PA cleric promotes libel that a Jew set fire to Al-Aqsa Mosque in 1969 and warns that Israel plans to destroy it
Headline: "Ida'is calls for the convening of an Arab-Islamic summit to address the Israeli plans against [the] Al-Aqsa [Mosque], and the Ministry of Information calls to maintain the Arabness of Jerusalem"
"President of the Supreme Islamic Court and Chairman of the Supreme Council of Islamic Law, Sheikh Yusuf Ida'is, published a press release with the 43rd anniversary of the arson in the Al-Aqsa Mosque [in 1969] as its subject… Ida'is stressed that the Al-Aqsa Mosque, with all its plazas, domes, walls, gates, open areas and foundations, belongs only and solely to all Muslims throughout the world, and that Jews have no right to it. He added that this painful anniversary comes in the shadow of an unprecedented attack by the Israeli occupation authorities, aimed at creating biblical parks in the plazas of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in preparation for its division that in turn will be followed by its [the mosque’s] destruction and the building of the alleged Temple in its stead."
Note: The fire in the Al-Aqsa Mosque in 1969 was started by a deranged Australian Christian, but the Palestinian Authority for years has attributed it to Israel.
