Fatah official: Fatah believes in "resistance in all its forms," which includes "armed resistance"
Al-Quds Al-Arabi (London newspaper) - Aug. 10, 2015

Headline: “Al-Aloul to Al-Quds Al-Arabi: ‘The talk about a replacement for the president [Abbas] are ‘Israeli wishes’ and our next program will adopt resistance in all its forms”
“[Fatah Central Committee member] Mahmoud Al-Aloul revealed in an interview to Al-Quds Al-Arabi that the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, will remain at the head of the movement in the near future. Likewise, he emphasized that the political program which the approaching Seventh General Conference of the [Fatah] movement will adopt the option of resistance in all its forms to confront the occupation.
Al-Aloul, who is the Fatah Commissioner for Mobilization and Organization on the West Bank and a Fatah Central Committee member, said that the preparations for holding the conference as scheduled, at the end of November [2015], are proceeding as planned…
Al-Quds Al-Arabi asked if Fatah will make any changes to the political plan that the Sixth Conference adopted in 2009. Al-Aloul stressed that the program will almost certainly go through a ‘development process,’ but that its essence will not change. He added: ‘The political program will be developed, but we will retain the political declaration that appeared in the introduction to the program in the previous conference. Regarding this, he emphasized that the Fatah movement will continue to define itself in its program and in its internal charter as a ’national liberation movement which is fighting for the liberation and independence of its people.’ Likewise, he stressed that the political program will emphasize that the Fatah movement ‘believes in resistance in all its forms as part of the plan to confront the occupation.’
From Al-Aloul’s words it can be understood that Fatah, which has adopted the option of armed resistance since the 60s of the previous century, has still not abandoned this option, despite the fact that at the moment it is implementing the option of ‘popular resistance.’ The Fatah movement’s program from the movement’s Sixth Conference met with Israeli opposition, since it did not abandon the option of resistance in all its forms, but at the time adopted the document that Fatah Central Committee member Mahmoud Al-Aloul presented. [At Fatah’s Sixth General Conference,] Al-Aloul presented a document with five points, according to which the Fatah movement adheres to being a national liberation movement whose goal is to eliminate and expel the occupation and achieve independence; the movement’s main dispute is with the occupation; it adheres to the basic Palestinian principles; despite its adherence to the option of a just peace, and its efforts to obtain it, it will not abandon any of the options available to it; it believes that resistance to the occupation is the legal right of occupied peoples in their dealings with their occupiers.”
