| PA depicts a world without Israel |
The Palestinian Authority makes no attempt to educate its people towards peace and coexistence with Israel. On the contrary, from every possible platform it repeatedly rejects Israel's right to exist, presents the conflict as a religious battle for Islam, depicts the establishment of Israel as an act of imperialism, and perpetuates a picture of the Middle East, both verbally and visually, in which Israel does not exist at all. Israel's destruction is said to be both inevitable and a Palestinian obligation.
The following description of Israel's founding in a Palestinian schoolbook represents the dominant dogma about Israel:

"Palestine’s war ended with a catastrophe that is unprecedented in history, when the Zionist gangs stole Palestine … and established the State of Israel."
[Arabic Language, Analysis, Literature and Criticism, grade 12, p. 104]
This official PA map of "Palestine” was broadcast on PA TV in September 2011. The map includes both the PA areas and all of Israel (excluding the Golan Heights) wrapped in the Palestinian flag - a symbol of Palestinian sovereignty over the whole area - and has a key through it, symbolizing ownership. Similar maps presenting all of Israel as "Palestine" appear in Palestinian schoolbooks and are shown regularly on PA TV. |
|
| "Palestine" replaces Israel |
The Palestinian Authority paints a picture - both verbally and visually - of a world in which Israel does not exist. Children’s educational TV teaches that Palestine currently is a "state" (Arabic "dawla" = state) covering 27,000 sq. km - i.e., an area that includes all of Israel (the entire West Bank and Gaza Strip total only 6220 sq. km). Moreover, all Israel’s cities and infrastructure are referred to as "Palestinian": “Palestinian ports ... [are] Haifa, Jaffa, Ashkelon, Eilat, Ashdod, and Gaza". [PA TV (Fatah), Sept. 1 2008].
Maps provide visual reinforcement for this perception: Israel does not exist on any map; its area is marked as "Palestine." Maps showing the entire area of Israel covered with the Palestinian flag are routinely displayed at official PA events.
This educational documentary, depicting all parts of Israel as “Palestine," has been broadcast repeatedly on PA TV (Fatah) from 2007 – Oct 1, 2010:
“The West Bank and Gaza have another section in Palestine which is the Palestinian coast that spreads along the [Mediterranean] sea, from …Ashkelon in the south up to Haifa, in the Carmel Mountains. Haifa is a well-known Palestinian port. [Haifa] enjoyed a respected status among Arabs and Palestinians especially before it fell to the ‘occupation’ [Israel] in 1948. To its north, we find Acre. East of Acre, we reach a city with history and importance, the city of Tiberias, near a famous lake, the lake of Tiberias [Kinneret- sea of Galilee]. Jaffa, an ancient coastal city, is the bride of the sea, and Palestine’s gateway to the world.” |

Rajoub: "They are coming to the occupied lands. All of Palestine - from the [Jordan] river to the [Mediterranean] sea (i.e., all of Israel) - it's all occupied."
TV host: "I mean the Israeli occupied lands."
Rajoub: "You mean [occupied in] 1948 (i.e., Israel's establishment)?"
TV host: "Yes."
Rajoub: "On August 3 [2013] they are coming to us. Where they go after that - I'm not responsible for them... There was a stupid Israeli attempt to do something (a sports activity) together. Of course, they try to use Barcelona as a fig leaf to hide their crimes against the Palestinian sports. "

PA TV: Raise Palestinian flags over Israeli cities "so it will be clear... that this is Palestine"
|
|
Source:
Palestinian TV (Fatah), May 12, 2013

PA TV narrator: "On the anniversary of the Nakba (“the catastrophe,” Palestinian term for Israel's establishment), May 15, we will raise the Palestinian flag at the entrance to every village and city in Palestine to declare that this land is the Land of Palestine, and that the occupation will never stop us from adhering to our Palestinian national principles. We will raise the flag of Palestine at the entrance to every village and city – Jaffa, Nazareth, Haifa, Acre, Lod and Ramle (Israeli cities). The flag will be raised in all towns on Nakba Day. We’ll raise the flag from lamp posts, on rooftops, at city squares, at crossroads and on traffic lights. Most important is that it be raised at the entrance to the city so that it will be clear to everyone that this is Palestine."

I do not forget Jenin nor Nablus, and the Galilee
I do not forget you, Jaffa, your long sea [shore]
I will never forget the olives of the Galilee
Even if our path has grown long, one day we will return:
To Jerusalem, to Gaza, to Acre, to Haifa, oh Lord.
To Jerusalem, to Ramle, to Acre, to Haifa, oh Lord...

Bethlehem Governor denies that map-shaped monument erasing Israel was removed for Obama's visit

Picture of monument removed from square in Bethlehem,
Ma'an News Agency, March 20, 2013 |
"Bethlehem District Governor, Minister Abd Al-Fattah Hamail, and Mayor Vera Baboun, held a press conference yesterday to clarify details of what happened to the State Monument and why it was removed... Hamail said that it has been decided to redo the monument at the Nisan Square, known as 'Khaikhoun Square,' and place a monument symbolizing the Palestinian people's pursuit of freedom and peace next to the State Monument, according to the proposal submitted by the artist Akram Nastas. He also noted that the map engraved on the monument is the map of Palestine, which represents national symbolism and is implanted in the hearts of all Palestinians. He added that it is forbidden to infringe on the patriotism of even one Palestinian, whether he is a senior official or not. Hamail denied that Americans had any connection to the subject (i.e., the removal of the map), and said: 'Everyone knows that Americans do not dictate any Palestinian decisions, as the Americans fought until the last minute against the decision to appeal to the UN, and President Mahmoud Abbas rejected this intervention and achieved the UN resolution regarding the [Palestinian] state. This monument illustrates this policy, and no one can remove it, no matter what happens.'"

Picture of the monument that was removed from the square in Bethlehem,

 |
| Picture published with the article showing Obama's picture on the ground being defaced |
"Obama's upcoming visit to Bethlehem weighs heavily on the City of the Nativity. Every day, reporters asked residents their opinion about the visit. Most of them expressed opposition to US policy regarding the Palestinian issue...
Activists laid a large picture of Obama on the ground at the intersection of Bab Al-Dir, not far from the Church of the Nativity. Cars drove over the picture and then it was burned.
It seems that in the city, there are those who not only welcome the visit of the American President, but are willing to go even further... Residents were surprised to find that a model of the map of Palestine engraved with details about the Nakba ("the catastrophe," the Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel) and an olive tree were removed from the Al-Karkafa Square, to be replaced by a model of what was described as a peace dove. This enraged many people who gathered there."

Al-Rafi’i: “The Palestinian cause cannot gain its rightful place without the people’s determination, and without the will of the people of Palestine and the Arabic Nation to pursue a popular armed struggle. [We] must reorganize and make good use of Gaza’s resolve. These eight days during which the Arab and Palestinian nation tasted the bitterness of suffering. "The West Bank and Gaza have another section in Palestine which is the Palestinian coast that spreads along the [Mediterranean] sea, from ...Ashkelon in the south, until Haifa, in the Carmel Mountains. Haifa is a well-known Palestinian port. [Haifa] enjoyed a high status among Arabs and Palestinians, especially before it fell to the occupation [Israel] in 1948. To its north, we find Acre. East of Acre, we reach a city with history and importance, the city of Tiberias, near a famous lake, the Sea of Galilee. Jaffa, an ancient coastal city, is the bride of the sea, and Palestine's gateway to the world."

PA daily: The Israeli Negev region is in "southern Palestine"
|
|
Source:
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 13, 2012
|
"The Fatah Commission for Recruitment and Organization announced that the movement will reinter the remains of Martyrs (Shahids) Ramzi Shahin and Anis Khalil, the Martyrs of the Negev operation (Guards of Al-Asqsa and the Holy Sepulcher unit), today, after their bodies were released from the so-called 'numbered cemeteries' (i.e., Israeli cemeteries for terrorists and enemy soldiers)… Martyr Ramzi Shahin, born in 1970, and Martyr Anis Khalil, born in 1966, died as Martyrs on Nov. 11, 1991 in the Negev region in southern Palestine, after they crossed the Egyptian border in the direction of the occupied land, along with a self-sacrificing unit numbering four fighters. A battle broke out, in which the revolutionaries died as Martyrs, while the occupation authorities did not publish [the number of] its casualties.”
Note: PMW has not been able to find additional information on the terrorists.
The Cemeteries for Enemy Casualties are two burial sites that are maintained by the Israeli army and are used to bury the bodies of enemy soldiers as well as terrorists. The burial sites are fenced and marked as such. The graves have markers instead of gravestones. The burial is temporary, with the assumption that the bodies will be returned to their countries in the future. No ceremony is held, and the body is buried in a numbered casket, after the details of the body's identity have been documented.

PA official defines "Palestine" as including modern-day Israel
|

Source:
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, June 3, 2012

Yahya Rabah, PA daily columnist and member of the Fatah Leadership Committee in Gaza:
"First of all, I bow my head in love, respect and pride towards the Martyrs (Shahids) and the injured who fell on the national battlefield against the Israeli occupation in Gaza, two days ago (see below – ed.). They are all… from respected, well-known families who have mobilized powerfully for the present Palestinian revolution. An example is the hero from the Abu Tir family, who started a battle with the occupation forces, fought alone for a long time, and killed one of the armed Israeli soldiers before falling as a Martyr, despite the tremendous advantage of the enemy!!! ... You know that the Israeli enemy - who has occupied all of Palestine, from the furthest point in Rafiah to the furthest point in Rosh HaNikra (i.e., Israel’s most northern coastal point); from the [Jordan] river to the [Mediterranean] sea – acts in this way [occupation], through various means… Oh Fedayeen [self-sacrificing fighters]: You are Martyrs and you live with your Creator, and He takes care of you. Your hands are not stained with Palestinian blood, and your conscience does not carry the pain of the crime of Palestinian division [between factions]. I love you [Martyrs]; I support you. You live with your Lord and with your people, while the people of division and their cronies – it is they who are dead."
Note: On Friday, June 1, 2012, a terrorist infiltrated Israeli territory near the Kissufim crossing in Gaza. He was spotted and Israeli soldiers were dispatched towards him. The terrorist opened fire on the soldiers, killing one of them.

PA TV News broadcast a film in Lebanon, concerning the campaign to revive national memory and inculcate it among the younger generation.
Young girl reads a poem:
"If only I was a bird flying
and hovering over my land.
If only I was a sheaf of wheat
with the wind of my land blowing through it.
If only I was a rebel's bullet,
aimed at my enemies.
Do you know who I am?
You know who I am?
I am a flower for picking; I am a girl of Palestine, I am a girl, one of the children of Palestine in the countries of exile."
Another girl: "I am from Alma, [a village] in the Safed region. The area of Palestine is 27,027 square kilometers."
Note: The combined area of the West Bank and Gaza Strip totals 6,220 sq. km. Only if Israel did not exist could Palestine be 26,990 sq. km. |

PA TV program Youth of the Land includes a short film about freedom, dedicated to Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons. As the narrator speaks, his words are illustrated with different pictures.
PA TV host: "A short word from the program Youth of the Land to our prisoners in the occupation's prisons, today, on Palestinian Prisoners' Day. Let's watch it together, and then we'll conclude our discussion.
Narrator in film: "Freedom is that you feel your breath [when you're in] your land [visual shows map of all of Israel], at the entrance to your home, and among your children. Freedom is when you know that you'll be eating your breakfast with your family, with your wife, with your mother, with your friends. Freedom is when you can decide when to go to sleep and when to get up, when to go out and when to come in. Freedom is that you can speak without fear for what you're saying, and knowing that the tree that you plant is the same tree you'll be eating from in two or three years' time. Freedom is when you live your life as you wish to, not as someone who came from Nigeria wants you to. Freedom is when you go to the barber on the eve of a holiday, and you wait among the people. You wait in line at the bank, and also [in the line] for falafel. Freedom is when you live a natural life, just an ordinary, relaxed, sweet life without roadblocks, walls, and barbed- wire fences. Freedom is when you say 'Good morning' to the people in the country [visual shows map of all of Israel] and ask them, 'How are you today?' Freedom is when you desire freedom for it [visual shows map of all of Israel] and for the people. Greetings from Youth of the Land, to the prisoners of freedom."

PA TV host (speaking from a well that provided water for the Arabs of Sajra, in the Galilee):
"We are writing here 'Returning', and Allah willing, we will return to our land and come back to it. I say to you: 'Hello, Abu Arab,' [reference to poet named Ibrahim Muhammad Salah, originally from Sajra] and I say to you, 'Allah willing, we will return to our land, which connects us with our ancestors. We are returning, Abu Arab; the Palestinians who are dispersed in foreign lands, wherever they are, are returning.' I am also writing here: 'Returning', and I'm writing my name, [to say] that I came here, and we are returning, Allah willing."
As she comes up out of the well, the host says: 'Now we'll see approximately how many dunams [of land] the Israelis stole: 7800 [dunams]."
At the end of the program, the host stands next to a Christ's Thorn Jujube tree and says: "Allah willing, this land will not forever belong to the Jews who took us out – (host corrects herself) the Zionists, because thus far we are still able to live with them, but the Zionists want to erase our existence from Palestine altogether, forever ("dum" in Arabic is the name of the tree and also means “forever”) Allah willing, it will not remain theirs forever."

Director of the Al-Kasaba Theater in Ramallah, George Ibrahim, talks about Israeli Arabs participating in a theater festival in Damascus:
"There was a precedent for our Palestinian brothers (i.e., Israeli Arabs) in the occupied land (i.e., Israel) to visit Damascus."
Israeli Arab actress Nasrin Fa'ur responded that for her to go to a Cairo festival, she was forced to say she was from Ramallah in the West Bank or Jerusalem, "but I'm from Tarshiha, in northern Palestine (i.e., northern Israel)."

Source:
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 19, 2010

The cartoon shows a teacher teaching a Palestinian child the letters of the alphabet. However, the text in the child's mind shows that he visualizes the map of "Palestine" replacing all of Israel before he starts learning the alphabet. The cartoon also carries a message of violence, with the child's pencil shaped like a slingshot, with a stone lying next to it.
Text in teacher's book: "a, b, c, d, e, f ... p, q r, s, t..."
Text in child's mind: "[Map of Palestine covering Israel] a, b, c..."

In November 2009, PA TV introduced a weekly quiz program entitled The Stars. The first season was funded by the European Union and the quiz questions all related to Europe, covering topics such as history, geography, personalities, government, culture, arts, and sports. Each program featured competing representatives from two Palestinian Authority universities or colleges. In January 2010 the competition ended, and the last program showed a prize ceremony with the participation of Minister of Welfare Majda Al-Masri; Minister of Prisoners' Affairs Issa Karake; and director of the MAAN news agency, Nasser A-Lahham.
In May 2010 a new series of the program was announced which is being sponsored by the cell phone company Jawwal. Palestinian Media Watch has been unable to verify whether this season is also sponsored by the EU as the prominent use of the logo indicates.
The show originally aired October 8, 2010 and was rebroadcast on October 11th.

Poem by a girl in 12th grade that defines the Israeli cities Haifa, Jaffa, Acre, Ramle, Be’er Sheva and Tel Aviv as cities in “Palestine”:
“I am the spirit of Palestine
Seek and find me in the depths of the Dead Sea
You will find me in Haifa, in Jaffa, in Acre, on the rocks of Ramle (i.e., all Israeli cities)...
On the banks of the Lake of Tiberias (i.e., the Sea of Galilee, in Israel)
At the center of the Yabad plain (i.e., Jenin area)
At the top of Mount Hebron
At the center of the captive Negev (i.e., desert in Israel)
I quench my thirst from the authentic Be’er Sheva (i.e., Israeli city)
You will find me in Tal Al-Rabia (i.e., Arabic translation of the name of the Israeli city of Tel Aviv)…
I am Jerusalem
Seek and find me
In every place in Palestine
Because I am the heart of Palestine.”

Israeli Arab MP Dr. Jamal Zahalka, introduced at PLO rally commemorating 62nd anniversary as: "Our representative within the '48 territories":
"We want the women of Ramallah, who were harmed in the Nakba –greetings to them – to return, and I mean to Jaffa, to Haifa, to Lod, to Ramle and to all the cities of Palestine… I want you to know that you have family in Jaffa, that you have family in Lod, in Ramle, in Haifa, and in Acre. Those who keep the flame, those who have preserved the identity of the land. They are the remaining remnant, and living testimony that Jaffa is a Palestinian Arab [city], and that Lod and Ramle are Palestinian Arab [cities], and likewise concerning Haifa and Acre… We are facing a Zionist plan that divides our people… We oppose and do not submit to this division, and emphasize the unity of our Palestinian people: a single entity, a single nation, a single memory, a single fate, and a single future for a single nation – the nation of Palestine.”

PA Cleric: Israel's destruction is Islamic imperative
|
|
Source:
Palestinian TV (Fatah), Sept. 8, 2000

Yusuf Abu Snina, PA cleric:
"Muslim Palestine is one that cannot be divided. There is no difference between Haifa and Nablus, Lod and Ramallah, Jerusalem and Nazareth or Gaza and Ashkelon. The land of Palestine is Waqf (Islamic trust) that belongs to Muslims throughout the world, and no one has the right to give it up or to renounce it. Whoever does this is a traitor, and is nothing but a criminal whose end shall be in Hell." Click here to view |

Arafat's Deputy: Palestinian state first stage in replacing Israel
|
|
Source:
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Nov. 25, 1999
|
Othman Abu Arbiah, Arafat’s aide for Political Guidance and national affairs, and Director-General for National Affairs, a senior position in the Palestinian national educational structure:
“... At this stage we’ll prevail in our struggle [toward] the goals of the stages [plan]. The goal of this stage is the establishment of the independent Palestinian State, with its capital in Jerusalem. When we achieve this, it will be a positive [step] and it will advance us to the next stage via other ways and means... ‘Every Palestinian must know clearly and unequivocally that the independent Palestinian State, with Jerusalem as its capital is not the end of the road. The [rise of] the Palestinian State is a stage after which there will be another stage, and that is the democratic state in all of Palestine [i.e. in place of Israel].” |
