[Interviewer:] What about the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the threats it is experiencing?"
[Ida’is:] 'Jerusalem needs a lot and is in danger, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque is in danger. I attest before you that every Palestinian will forego his right to life in order to protect the holy sites and the honor of the Arab and Islamic nation. I believe that Israel is deluding itself if it plans to take over the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and it will not succeed in doing so. This has already happened in the past, when it decided to harm us, and the intifadas (Palestinian wave of violence and terror against Israel, 1987-1993, and PA terror campaign 2000-2005 –Ed.) arose in order to protect the [Al-Aqsa] Mosque, and it sacrificed Martyrs (Shahids)…
[Interviewer:] 'What about your visit to Egypt, and what did you conclude with the religious authorities?'
[Ida’is:] 'I visited some of the religious authorities in Al-Azhar, Dar Alaftaa, (i.e., the central authority for Fatwahs), and the seat of the head of the Sharifs (i.e., descendants of the Prophet Muhammad), and they all agreed unanimously that there will be practical, real, serious actions in the field in order to aid Jerusalem and its residents in their resolve and their resistance to the occupation, and in preventing the evil plot to Judaize the holy city and establish the alleged Temple in place of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.'”
