PA depicts a world without Israel
Future: A world without Israel
PA depicts a world without Israel
The Palestinian Authority makes no attempt to educate its people towards peace and coexistence with Israel. On the contrary, from every possible platform it repeatedly rejects Israel's right to exist, presents the conflict as a religious battle for Islam, depicts the establishment of Israel as an act of imperialism, and perpetuates a picture of the Middle East, both verbally and visually, in which Israel does not exist at all. Israel's destruction is said to be both inevitable and a Palestinian obligation.

The following description of Israel's founding in a Palestinian schoolbook represents the dominant dogma about Israel:

"Palestine’s war ended with a catastrophe that is unprecedented in history, when the Zionist gangs stole Palestine … and established the so-called State of Israel."
[Arabic Language, Analysis, Literature and Criticism, grade 12, p. 104]

This official PA map of "Palestine” was broadcast on PA TV in September 2011. The map includes both the PA areas and all of Israel (excluding the Golan Heights) wrapped in the Palestinian flag - a symbol of Palestinian sovereignty over the whole area - and has a key through it, symbolizing ownership. Similar maps presenting all of Israel as "Palestine" appear in Palestinian schoolbooks and are shown regularly on PA TV.
Future: A world without Israel
The PA promises its people that in the future, the State of Israel will be completely erased and replaced by a State of Palestine. A Fatah member of Palestinian parliament, Najat Abu Bakr, told PA TV that the PA supports and adopts the “stages plan.” To the world, the PA claims that the Palestinians seek the West Bank and Gaza Strip, when in fact the goal is all of Israel: “It doesn’t mean that we don’t want the 1948 borders, but in our current political program we say we want a state on the 1967 borders.” [PA TV (Fatah), Aug. 25, 2008]

Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki reiterated this position on Al-Jazeera TV:
“It is impossible to realize the inspiring idea or the great goal in one stroke… Israel will come to an end… If I say that I want to remove it from existence, this will be great, great, [but] it is hard. This is not a [stated] policy. You can't say it to the world. You can say it to yourself.” [Al-Jazeera TV, Sept. 23, 2011]

The following words from a song on official PA TV, which started to appear in 2012, expresses longing for the day that Jaffa, Acre, Haifa and the Galilee, all in Israel, will be part of “my country” (“Palestine”) where all cities would be accessible "with no borders":
"I wish I could enter my country with no borders...
I will go about in Bethlehem and in Al-Aqsa [Mosque], which is held captive...
I do not forget Jenin or Nablus, and the Galilee
I do not forget you, Jaffa…
To Jerusalem, to Ramle, to Acre, to Haifa, oh Lord...
I wish I could enter my country with no borders." [PA TV (Fatah), Feb. 9, 2012]

The PA’s using culture to long for the destruction of Israel is not new. Many examples can be seen in this section below, including a music video, which aired on official PA TV from 2007 – 2009 and promises the liberation of “Palestine,” listing numerous Israeli cities as “Palestine”:
"We will liberate the Land of the religions … Palestine is Arab in history and identity… From Jerusalem and Acre, from Haifa and Jericho and Gaza and Ramallah, from Bethlehem and Jaffa, Be'er Sheba and Ramle, and from Nablus to the Galilee, from Tiberias to Hebron.”

Finally, the newest PA schoolbooks teach that "Palestine will be liberated by its men, its women, its young ones and its elderly." [Arabic Language and the Science of Language, grade 12, p. 44]
Hamas leader Haniyeh: Armed resistance is path, Palestine is from the sea to the river
Source: Al-Aqsa TV (Hamas), Dec. 14, 2011
Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh:
"We say today, explicitly, so it cannot be explained otherwise, that the armed resistance and the armed struggle are the path and the strategic choice for liberating the Palestinian land, from the [Mediterranean] sea to the [Jordan] river, and for the expulsion of the invaders and usurpers [Israel] from the blessed land of Palestine. The Hamas movement will lead Intifada after Intifada until we liberate Palestine - all of Palestine, Allah willing. Allah Akbar and praise Allah. We say with transparency and in a clear manner, that Palestinian reconciliation - and all sides must know this - cannot come at the expense of [our] principles, at the expense of the resistance. These principles are absolute and cannot be disputed: Palestine - all of Palestine - is from the sea to the river. We won't relinquish one inch of the land of Palestine. The involvement of Hamas at any stage with the interim objective of liberation of [only[ Gaza, the West Bank, or Jerusalem, does not replace its strategic view concerning Palestine and the land of Palestine."

Hamas leader: “You [Israel] will be brought out of Palestine – all of Palestine… We will annihilate your existence”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 7, 2011
"In a speech entitled 'At Your Command, Jerusalem' which he delivered at the Sixth Conference to Maintain the Principles [held] yesterday, [senior Hamas member] Al-Zahar said: 'We state explicitly and in the clearest manner […] to anyone concerned – he must know that we are the resistance program which will not cast down its weapons until all of Palestine is liberated.'
He added that he is talking about all 'forms of the resistance known to this period and all periods.' He emphasized, 'We are altogether convinced that we will restore all of our land, from Rosh Hanikra (i.e., in Northern Israel) to Rafiah (i.e., southern part of the Gaza Strip), and we will join the enterprise of our glorious nation in order to realize its tremendous cultural enterprise.'
He added, 'We say to Israel - just as these prisoners [freed in the recent prisoner exchange deal] were brought out of prison, so you will be brought out of Palestine – all of Palestine… Know, Zionists, in every country in which you find yourselves: You will not extinguish the eternal oil lamp of Jerusalem, nor will you silence the sound of the [church] bells and the minarets (…) [Rather,] it is we who will annihilate your existence."
Poem in youth magazine "Zayzafuna" promises the liberation of "Palestine"

"From behind the prison bars,
From behind the prison cells of torture, a cry -
They cried, 'Forgive us, oh Palestine,
We have responded your cry and your request,
But we were unable to answer to your hope for victory and for liberation.
Do you know why?
Because your enemy betrayed us
Because your enemy imprisoned us
Because your enemy made us taste bitterness.
But don't worry, don't worry, oh Palestine,
Because pain on your behalf is light, even though our children are waiting for our return every celebration and holiday.
But don't worry Palestine,
We will liberate you
We will respond to your request and your call.
You will be liberated by our hand,
Our promise, promise, promise, oh Palestine.'"

Essay in PA-funded youth mag lauds Arafat for promising "liberation of all the Palestinian land... without compromise"
Source: Zayzafuna magazine, Dec. 1, 2011
"Yasser Arafat, the eternal leader... In his youth, destiny had him move to beloved Egypt, where he completed his university education. But the pictures from his youth that were engraved in his memory and what he had heard about Britain and the wild Zionist gangs who were maltreating and torturing the people of Palestine, awakened his burning nationalist feelings. He hurried with a group of friends to establish armed units of struggle (i.e., Fatah terror organization), and to declare its eruption with lighting the first spark, doing the first action (i.e., terror attack) in the depths of Zionist territory which shook up all their cobweb-homes... And he told the entire world that we will struggle in all ways, revolutionary and peaceful, until the liberation of all the Palestinian land, without bargaining, without compromise on any of our legal rights."

Hamas Foreign Minister: Palestinian state must be achieved “on every inch of ground”
Source: Al-Aqsa TV (Hamas), Oct. 21, 2011
Speaker of Friday sermon in refugee camp in Gaza: Foreign Minister of Hamas government, Mahmoud Al-Zahar. In the audience: prisoners released in the Shalit deal.
     Al-Zahar
[speaking of Palestinian request for statehood recognition at the UN]: "We are in favor of achieving a state, but upon every inch of ground. Without relinquishing a single piece of of land. If their efforts [Abbas’ and the PA’s] lead to [a state within] the '67 borders, then let us cooperate up until that stage. But the '67 borders are not our borders. Our borders are well-known, and moreover, our borders are greater than Palestine."
Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki: Goal is end of Israel, but "you can't say that to the world"
Source: Al-Jazeera TV, Sept. 23, 2011
"The agreement is based on the borders of June 4 [1967]. While the agreement is on the borders of June 4, the President [Mahmoud Abbas] understands, we understand, and everyone knows that it is impossible to realize the inspiring idea, or the great goal in one stroke. If Israel withdraws from Jerusalem, if Israel uproots the settlements, 650,000 settlers, if Israel removes the (security) fence - what will be with Israel? Israel will come to an end. If I say that I want to remove it from existence, this will be great, great, [but] it is hard. This is not a [stated] policy. You can't say it to the world. You can say it to yourself."

PA TV documentary: Arab homes will be built at Western Wall, Jews praying there are "sin and filth"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Aug. 10, 2011
"They [Israelis] know for certain that our [Palestinian] roots are deeper than their false history. We, from the balcony of our home, look out over [Islamic] holiness and on sin and filth (Jews' praying at Western Wall) in an area that used to have [Arab] people and homes. We are drawing our new maps. When they [Israelis] disappear from the picture, like a forgotten chapter in the pages of our city's history, we will build it anew (residential area). The Mughrabi Quarter will be built here (on the Western Wall Plaza)."

PA TV host hopes that Israel "will not continue to exist"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Aug. 8, 2011
PA TV program In a Fighter's Home visits the Lower Galilee.
PA TV host: "This is the Jujube tree (in Arabic: 'dum'). We eat its fruit. (The Arabic name for the tree is derived from the word meaning "to survive," "to persist"). When we say 'dum' it means something that will continue to exist; in other words, something that we love and is dear to us will continue to exist and will remain.
But our land, Allah willing, will not continue to exist for the Jews who expelled us, the Zionists. We and the Jews have not, so far, managed to live together. The Zionists want to erase our existence from Palestine. The 'dum' tree (i.e., metaphorically, 'existence'), Allah willing, will not continue to exist for them."
Abbas representative at graduation ceremony: “Palestine will remain Palestinian… We shall return”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 9, 2011
Headline: "Arab-American University celebrates graduation of its eighth class of students"
"Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh, head of the university's Board of Trustees and representative of President Mahmoud Abbas, at the graduation ceremony… added: 'On your behalf I would like to tell [Israeli PM] Netanyahu that Al-Quds is not Jerusalem, that Ahmad is not Solomon, that Nablus is not Shekhem, and that Ariha is not Jericho. It makes no difference how much you forge history and geography: The land of Palestine will remain Palestinian and Arab. A plant from Brooklyn will not survive in Palestinian soil. We are the children of this land; we were hewn from it and we shall return to it."
Man on PA TV vows "we shall return to you, Palestine"

“I have not forgotten my grandfather’s will about our principles and the right of return. He passed on to me the key to my town as security [to wear] around my neck until the Day of Judgment. It doesn’t matter how many years our absence will last; we shall return to you, Palestine.”

PA daily columnist: Return to Jerusalem, Haifa, and Jaffa is a "historical inevitability"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 16, 2011
Bader Makki, sports columnist:
“Yes, the whole world is in Palestine. It has come to emphasize the revival of Palestinian memory, which the occupation tries to erase, and to push away and to eliminate, but our cities, our villages and our towns in the Interior (i.e., in Israel) – which speak fluent Arabic – will not forget that the return to the land is a historical inevitability. This entity [Israel] has not yet learned that the will of the people will prevail, and that a right is not lost so long as it is backed up by demands. Yes, our strength is waning with age, but the dream will become a reality. Ask the mother of the Shahid and the mother of the prisoner, awaiting her son’s return in order to continue the struggle, up until Jerusalem, Haifa, and Jaffa. We shall see it.”
PA daily: "We will raise our flag over Al-Aqsa and the rest of Palestine"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 13, 2011
Sheikh Ishaq Feleifel teaches religion:
"In this lesson I wanted to talk about Cain and Abel - that's the first story on earth, whose victim was Abel, at the hands of his brother Cain - because this story shows a similarity to the Jews and their crimes. The parallel is that when Allah mentioned the rebellion of the Children of Israel and their disobedience of Allah's commandment to wage war against the Giants, He mentioned the two sons of Adam and Cain's disobedience of Allah's words, and his unjust killing of an innocent soul, which Allah forbade. The Jews, by throwing off their yoke, followed in the footsteps of the first person on earth who threw off the yoke of Allah. Their [the Jews'] evil nature is drawn from Adam's first son... I chose this story because of the similarity it contains: here the Zionist Jews kill many of the Palestinian people every day... and they imprison their [Palestinian] youth who are defending their right and seeking by all means to restore the land to themselves. This is our right, and no one is permitted to prevent us from attaining it. We are destined to restore our homeland to ourselves, Allah willing, and we shall raise our flag over Al-Aqsa [Mosque] and the rest of Palestine, Allah willing."

Essay in PLO youth magazine calls for destruction of Israel
Source: Zayzafuna magazine, Apr. 1, 2011
In an essay entitled "Journey to the occupied land,” a girl in 8th grade promises to liberate “Palestine,” which is defined as land that Israel “entered” in 1948:
“I swear by Allah, I long for this journey… to the land stolen from us in a moment of distraction. They asked us [to have] a permit to enter our [own] land (i.e., to enter Israel)… more precious than our lives; since when does an owner need permission to enter his land? And how could he relinquish his land and his honor… They [Israel] used nothing but
weapons to achieve their goal. And that is the greatest proof that they are cowards. 1948 was the year they entered our land, and again in 1967, when they thought that our dreams of restoring our homeland had come to an end. Indeed… those who thought that after the occupation no one would dream of entering his [the Palestinian’s] land (i.e., enter into Israel) as a victor were mistaken. Oh Palestine, wipe away your tears for I shall not close my eyes until you are liberated.”

PA Minister of Information: "The land will expel them [Israel], and history will curse them"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Mar. 1, 2011
“Almutawakel [Taha, PA Minister of Information] said: ‘Within the framework of political definition, I am fearful for Jerusalem. However, in the deeper spiritual, historical, cultural and social spheres I have no fear for [Jerusalem], but rather feel pity for the invaders [Israel] who will be forced, sooner or later, to take their curses with them and to flee. The land will expel them, and history will curse them.”
Arab Israeli newpaper: The Zionist project, like America, is in decline and will fall
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 11, 2011
"The birth of the Prophet in the year of the elephant was the beginning of the fall of the empires which then ruled the world, the Persian or Greek empire…
And now we, at this time, and on the birthday of Allah’s emissary, are watching the signs of the end of American rule and the fall of this rhinoceros…
We see this in the changes in Islamic societies and countries: Turkey and Iran before it, which were America’s great allies… and now Egypt and the blessed revolution against the regime of Mubarak, America’s greatest ally in the region…
And when speaking of the decline of the American empire and project in the region, what this means is the decline of the Zionist project as well, since it is connected to the American project as with an umbilical cord connecting a fetus to its mother."

Note: According to Muslim tradition, Muhammad was born in “the year of the elephant”. This name commemorates the Arab victory that year against Abraha Al-Ashram, the Christian ruler of a principality in Yemen, who marched on the Kaaba in Mecca with a huge army and many elephants. The elephant leading the expedition is said to have refused to enter Mecca. The attack was repulsed by the Arabs, with the aid of a flock of birds that flew overhead and pelted the Christian army with stones.
PA official refers to Jerusalem residents as "settlers in the occupied city"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 16, 2010
Deputy Minister of Information, poet Almutawaqel Taha:
“The settlers in the occupied city [Jerusalem] go about in it as they wish, declaring that they are the owners of these Islamic sites and claiming that [the sites] are part of the alleged Temple… The Israeli government attacked the writer, Deputy Minister of Information, Almutawaqel Taha, after he published a study concerning the Al-Buraq Wall, [i.e., The Western Wall of the Temple] in which he showed that [the wall] belongs exclusively to Muslims, and that it is an Islamic trust. [Taha] noted that in fact, by virtue of the tumult which the Israelis raised over the study, they demonstrated two means by which they always act: [the first-] casting fear on the Palestinians and Arabs, and second – that Israel is based on the means of theft and the claim of ownership of everything on which it lays its hand, while it steals the holy places in Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Hebron. He noted that [Israel] has stolen the ancient Palestinian heritage – popular foods, the Palestinian keffiyeh, and the clothing of the ‘fallah’ – claiming that these are its own heritage, and that they belong to Israel. He stated that Israel is carrying out all of these acts and actions by means of terror.”
Fatah official: We will not recognize the Jewishness of Israel
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 31, 2010
“The Palestinian National Liberation Movement, Fatah, emphasized that it will not recognize a ‘Jewish State’ and that the Palestinian people continues with the negotiations battle, maintaining its principles, and will not submit to Netanyahu’s conditions…. Movement spokesman, Ahmad Asaf added: ‘Recognition of the Jewishness of Israel not only contradicts international law, but also constitutes an approval for the expulsion of millions of Palestinians from their land and their homes in their historical homeland, and this is something which will never happen.”
PA official: PA will not recognize the Jewishness of Israel
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 24, 2010
“Advisor to the Prime Minister [Fayyad] on national affairs, Omar Al-Ghoul: ‘Netanyahu’s impossible conditions… come back to the policy of oppressive occupationist dictates. He still insists that the Palestinian authority recognize the Jewishness of the State of Israel – which would mean withholding civic rights from the Palestinians inside the Green Line [i.e., Arab Israeli citizens] and nullification of the right of return of the Palestinian refugees. This is something which the Palestinian leadership, and any Palestinian resident who believes in the peace option, does not accept.”
