Parents of terrorist: "My son is an offering to the Al-Aqsa [Mosque], congratulations to him on the Martyrdom-death… My son is a groom"

“Residents of the village of Yatta accompanied the Martyr (Shahid) Amjad Hatem Al-Jundi on his last journey.
The Martyr’s father said: ‘My son left for work in the 1948 territories (i.e., Israel). He said goodbye to me and his mother, like always, and asked us to be pleased with him. Later in the day, residents of Yatta began to come to our home, and I had no idea that there is a Martyr. Later I learned from the neighbors that my son died as a Martyr.’
The father, who parted with his son today, said: ‘It is not a loss when you are talking about Palestine or the homeland. My son is an offering to the Al-Aqsa [Mosque], congratulations to him on the Martyrdom-death (Shahada).’ Amjad’s mother sat among the women who came to the Martyr’s home in order to see him one last time, making cries of joy and blessing herself: ‘My son is a groom, congratulations.’”

Muhannad Halabi killed 2 Israelis, Rabbi Nehemiah Lavi and Aharon Bennett, and injured Bennett’s wife, Adele, and their 2-year-old son in a stabbing attack in the Old City of Jerusalem on Oct. 3, 2015. Following the attack, he was shot and killed by Israeli security forces. Prior to his attack, in a post to his private Facebook page, the terrorist referred to recent terror attacks as part of a "third Intifada,” and said that it was a response to Israel’s actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and that the Palestinian people would not “succumb to humiliation.” This is a reference to the PA libel that Israel is plotting to take over and destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and to the PA's portrayal of Jews praying on the Temple Mount as "an invasion of the Al-Aqsa Mosque."

“President Mahmoud Abbas yesterday [Aug. 13, 2015] received at the president’s residence in Ramallah the petition of the family of Martyr (Shahid) Laith Fadl Al-Khaledi, 17 years old, who died as a Martyr from gunfire of the occupation army next to the Atarot checkpoint, north of Ramallah. The president emphasized that he appointed the Foreign Minister to prepare the case of the Martyrdom-death of Laith in order to submit it to the international criminal court, so that the murderers will be punished.  In turn, the Martyr’s father explained that his son Laith sacrificed his life as a Martyr for Palestine and its land, following in the footsteps of the Martyrs. Al-Khaledi expressed his appreciation for the president’s interest in the issue of the Martyrdom-death of his son from the first moment, and his standing with his family in this tragedy.”

PA daily article praises Al-Khansa - 12th century mother who celebrated her son’s Martyrdom
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 7, 2015
From the daily religious supplement during Ramadan
Headline
: “Tumadir Bint Amr [Al-Khansa] – the intergenerational poetess”
“When Al-Khansa joined Islam in the eighth year of the Hijra (i.e., the journey of Muhammad and his followers from Mecca to Medina in 622 C.E.), 630 C.E., when she was in her sixties, her sons and cousins accompanied her to the Messenger [Muhammad] to announce that they had joined the new religion [Islam]. Hadith (i.e., sayings and practices attributed to Islam's Prophet Muhammad) transmitter Muhammad Bin Al-Hassan Al-Makhzoumi states: ‘Al-Khansa was present at the Al-Qadisiyya battle in the 16th year of the Hijra, 638 C.E., together with her four sons. She encouraged them to Jihad, accompanied them with the army during the period of Omar ibn Al-Khattab (i.e., a prominent 7th- century caliph), and advised them: ‘O my sons, you converted to Islam and emigrated by choice. In the name of Allah, besides whom there is no other god, you are the sons of one man, as you are the sons of one woman. I did not cheat on your father, and didn’t embarrass your uncle. I didn’t disgrace their honor, and didn’t alter their pedigree. You might know what the great reward is that Allah has prepared for Muslims in battle against infidels, and know that the eternal home is preferable to the temporary home. Allah says: ‘O believers, stand and resist bravely, stand guard, and fear Allah so you will do well.’ [Quran,] Sura AlAmiran, verse 200. If Allah wishes, you will rise tomorrow, healthy and whole; go fight your enemies with wisdom, and with Allah’s help you will prevail over them…’
When she learned that all of them had died as Martyrs she made her famous statement: ‘Praise Allah, who honored me with their Martyrdom-death. I ask my Lord to unite me with them in Paradise.’”

Mothers’ feelings when sons are martyred: “Palestine is one, the sons are many”‎
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, May 16, 2015

PA TV host:‎ "Let’s talk about an issue that has been a point of discussion for many ‎years, from the 1st and 2nd Intifada (i.e., Palestinian waves of violence against ‎Israelis): The world’s attitude towards the Palestinian woman, as a woman devoid of ‎maternal feelings who makes sounds of joy when her son dies as a Martyr, or when ‎she loses her husband, etc…‎"
Women’s rights activist Amal Al-A’araj: "The Palestinian woman who makes sounds ‎of joy for her Martyr son, was raised by a Palestinian woman greater than her in her ‎love for the homeland and [the belief]‎ ‎ that Palestine ‘is more precious than my ‎sons.’ Palestine is one, the sons are many. I can give birth to 10 or 12, and I know ‎people with 15, 16 and more, but Palestine is one. The land of Palestine is one...‎"
PA TV host:‎ "So this does not mean that her sons are not precious to her, and that she ‎is a mother devoid of emotion, right?‎"
Women’s rights activist: "Of course [not].‎"
PA TV host: "There is a great message.‎"
Women’s rights activist: "We can all see that she cries first, and then makes sounds of ‎joy. She has feelings. She makes sounds of joy because she accompanied her Martyr ‎son who upheld the cause and defended his land. She witnessed the result of the ‎values she instilled in her son. Nevertheless she makes sounds of joy while crying.‎"

Mother of Martyr: We ululate since “our child is going... to marry the Dark-Eyed Virgins”

A Martyr’s mother: "We say ‘praise Allah’ for everything. It's our duty to give ourselves and our children [for [N2] the cause]. Praise Allah, it's true that this hurts and that we feel agony and pain. Today, every day and every moment, I miss my son. I'll never forget my son. It's true what they say that we ululate (i.e., make sounds of joy) for our [dead] children because our child is going to Heaven to marry the Dark-Eyed Virgins, Allah willing. May Allah make a dwelling for him in the highest Paradise. It’s not that we don't love our children. We do love our children, but also our homeland. We say ‘Allah willing’ and maintain our resolve..."

Ramallah governor opposes mothers celebrating their sons' Martyrdom because the world "thinks we have no feelings"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Mar. 21, 2015
Headline: "Ghannam to Al-Hayat Al-Jadida: 'It is no shame for a mother to cry for her Martyred son'"
Q: "Does a woman ululate out of joy for the death of one of her sons as a Martyr (Shahid), or for his imprisonment during all the years of the struggle?“
District Governor of Ramallah and El-Bireh Laila Ghannam: "I am against ululations (i.e., cries of joy), against restraining the emotions and against presenting ourselves as a nation of barbarians who don't care about loss and deprivation. In psychology, this is called denial, while we Palestinians have learned that it is pride. It is true that our culture talks of the Martyr's high standing and qualities, but when the world sees us carrying a Martyr and hears our ululations, it thinks we have no feelings - especially when it's a child; for when a child dies as a Martyr, the first image we publish is of him holding a weapon. The mother must express her feelings, and this is what I tell all the mothers I visit, for this is their right... “
Q: "If you had a son and a daughter, would you let them participate equally in the ‎various resistance activities, without fearing more for the girl than for the boy?"‎
Laila Ghannam: "Certainly, because I lived that life and my brothers are in jail. I am involved in organizational activity, and many have complained to my father that I get beaten and arrested for intervening in things that are none of my business, such as saving young people from the [Israeli] soldiers and participating in rallies. My father opposed sex discrimination, and said that this kind of intervention was characteristic of the family and that it was everyone's right."

Advisor for Cultural [Affairs] at the Palestinian Embassy in Lebanon Maher Meshaiel, who represented PA Ambassador [to Lebanon] Ashraf Dabbour at the exhibit opening, said: ‘The Palestinian mother has qualities that set her apart from [other mothers] in the world, for she is the soldier, the fighter and the one who resists, and the hope protecting Palestine’s olive trees. She who was uprooted from her land has turned the nights of despair in the diaspora and exile into days of flowing hope. For his part, Mustafa Hamdan, President of the Leadership Council of the Independent Nasserite Movement, or Al-Murabitoun (i.e., a Lebanese political party,) saluted Palestinian mothers and expressed his appreciation of them, calling the Palestinian mother the mother of all the sons of the Arab homeland, and the one who had, since and before 1948, and up to this very day, whenever a commander, fighter or Jihadist was killed, borne 100 children in his place, to become Martyrs for the homeland.”
