When the judge asked him if he was guilty, Basem answered: ‘Address that question to the Israeli leaders; concerning the massacre that they carried out against a defenseless people. You are the new Nazis upon the earth, and hopefully we will enjoy the destruction and ruin that you will bring upon your own people because of your barbarism.’"

The next day, the Israeli army boarded the flotilla and was met with a well-coordinated attack, leading to the death of 9 flotilla participants. The following is a description of the mood on the ship before the confrontation:

"The [Gaza] flotilla commander said yesterday: 'We will not allow the Zionists to get near us and we will use resistance against them.'
How will they wage resistance? They will resist with their fingernails. They are people who seek Martyrdom for Allah, as much as they want to reach Gaza, but the first [Martyrdom] is more desirable." Click here to view

"On behalf of all of you [present at the event] I direct a clear message to the Israeli enemy: We say, at the very moments that you are inaugurating the new House of Destruction [the Hurva synagogue] – Oh historical project of destruction! At this moment we must make a recommendation to you. You, who killed your prophets, and whose fate throughout history has been destruction; you – even if you have an atom bomb – you are headed for destruction. You, who ruined every country you lived in - [it was] because of your actions [that] you were killed, you were expelled. You were destined for destruction and you remain so."
PA daily: Israeli books should be burned

Hafez Barghouti, editor of official PA daily, excerpts from editorial:
"Egyptian Minister Farouk Hosni lost the contest for the position of Director-General of UNESCO. His defeat was to be expected, following the Israeli campaign against him for having stated in the Egyptian parliament that he would burn any Israeli book that he found in an Egyptian library. However, this statement, which has been used against him as an Antisemitic statement, is not the direct cause of his defeat. Had he not made this statement, there would have been an Israeli campaign against him for not having visited Israel throughout his entire tenure as Egyptian Minister of Culture. Passing through Israel is a condition for receiving "quality certification" to enter international circles. Without it, the sword of [the accusation of] of Antisemitism would have hung over him…
