PA official: Palestinians will “wage intifada” because of US recognition of Jerusalem

PA Deputy District Governor of Jerusalem Abdallah Siyam on Palestine This Morning: "When there's harm to Jerusalem - Jerusalem wages intifada, as do the people of Jerusalem, the entire Palestinian people, and all of the free people in the world. This is a matter that we remember well with the outbreak of the [second] Intifada (i.e., PA terror campaign) in 2000, when [former Israeli PM Ariel] Sharon invaded the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza. We always remember when there was the Tunnel Uprising there (i.e., three days of fighting after Western Wall Tunnel opening; see note below), when the tunnel was opened. When Jerusalem is in a certain danger, you find there creativity in the struggle and unprecedented unity. This leads to victories and intifada in Jerusalem's favor. Today we are in this situation. We feel this sudden danger that surrounds Jerusalem following this oppressive and biased American decision [to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital]. The occupation authorities are hurrying to make a change of Israelization and Judaization in Jerusalem… [We] need an uprising in front of every US embassy and [to take] a stand that warns [them] that this disregard for the red lines and for Jerusalem is complete disregard for the stability of the region. America is completely exerting its military influence, and wants to draft a new map for the Arab world, with more splits and tears. Therefore, this is a renewed occupation of the region…
If there will be such a decision, the people of Jerusalem will not desert their city and their cause. They will carry out - as individuals and as institutions – the complete role that is demanded of them… The significance of these things is more daily suffering for the residents and institutions, and more challenges and confrontations. In other words: The whole region will become a region that is heating up, where confrontation and flare-ups will be the main highlights of the situation that will arise. And this will definitely not be only in the framework of Jerusalem or Palestine. Jerusalem is the first direction of prayer of the Muslims and the place of pilgrimage for the Christians of the world. Everyone is watching Jerusalem… and this is not just a matter of a political party or government, this is Jerusalem, [for] which on the tongue of every Arab, Muslim, and Christian there must be the question: What am I doing for Jerusalem? It needs all of us. Yes, what am I doing for Jerusalem? In this way there will be something that is likely to change the equation and affect the scales, so that matters will return to their previous state, as it should be, in which Jerusalem is the capital of the Palestinian people, and this occupation will pass.”

Break-in/Invasion/attack of Al-Aqsa Mosque - The PA and its leaders misrepresent all of the Temple Mount as an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore, they vilify any presence of Jews on the mount as an "invasion." It should be noted that Jews who visit the Temple Mount only enter some sections of the open areas, and do not enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock. Israeli police ban Jewish prayer at the Temple Mount because of threats of violence by Palestinians.

The Western Wall Tunnel Intifada - Three days of PA terror attacks on Israeli civilians and military in September 1996, to protest Israel's opening an excavated tunnel adjacent to the base of the Temple Mount. The tunnel is an underground continuation of what is exposed today of the Western Wall. The terror was led by Arafat's security services.

US recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel - On Dec. 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Trump added that the final borders of Jerusalem will be determined during negotiations. The US embassy was transferred from Tel Aviv and opened in Jerusalem on May 14, 2018, the anniversary of Israel's declaration of independence in 1948 according to the Gregorian calendar.
