Op-ed in official PA daily: Hamas is carrying out a “legitimate struggle,” failed US sponsored resolution declaring Hamas a terror organization heralds Trump’s disgrace and Netanyahu’s fall

"And thus the day of the vote at the UN General Assembly on the American proposed resolution, which is 100% in Israel's favor, arrived.
The Palestinian leadership invested a supreme effort through Palestinian diplomacy and through its international connections in order to thwart the proposed resolution – which means thwarting American President Donald Trump and his diplomacy that is losing its grip – this proposal, which sought to accuse Hamas of terror over a legitimate struggle it is carrying out, and which is the right of every people that is under occupation according to international law and the international bodies (sic., apparently refers to Palestinian claim that UN Resolution 3236 legitimizes violence; see note below). The US suffered this failure for Israel and Trump suffered this slap on behalf of [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu, and the failure of the American resolution opened an especially wide door, whose title is that every failure of Netanyahu is Trump's failure, and every disgrace of Trump is a warning about the fall of Netanyahu."
UN Resolution condemning Hamas - The US proposed a resolution to condemn the terror organization Hamas for firing rockets into Israel and inciting violence, and demanding that it and other terrorist groups such as Islamic Jihad cease their terror activities, including the use of airborne incendiaries. The proposal was voted on by the UN General Assembly on Dec. 6, 2018. Although it received a majority of the votes, the proposal did not receive the two thirds needed to be ratified.
UN Resolution 3236 - PA leaders and officials have legitimized Palestinian violence by quoting UN resolution 3236 which "recognizes the right of the Palestinian people to regain its rights by all means." The PA interprets "all means" as including violence against civilians, but has chosen to ignore the continuation of the resolution which states that the use of "all means" should be "in accordance with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations..." The UN Charter prohibits targeting civilians, even in war. Chapter 1, Article 1, opens by saying that "international disputes" should be resolved "by peaceful means."
