PA District Governor at rally honoring arch terrorist: Honoring “Martyrs” is “an honoring of a way of leadership”, “Abu Jihad advocated… that Jihad against the occupation was a moral obligation”

“Fatah’s Shabiba student movement at the Islamic Preaching College in Qalqilya held a rally in honor of the 22nd anniversary of the Martyrdom (Istishhad) of the Emir of Martyrs (Shahids) Khalil Al-Wazir (Abu Jihad), and [Palestinian] Prisoner’s Day on the college’s campus, under the title ‘Hope Despite the Pain...’
In his speech, [then District Governor of Qalqilya and current District Governor of Tubas Rabih] Al-Khandaqji said: ‘Our nation has adopted a tradition of honoring Martyrs. This is not an honoring of people in the material sense, but rather an honoring of a way of leadership. Martyr Abu Jihad (Khalil Al-Wazir)… was convinced that that there was no other option than to resist the occupation and to refuse to surrender to the state of [being] refugees and to the effacement of Palestinian identity.’
He emphasized that commander Abu Jihad (Khalil Al-Wazir) advocated solely that Jihad against the occupation was a moral obligation, and that the eradication of [Palestinian] national identity must not be ignored in silence… He noted his virtues as an extraordinary commander who was active in all areas and engraved, through his struggle, our cause in the chronicles [of history].
The dean of the Islamic preaching College, Dr, Saed Rustam, noted the virtues of Martyr Khalil Al-Wazir (Abu Jihad), Lord of Martyrs Yasser Arafat’s partner on the path. He explained that Martyr Abu Jihad (Khalil Al-Wazir) represented one school of self-sacrifice and struggle, and said: ‘We are walking his path, and he inscribed the name of Palestine high, so that the free self-sacrificing fighters (Fedayeen) might pass over his pure body to reach the longed-for freedom, the souls of the Martyrs might continue to protect the Palestinian dream, and his memory might continue to serve as a beacon for the free Martyrs (Shahids).’”
Abu Jihad (Khalil Al-Wazir) was a founder of Fatah and deputy to Yasser Arafat. He headed the PLO terror organization's military wing and planned many deadly Fatah terror attacks killing 125 Israelis. This included the most lethal in Israeli history, the hijacking of a bus and killing of 37 civilians, 12 of them children.
