Abbas advisor denies existance of Jewish Temple in Jerusalem, calls US ambassador to Israel an "imbecile," and calls all of Jerusalem an "Islamic waqf" until Judgement Day

Supreme Shari’ah Judge, Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice Mahmoud Al-Habbash: "Supreme Allah, who is omnipotent, can sink all of the infidels and all of the enemies of Islam into the ground and put an end to their existence… Why does Allah leave these infidels and enemies alone, and why does He allow the infidels to overpower the Muslim believers in some cases – it has happened, it happened with the prophets, it happened with Prophet Muhammad, may Allah's blessing be upon him – [the pagans] overpowered the Muslims in the Battle of Uhud [in 624 CE] and killed 70 of them. How, and what is the lesson from this? Supreme Allah answered this… if Allah so wished, He would have caused you to vanquish the infidels in every round. And if he wanted, he would have erased the infidels from before you, and would have brought down upon them thunder from the skies. However, [it is] in order to try you through this – this is a trial. Allah is testing you through these infidels and enemies, so He will see, and so you will see: Are you worthy of victory, or unworthy of victory. You are worthy of victory if you believe. But that alone isn’t enough. You must be a believer, be aware, clever, skilled in confrontation, capable of managing conflict, and capable of obtaining the means that lead to victory so that victory will come to you. Allah says: 'And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war by which you may terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy’ [Quran, Sura 8:60, Sahih International translation]… You must be prepared in terms of belief, action, strength, and 'steeds of war,' in other words physical strength and spiritual strength, so that you will be prepared for victory…
Among these trials, as you walk in the way of Allah, and in your Jihad for Allah, and in your Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) at Allah's borders, you will deal with suffering, harm, oppression, evil, and aggression from the attackers, so that you will stand firmly and patiently, and so that you will be worthy of the reward given by Allah to those who endure…
We are the Palestinian people, perhaps the people that has experienced the most hardships and trials. We were tested with colonialism, tested with occupation, with aggression… Perhaps you saw and felt a new type of aggression and humiliation this week, not only against the Palestinian people’s rights, but against the Islamic nation’s honor. The so-called American Ambassador [David Friedman] in the so-called Israel, in Israel - you saw him and the world saw him standing ostentatiously and arrogantly, in a nauseating way, before a picture of Jerusalem, of the area of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. A picture that expresses the sick dreams of the colonialists, the occupiers - which expresses myths that never existed, a picture of Jerusalem in which the Al-Aqsa Mosque (sic., the Dome of the Rock) has been removed, and something symbolizing that which is called ‘the Temple' has replaced it (Friedman has clarified that he was unaware of the image in the picture thrust in front of him, and has called it unacceptable; see note below –Ed.). Of course, if we want to judge this matter from a religious and historical perspective, it has no value, not from a religious or historical perspective. And by the way, even the Torah, the existing Torah, the Torah that has what it has in it, which was only written 600 years after the death of our lord Moses, peace be upon him, even this Torah – and we challenge: There is not even one expression in it, one word that mentions that this Temple, which is alleged, was in Jerusalem or was built in Jerusalem. There is nothing at all, not one word! But let them believe what they want, we do not judge people on their belief, the one who does this is Allah. However we also have our belief and religion, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque is part of this belief.

We say clearly and unequivocally: All of Jerusalem, with all of its elements, especially with the Al-Aqsa Mosque, with all of its elements, with every millimeter of it, including the Al-Buraq Wall (i.e., the Western Wall of the Temple Mount), which they claim is part of that which is called ‘the Temple' – this is the Al-Buraq Wall – all of this is an Islamic waqf (i.e., an inalienable religious endowment in Islamic law) of this nation, until the time [of the Day of Judgment] comes. And it cannot be that it will be allowed or that we will agree- It might be that those who are not Muslims will succeed in taking over Jerusalem against our will – OK, this has already happened in history; it happened in the days of the Romans; it happened in the days of the Crusaders – but against the will of the nation. However, willingly and by agreement of the nation – whoever agrees that control of a millimeter of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, with all of its elements, be given to those who are not Muslims or Palestinians – such a person has not been born and will never be born. And whoever agrees violates Allah's book and the Sunna (i.e., Islamic tradition) of his Prophet, may Allah's blessing be upon him, and the general consensus of the Muslims… The Quran gave Jerusalem its identity from the heights of the seventh Heaven, and nobody has the authority to change this identity, and nobody has the authority to agree that one millimeter will be uprooted from Jerusalem to outside the borders of the Palestinian state and be under the patronage of those who are not Palestinians. Never. These are things that are not up for re-examination, and not up for discussion, and whoever says the opposite of this is not a Palestinian, not an Arab, and not a Muslim. All of the Al-Aqsa Mosque must be under Palestinian Islamic Arab sovereignty, and also the Al-Buraq Wall and the Al-Buraq Plaza. And we have nothing to say other than this."
US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman was photographed on May 22, 2018, being presented with a doctored aerial photograph of Jerusalem in which the Third Temple is seen in place of the Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount. The US embassy later said Friedman "was not aware of the image thrust in front of him when the photo was taken. He was deeply disappointed that anyone would take advantage of his visit to Bnei Brak to create controversy. The US policy is absolutely clear: we support the status quo on the Haram al-Sharif/Temple Mount.” Friedman told the Israeli program Hadashot TV on May 23, 2018: “I was more mortified… than any Palestinian when I saw a picture of myself standing next to that poster. Someone just shoved it in my face and took a picture. Of course that’s unacceptable to me, and the United States respects the status quo on the Haram al-Sharif. That’s really an unfortunate thing, and I felt terrible that people might have reacted to that the way they did.”
The Al-Buraq Wall - Islam's Prophet Muhammad is said to have rode during his Night Journey from Mecca to "al aqsa mosque", i.e., "the farthest mosque" (Quran, Sura 17), and there tied his miraculous flying steed named Al-Buraq to a "stone" or a "rock." (Jami` at-Tirmidhi, Book 47, Hadith 3424). In the 1920's, Arab Mufti Haj Amin Al-Husseini decided to identify the Western Wall of the Temple in Jerusalem as that "rock" or "stone," and since then Muslims refer to the Western Wall as the "Al-Buraq Wall."
