Suicide terror & Shahada
Success of Shahada promotion
Parents celebrate children's death
Creating a supportive social environment for terrorists has been a critical factor in the Palestinian Authority's successful promotion of suicide terrorism. To this end, PA policy has been to honor terrorists as Shahids (Martyrs for Allah), and to teach Palestinian mothers to celebrate when their children die as terrorist Shahids. Categorizing these dead terrorists as Shahids grants them the highest honor a Muslim can achieve, and is therefore cause for a mother to celebrate, according to this PA teaching.
An example of that happiness and celebration can be seen in Um Nidal, mother of a suicide terrorist:

Um Nidal is filmed with her son, Muhammad, who is armed and ready to carry out a terror attack:
"By Allah, today is the best day of my life. I feel that our Lord is pleased with me, because I am offering something [my son] for Him. I wish to sacrifice more [sons] for Allah's forgiveness, and for the flag [of Islam], 'There is no god but Allah', to fly over Palestine.... It's true that there's nothing more precious than children, but for the sake of Allah – what is precious becomes cheap." Click to view video on website

Amin Abu Laila, the Martyr’s father... said: ‘All that we have is a sacrifice for the pure soul of Omar and Palestine. The Palestinians have never attributed importance to a home or its stones. Omar was loved by the family, and today he is loved by the Palestinian people, the Arab world, and everyone who believes in the justice of our cause and who strengthens our hands.’ …
Ghadir, the Martyr’s mother, said: …‘I honor every visitor who comes after the destruction of the home, and the occupation will not prevent me from welcoming the visitors and those blessing over my son’s death as a Martyr, and from sitting with them on the threshold of the home.’”

This is the third in a series of articles published on Feb. 13, and Feb. 15, 2016
“After the Friday prayer, Ahmad walked to the cemetery to look for the grave of his Martyr (Shahid) friend Ahmad [Awwad Abu Al-Rub], sat by the grave, recited the [Quranic Sura of] Al-Fatiha, and then left.
This is what happened every Friday since the boy Ahmad Awwad Abu Al-Rub died as a Martyr, after being shot by the occupation at the Al-Jalameh checkpoint, when Ahmad Abu Najah Abu Al-Rub’s heart was bound to his friend, and kept anything that reminded him of him [Ahmad Awwad].
Once, Ahmad returned home and asked one of his sisters if it was possible to grow flowers in special soil in order to lay them on his friend’s grave. The flowers were planted, but when they started to blossom, Ahmad was no longer there to take them to the Martyr’s grave, because he had already joined the Martyrs’ procession…
Since the outbreak of the events of the popular resistance at the beginning of last October [2015] (i.e., euphemism for wave of Palestinian terror attacks, September 2015-April 2016), most of Ahmad’s attention was dedicated to following news channels. Ahmad’s mother told Al-Hayat Al-Jadida that her son ‘became indignant at the events and attacks against the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] and the death of the young and the girls as Martyrs.’
Indeed the separation is hard, and death is hard, as mother of Martyr [Ahmad Najah Abu Al-Rub] told us, but she corrected [herself] and said: ‘Praise Allah, he wanted to die as a Martyr and has obtained Martyrdom (Shahada).’”

: “The occupation does not succeed in dampening the spirit of resistance in Qabatiya”

“Despite the ‘hard blow’ Israel gave Qabatiya by imposing a curfew on it for four days, [carrying out] arrests, demolishing homes, and revoking work permits, in what seems like an attempt to teach them a ‘lesson,’ it looks like it has failed to dampen the spirit of resistance in the town. This small town, which has 25,000 residents and is located on the hills in the north of the West Bank, is proud of a long history of struggle. Mayor Mahmoud Kmeil emphasized: ‘We have resisted all of the occupiers here,’ noting the British Mandate in Palestine, the Ottoman empire, and the Israeli occupation today. Today, he is organizing a visit of officials with the families of nine young people from Qabatiya who have died as Martyrs (Shahids) since October while attacking Israelis. The last attack was on Feb. 3 [2016], when three young people from important families in the town killed Israeli policewoman Hadar Cohen, 19, at the entrance to the Old City of Jerusalem.

Mother of terrorist conflicted over her son's death, but expressed relief and praises Allah when his "Martyrdom" is confirmed

“Um Ismail, Martyr (Shahid) Ahmad Najah Zakarneh’s mother, said that a few hours after he left the house, she and the other members of the family began to worry. They tried to call Ahmad’s cell phone, and he did not answer. Long moments passed, and then she found his cell phone in his room. He left the cell phone so that they would not prevent him from doing what he planned... The mother understood that Ahmad was in danger at that moment, but the definite news had not yet reached her, as the media had [only] reported that an operation (i.e., terror attack) took place near Damascus Gate in occupied Jerusalem, and that one or more Martyrs died in the operation. The uncertain news, the fact that a lot of time had passed without knowing what happened, the stream of news about the death of young people from the town… and his last text message – all of these caused Um Ismail to feel what she did not want to be true, not at that moment, and not later - Ahmad died as a Martyr! Indeed, the news of Ahmad’s death as a Martyr arrived. At the same moment the mother’s heart was relieved and she said: ‘Praise Allah.’ Everyone in the village rushed to the home of the Martyr’s family, and did not know whether to console [the family] over his death as a Martyr or express pride in his death in an operation of this type."

“When the mother learned of her son’s death as a Martyr, she let out cries of ‘joy over his death as a Martyr,’ and the family is still giving out candies and receiving guests, and emphasizing that their joy over Ihab’s death as a Martyr is greater than their joy over the wedding they all dreamed of for him. 48 hours had not passed since Ihab’s death as a Martyr when his cousin joined him... On the morning of Dec. 9, 2015, Abd Al-Rahman and his two sisters talked about Martyr Ihab, for whom consolers were still coming one after the other to his family’s home in order to ‘bless his death as a Martyr,’ and one of the things Abd Al-Rahman said was: ‘And I also hope to die as a Martyr.’ It did not take long, as the news arrived quickly and Abd’s siblings saw their brother in a report which stated that he [died as] a Martyr while carrying out a stabbing operation (i.e., terror attack) against [Israeli] soldiers in the area called Al-Dabbouya near the Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., the Cave of the Patriarchs) in the heart of Hebron, and Abd Al-Rahman’s father reiterated: ‘Praise Allah.’”

Q:
"Do you have any final words for our people carrying out intifada in Palestine?"
Al-Einein: "Blessings to all of our Martyrs, to the residents of Jerusalem who had the honor of igniting the first spark of this activity, to all those who followed in their footsteps in the rest of the homeland, and to the residents of the Hebron district, who have sown fear in all of this cancerous Israeli body (Many of the terrorists have come from the Hebron district -Ed.). We bow before every drop of blood that has dripped from our children and women, and bow the head before every Martyr and Martyr's mother, who carried her child in her belly and brought him up until he became a young man, and when they notified her of his death as a Martyr, she let cries of joy loose to the Heavens. Official PA TV news broadcast report on funeral of “Martyr” Ahmad Kawazbeh
Terrorist stabber Ahmad Kawazbeh’s father: “Ahmad was an excellent high school student. Two days before he died as a Martyr (Shahid), he said something to us that we did not understand. We said to him ‘You need to study so you will bring us a high [grade point] average, and we want a report card (Shahada - the same as the word for martyrdom) which will make us proud.’ He said ‘Father, I will bring you Shahada (Martyrdom) that will make you very proud.’ It never occurred to us that he meant this type of Shahada (i.e., Martyrdom and not report card). Praise Allah, this is a better Shahada than any report card, Shahada for Allah.”
Immediately after the father’s words, the PA TV host says that the “Martyr” wanted to fulfill his dream of excelling in the matriculation exams, however “the muzzle of the occupier’s rifle was greater than his dream.” She ignores the words of the father who moments before specifically noted his son’s death-wish.

Following the attack, he was shot and killed by Israeli police. Prior to his attack, in a post to his private Facebook page, the terrorist referred to recent terror attacks as part of a "third Intifada,” and said that it was a response to Israel’s actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and that the Palestinian people would not “succumb to humiliation.” This is a reference to the PA libel that Israel is plotting to take over and destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and to the PA's portrayal of Jews praying on the Temple Mount as "an invasion of the Al-Aqsa Mosque."

Mother eulogizes terrorist son who rammed car into 5 Israelis
Source: Donia Al-Watan (independent Palestinian news agency), Nov. 9, 2015
Headline: “Martyr Shahin – when blood flowed the strawberries had not yet ripened”
“All words are meaningless in the face of a mother speaking of the last moments of her Martyr (Shahid) son, especially this time, when the Martyr is the ‘King of the Strawberries!’ And especially in light of the fact that he exchanged the path of the Nablus market for the path of Martyrdom. Suleiman Shahin, 22, from El-Bireh, separated from his family and friends on his special path, and left in their hands first and foremost the responsibility for Palestine, ‘his daughter and his homeland!’
The Martyr’s mother did not stop crying during the interview with the Wattan news agency, and talked of the plans of her son Suleiman, the most beloved to her of her 9 children, 5 daughters and 4 sons, as he did not at all make light of her tears and moments of sorrow, and would not leave for work without her consent.
She says: ‘When Muhannad Halabi died as a Martyr (i.e., murderer of 2), he [Suleiman] asked me why the Martyrs’ mothers cry out in joy at their sons’ funerals. I could not find an answer for him, and afterwards he continued: ‘Will you cry out in joy when I die as a Martyr?’
Martyr Shahin’s mother emphasized that Suleiman often put the care for his daughter Palestine, who was not yet seven months old, in her hands, and always told her that he wanted her [Palestine] to be educated, upright, and religious… Like every groom on his wedding day (i.e., here this refers to day of “Martyrdom”), Martyr Suleiman insisted on shaving his hair, making peace with his friends, and asking after his sister. And the news of his death as a Martyr shocked his childhood friends, who heard the news through the media like everyone else."

Fatah Central Committee Member Jamal Muhaisen: “The popular insurgency will be a continuation of the popular resistance, which is the strategy chosen by the Palestinian leadership, and we have always hoped and worked to make it spread and include all the [social] strata of our people, and today we hope that it reaches the level of intifada...We must continue with the popular insurgency. We must support, escalate and expand it. I repeat: Although we mourn the death of every one of us, they are Martyrs (Shahids), and every people that has fought against an occupation has made sacrifices. Hence, as long as there is a resistance plan, I say: The mother of the Martyr will let out cries of joy. However, in case of daily, weekly, or monthly actions not directed by a strategy, one feels that we have sacrificed Martyrs in vain.”

The Zionists killed him. My brother is a hero. Israel, beware of thinking that my brother is a coward and a terrorist. My brother is a hero..."

Father of terrorist Dania Arshid: “Praise Allah who honored us and honored these good notable people in that [the bodies] came to us from the hands of the tyrannical murderers. Praise Allah, he will give us what we deserve. As long as we are all together and we are all one hand – we have not finished, because we have additional children who still must reach it.”
Father of terrorist Bayan Al-Esseili: “Praise Allah, Master of the universe. This is kindness from Allah. ‘And ever has the favor of Allah upon you been great’ [Quran, Surah 4:113, Sahih International translation]. Indeed, Almighty Allah honored us in that he gave us the bodies of our daughters for us to accompany them as brides (i.e., it is believed that female ‘Martyrs’ become one of the 72 Virgins to marry male Martyrs in Paradise) in a funeral that is fitting for them, to their final resting place.”…
Mother of terrorist Tareq Al-Natsheh: “This is pride for us – for Palestine. My son is a Martyr (Shahid), my son is a groom (i.e., Martyr's funeral is considered wedding to the 72 Virgins in Paradise in Islam) Allah willing. [He died as a Martyr] in order to defend the homeland, Jerusalem, and Gaza, all of the Martyrs and the daughters who died as Martyrs. Allah will have mercy on you and will be satisfied with you. Al-Quds TV host: “We are now at the home of Martyr (Shahid) Muhammad Shamasneh, who went to Heaven on the 12th of this month [Oct. 12, 2015], after the Israeli occupation accused him of taking a weapon and shooting inside a bus in the central bus station in occupied Jerusalem… I am now turning to Martyr Muhammad Shamasneh’s mother. Madam, first of all, Allah will have mercy on Muhammad’s soul. Did you know that Muhammad intended to carry out an operation (i.e., terrorist attack), and did you believe the version of the occupation, according to which Muhammad carried out an operation in Jerusalem?
Martyr Muhammad Shamasneh’s mother: “First of all, praise Allah that Muhammad died as a Martyr for the Al-Aqsa [Mosque], and I hope, Allah willing, that all my children will follow Muhammad’s path. Praise Allah, we [as a family] knew [of his intentions], but I did not know, and I am angry that he did not take me with him. He should have taken me so I could die as a Martyr together with him. We have no regrets, we are proud, praise Allah, and I give you sweets in honor of Muhammad’s death as a Martyr.”

She added during an exclusive interview with Wattan news agency, that he chose to die as a Martyr for the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and has obtained this [Martyrdom] after the occupation soldiers shot him last Saturday [Oct. 17, 2015] as he was walking down the Al-Shuhada Street, after he allegedly tried to carry out a stabbing operation (i.e., attack).

PA daily article criticizes parents celebrating their child`s Martyrdom, but still admires those who "confront the occupation"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 19, 2015
"There is an argument and debate that comes to the surface regarding what is called 'the rush to death for nothing,' in a way that negatively influences the contempt for life and blood in terms of the Palestinians in the confrontations with the occupation. The Israeli system tried to deny this, using ululations (i.e., sounds of joy) or smiles of Martyrs’ mothers in their daily parting from the convoys of Martyrs. But the truth is not like this, and the victim is murdered twice – once by the occupation, and the second time by the description of the Martyr's family as happy he is leaving, which is contrary to logic. …
Through ‘the Cactus Uprising’ or 'the Rage of Jerusalem,' the Palestinian has clearly demonstrated today that he is not afraid of the occupation when he confronts it with a slingshot or knife, and knows in advance what weapon the occupation prepares for him, and with what helmets it protects itself. However, the fear has left his heart, and he prefers to die in honor rather than live a life of daily humiliation at a checkpoint, while he watches how they defile the holy sites and allow the herds of settlers to trample them and do as they wish, under the protection and auspices of the [Israeli] army.
And the question remains, how is the Palestinian, who is full of humanity, sacrifice, and desire to remain [on his land], perceived so wrongly? Who is responsible for this coarse description, and why do we insist on hiding the Martyrs’ dreams and the pain of Martyrs’ families from our story, and insist on showing blood as cheap, or the desire to die for the land, as if the only possibility is that we will die or the land will be freed?"

Many Palestinian parents of Martyrs are shown on PA media outlets celebrating their children’s Martyrdom. However, this article shows that attitudes towards this type of celebration are mixed within Palestinian society.

Headline: “To be gentle with the families of the Martyrs”
“‘I instruct you not to exhaust my mother with questions meant to win over the sentiments of the spectators and nothing more.’ This is a quote from the ten commandments of Martyr Baha Alyan, which he publicized a year ago, through the media, in which he demands they behave gently toward his mother while trying to get her to talk about her feelings regarding his Martyrdom (Shahada)… The loss of someone dear who has died, whether naturally, as a Martyr, or in an accident, causes the same result – the eternal absence of someone dear from [the lives of] his relatives. This is most difficult, even though death is an established fact in this life... Let us allow the families of the Martyrs to cry when they need to, and we will hear the stories of those they lost with no interference and at the right time, without visiting them. Let us treat them gently, because what we are asking them to speak about is a person who has left and will never return, and this is a mental wound from which it takes time to heal. Let us be gentle with the Martyrs’ families, and give time to their wound.”

In the separation celebration I thought secretly in my heart to sneak in among the women in order to whisper in her ear out of mercy: ‘I ask you to cry, let me see your tears flowing freely, shout in pain, wail like all bereaved mothers, hit those who comfort you with a shaking hand.’ But I did not dare… I said to myself, a day will pass and she will begin to cry, but she contradicted me with her ululations and cries of joy while receiving students who have come to bless her...”

Hadith (i.e., sayings and practices attributed to Islam's Prophet Muhammad) transmitter Muhammad Bin Al-Hassan Al-Makhzoumi states: ‘Al-Khansa was present at the Al-Qadisiyya battle in the 16th year of the Hijra, 638 C.E., together with her four sons. She encouraged them to Jihad, accompanied them with the army during the period of Omar ibn Al-Khattab (i.e., a prominent 7th- century caliph), and advised them: ‘O my sons, you converted to Islam and emigrated by choice. In the name of Allah, besides whom there is no other god, you are the sons of one man, as you are the sons of one woman. I did not cheat on your father, and didn’t embarrass your uncle. I didn’t disgrace their honor, and didn’t alter their pedigree. You might know what the great reward is that Allah has prepared for Muslims in battle against infidels, and know that the eternal home is preferable to the temporary home. Allah says: ‘O believers, stand and resist bravely, stand guard, and fear Allah so you will do well.’ [Quran,] Sura AlAmiran, verse 200. If Allah wishes, you will rise tomorrow, healthy and whole; go fight your enemies with wisdom, and with Allah’s help you will prevail over them…’
When she learned that all of them had died as Martyrs she made her famous statement: ‘Praise Allah, who honored me with their Martyrdom-death. I ask my Lord to unite me with them in Paradise.’”

Mothers’ feelings when sons are martyred: “Palestine is one, the sons are many”‎

PA TV host:‎ "Let’s talk about an issue that has been a point of discussion for many ‎years, from the 1st and 2nd Intifada (i.e., Palestinian waves of violence against ‎Israelis): The world’s attitude towards the Palestinian woman, as a woman devoid of ‎maternal feelings who makes sounds of joy when her son dies as a Martyr, or when ‎she loses her husband, etc…‎"
Women’s rights activist Amal Al-A’araj: "The Palestinian woman who makes sounds ‎of joy for her Martyr son, was raised by a Palestinian woman greater than her in her ‎love for the homeland and [the belief]‎ ‎ that Palestine ‘is more precious than my ‎sons.’ Palestine is one, the sons are many. I can give birth to 10 or 12, and I know ‎people with 15, 16 and more, but Palestine is one. The land of Palestine is one...‎"
PA TV host:‎ "So this does not mean that her sons are not precious to her, and that she ‎is a mother devoid of emotion, right?‎"
Women’s rights activist: "Of course [not].‎"

Ramallah governor opposes mothers celebrating their sons' Martyrdom because the world "thinks we have no feelings"

Headline: "Ghannam to Al-Hayat Al-Jadida: 'It is no shame for a mother to cry for her Martyred son'"
Q: "Does a woman ululate out of joy for the death of one of her sons as a Martyr (Shahid), or for his imprisonment during all the years of the struggle?“
District Governor of Ramallah and El-Bireh Laila Ghannam: "I am against ululations (i.e., cries of joy), against restraining the emotions and against presenting ourselves as a nation of barbarians who don't care about loss and deprivation. In psychology, this is called denial, while we Palestinians have learned that it is pride. It is true that our culture talks of the Martyr's high standing and qualities, but when the world sees us carrying a Martyr and hears our ululations, it thinks we have no feelings - especially when it's a child; for when a child dies as a Martyr, the first image we publish is of him holding a weapon. The mother must express her feelings, and this is what I tell all the mothers I visit, for this is their right... “
Q: "If you had a son and a daughter, would you let them participate equally in the ‎various resistance activities, without fearing more for the girl than for the boy?"‎
Laila Ghannam: "Certainly, because I lived that life and my brothers are in jail. I am involved in organizational activity, and many have complained to my father that I get beaten and arrested for intervening in things that are none of my business, such as saving young people from the [Israeli] soldiers and participating in rallies. My father opposed sex discrimination, and said that this kind of intervention was characteristic of the family and that it was everyone's right."

“The Fatah movement, the movement’s institutions and Lebanese and Palestinian civil institutions in Lebanon organized a Palestinian-Lebanese heritage exhibit yesterday [March 19, 2014] to celebrate Mothers’ Day at the UNESCO Palace in Beirut…
Advisor for Cultural [Affairs] at the Palestinian Embassy in Lebanon Maher Meshaiel, who represented PA Ambassador [to Lebanon] Ashraf Dabbour at the exhibit opening, said: ‘The Palestinian mother has qualities that set her apart from [other mothers] in the world, for she is the soldier, the fighter and the one who resists, and the hope protecting Palestine’s olive trees. She who was uprooted from her land has turned the nights of despair in the diaspora and exile into days of flowing hope. She has pulled out her gun, parted from her son with a smile and received him as a Martyr (Shahid) with ululations, in order to prevent the enemy from feeling the intoxication of his victory.’
For his part, Mustafa Hamdan, President of the Leadership Council of the Independent Nasserite Movement, or Al-Murabitoun (i.e., a Lebanese political party,) saluted Palestinian mothers and expressed his appreciation of them, calling the Palestinian mother the mother of all the sons of the Arab homeland, and the one who had, since and before 1948, and up to this very day, whenever a commander, fighter or Jihadist was killed, borne 100 children in his place, to become Martyrs for the homeland.”

Mother of suicide bomber says she's proud, hopes more girls will follow in her daughter's footsteps
Source: Fatah's Facebook page, Jan. 27, 2013
Picture posted on Fatah's Facebook page with the following description:
"This is Wafa Idris, 23 years old, who left her family, her mother and her brothers, and said to them that day: 'The situation is grave. One might die as a Martyr (Shahid) at any moment.'
Wafa was late in returning, and night fell. Her family began to look for her, and asked some of her girlfriends who said that she had said goodbye to them, and that she had asked them to pray, saying: 'I will do a deed that will make you proud,' but she did not explain what that deed would be...
Wafa's mother said that when she heard on the media that it could have been a woman who carried out the Martyrdom-seeking operation in Jerusalem and [Wafa] hadn't come back, she thought that this could be the only explanation for her being missing. She added that she is a hero, and said, 'My daughter is a Martyr (Shahida).’ ...
At least 2,000 Palestinians participated in the symbolic funeral of the first female Martyrdom-seeker who blew herself up in Israel... The coffin was draped in the Palestinian flag and posters of Wafa Idris were put on the walls of the streets in the refugee camp. Participants called 'Wafa is a hero' while armed men fired in the air to salute Wafa.
Wafa's mother said that she is proud of her daughter, and hopes that more girls will follow in her footsteps. Wafa - the beautiful flower who, through her Martyrdom-seeking operation, turned upside down Israeli security considerations that had focused on observing young Palestinian men only."

Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Feb. 26, 2006
Sheikh Yusuf Jum’ah Salameh, PA Minister of Waqf (Islamic Trust), in the presence of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, honors woman who celebrated the death of her four sons, as "a great woman":
“Al-Khansa, this noble woman… The day she lost her brother Sakhr [before she adopted Islam] she began crying and shouting in anguish... [But] when Allah filled her heart to accept Islam, and faith filled her heart, things changed. She sent her four sons, her flesh and blood, into battle, to Qadisiyah [near Iraq] as a service to this religion. When she heard that they had attained Shahadah (Martyrdom for Allah), she said, ‘Praise Allah, who honored me with their deaths. I pray to Allah that I will join them in Paradise...’
This is the great woman. This is the noble woman. See how Islam changed her behavior and her poetry?”

Note: Al-Khansa - an Arab woman and poet from the earliest period of Islam (7th century) famous and honored in Islamic tradition for sending her four sons to battle and rejoiced when they all died as Martyrs. She has been lauded by the PA and often presented as a role model for mothers.

It's true that there's nothing more precious than children, but for the sake of Allah – what is precious becomes cheap."... Click here to view

Mother of Shahid interviewed on PATV:
PATV host: "A mother of a Shahid (Martyr) parts from her son with sounds of joy – not because she doesn't love him. Did you make sounds of joy?"
Mother: "Yes, I did. A mother makes sounds of joy because she wants him to reach Shahada (Martyrdom). [My son] became a Shahid for Allah. I wanted the best for him; this is the best for my son. When he was martyred, [honor] was not only for him, but also for us, pride and honor for us. People started saying, 'This is a Shahid's brother', 'This is a Shahid's mother', 'This is a Shahid's sister'. The honor was for the whole family, not just for [my son]." Click here to view

Sermon on PA TV glorifies Palestinian mothers for making ululations over their children's Martyrdom
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, June 13, 2003
Official PA TV, broadcast of Friday sermon by PA Ministry of Religious Affairs official Sheikh Ibrahim Mudayris
PA Ministry of Religious Affairs official Sheikh Ibrahim Mudayris:
“This faith is what made Al-Khansa (an Arab female poet who converted to Islam in the early period of the religion and rejoiced over the “Martyrdom” of her four sons –Ed.) into a mountain, similar to all the men of the Ummah (i.e., Islamic nation); Al-Khansa... in the firm religion (i.e., after she converted to Islam) she presented her four sons (i.e., in battle for Islam)... And they went to the battle, and the news of their deaths as Martyrs (Shahids) reached Al-Khansa and she said…: ‘Praise to Allah who honored me by their killing,’ and ‘Ask of Almighty Allah that He gather me to them at the fixed place of His mercy.’
This is the Islamic faith. Through the faith the Palestinian people succeeded in fighting this oppressive military machine (i.e., Israel) for over 50 years, and we are holding on and standing firm, because Jerusalem is part of our faith, because the love of Palestine is a large part of our faith. We will give to it, and we will sacrifice, and we will give our souls, our sons, our lives, and our homes for this part of our faith… the women of Palestine have succeeded in worrying the enemies when news of the death as a Martyr of the mother’s child arrives, and she makes ululations (i.e., sounds of joy) and says ‘Praise to Allah,’ and holds on. Thanks to this faith we will succeed in holding on and winning, with the help of Almighty Allah.

Take revenge on our enemies

Take the Jews and their helpers.
Take the US and its allies.”
