Demonization of Jews/Israelis
Animalization and dehumanization
Demonization of Jews/Israelis
Since the Palestinian Authority was established it has systematically indoctrinated young and old to hate Israelis and Jews. Using media, education, and cultural structures that it controls, the PA has actively promoted religious hatred, demonization, conspiracy libels, etc. These are packaged to present Israelis and Jews as endangering Palestinians, Arabs, and all humanity. This ongoing campaign has so successfully instilled hatred that fighting, murder and even suicide terror against Israelis and Jews are seen by the majority of Palestinians as justified self-defense and as Allah’s will. The PA presents Jews as possessing inherently evil traits. Jews are said to be treacherous, corrupt, deceitful and unfaithful by nature. These Jewish “attributes” and traditions are presented as the unchangeable nature of Jews. Forgeries and fiction masquerading as history are used to document and support the libel that Judaism is in essence racist and evil. Jews are said to be planning and executing heinous crimes, including burning Palestinians in ovens, murder, using prisoners for Nazi-like experiments, and more. If unchecked, these crimes constitute a mortal danger, not only to all Muslims and Arabs but to all of humanity.

The PA assigns responsibility to the Jews for all the problems in the world: Wars, conflicts and civil wars are all said to be triggered by Jews. Indeed, the oppression suffered by Jews throughout history is presented as the legitimate response of nations seeking revenge for the injury caused them by the Jews living among them. The creation of the State of Israel is said to have been a European plot, in order to be rid of their Jews and save Europe from the evil of Jewish presence in their countries.

The following are examples of Palestinian demonization:
Animalization and dehumanization
Palestinian Authority leaders and media repeatedly use animal images to depict Jews. This animalization and dehumanization play a role in preparing PA society to be willing to kill Jews.

The following are examples of PA depictions of Jews as animals and subhumans.
Israel depicted as snake in PA daily caricature
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 24, 2014

A caricature in the PA daily newspaper depicts an Israeli fighter pilot as a snake that has been given the green light by the US. This cartoon was published as Hamas was firing thousands of rockets at Israel and as Israel was responding with Operation Protective Edge, which aimed at destroying Hamas' terror infrastructure and ability to launch rockets at Israel.

Official PA daily: We are "the first line of defense in the battle of ‎humanity against the dogs‎"
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 14, 2014
Op-ed by Adli Sadeq, PLO Ambassador to ‎India and regular columnist for the official ‎PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida
‎“The war Israel is waging against Gaza, ‎through a massive intensification of fire, ‎and against the West Bank, through ‎sporadic firing, attacks and suffocation ‎measures, have brought the confrontation ‎between it [Israel] and our entire people to ‎a point from which it is hard to return, ‎since the Palestinians – and not just ‎Hamas – have nothing left but their lives ‎and honor, and are ready to fight using ‎the fire at their disposal to prevent [Israeli ‎PM] Netanyahu from ending this war with ‎two disgraceful achievements. [The first of ‎these would be] breaking our bones in ‎terms of resistance and in the political ‎arena, and putting us into a coma… and ‎the second – making us incapable of ‎defending ourselves in war…‎
The resistance will persist until this ‎stubborn enemy retreats and finds a path ‎into the bosom of humanity. We are ‎protecting all humans, and are on the first ‎line of defense in the battle of humanity ‎against the dogs. The most decent, ‎necessary and correct thing would have ‎been, and still would be, for the world to ‎side with the humans against the mad ‎dogs!”‎
Muslim cleric to Netanyahu: “We will give the skulls of your midgets as gifts for our children's feet to play with at the Gaza World Cup!”

Representative of the Association of Muslim Scholars in Lebanon, Sheikh Khalid 'Arifi:
"[Hamas] field commander Abu Ubaidah said yesterday when he appeared on the satellite channels, that people amuse themselves enjoying the World Cup, while the midget Netanyahu threatened us and said: 'Let's see if you dare show your faces above ground!' Allah willing, we will give the skulls of your midgets as gifts for our children's feet to play with at the Gaza World Cup."

Fatah threatens "settler herds": "Our response will be...an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth."

The text on the right is a "message from the United National-Islamic Leadership in Jerusalem." (This is the first proclamation published by this body, and it is unclear whether such a leadership even exists -Ed.)
The message condemns the "Nazi" operation of the kidnapping and murder of the youth Muhammad Abu Khdeir.
The third paragraph of the proclamation threatens: "We warn the settler herds and the occupation state not to continue in their transgressions, and [we warn them that] our response will be severe - an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth."
Mahmoud Al-Aloul posted this with the hashtags "Third Intifada" and "Palestine revolts."

Note: On June 12, 2014, three Israeli teens were kidnapped while hitchhiking in the West Bank. The boys' bodies were found by Israeli security forces near Hebron on June 30, 2014. They appeared to have been shot to death soon after the abduction. Two days later, a Palestinian teen was kidnapped and murdered in Jerusalem in what may have been a revenge attack, although this has yet to be confirmed. Following this murder, Palestinians took to the streets of eastern Jerusalem in violent protests.
Official PA daily: Israel is "barbaric," "a product of myth, racism and war;" Israeli soldiers are "killers and savages"
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, June 23, 2014
Op-ed by Fathi Al-Bis, columnist for the official PA daily
"The abhorrent sectarianism (i.e., wars in Iraq and Syria) is burning everything...
Israel - a product of myth, racism and war - believes that the conflagration in the region gives it a free hand and respite, and that the flames won't reach it. It therefore continues to kill, burn, destroy and attack, in all the forms inappropriate to human beings. Its leaders forget that these flames are burning because of it, and will be directed towards it in the end.
Israel's racist and extremist leadership has not learned its lesson. For over 60 years now, it has been killing, causing [people] to flee, expelling, taking prisoners, winning wars and annexing lands. But in reality, it is in crisis, because it has not succeeded in extinguishing the flames in the soul of the Palestinian...
The Israeli lives in the helmets of the soldiers of myth, who are killers and savages...
With the excuse of the disappearance of three settlers (i.e., On June 12, 2014, three Israeli teens were kidnapped while hitchhiking in the West Bank) who were on a land which did not belong to them, while robbing and challenging the owners of the land, Israel does as it pleases in the West Bank, and threatens Gaza... The Palestinian, with [his] Arab loyalty and identity which knows no sectarianism, confronts Israel. He observes with sadness the flames that surround him and that divert the people of the Arab nation from the duty of the basic and central confrontation, which is with the barbaric Israel. He looks forward to the day when the flames of [this] abhorrent sectarianism will be extinguished, so that everyone will be free to bury the [Israeli] myth that is being lived by the bloodthirsty, helmet-clad and rifle-bearing soldier."

PA accuses PM Netanyahu of incitement for comparing Palestinian cartoon with visually similar Nazi cartoon
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 25, 2014
‎“Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin ‎Netanyahu protested on his website (sic. – ‎should be: Facebook page) the materials ‎being published on the official Facebook ‎page of the Palestinian National Security ‎Forces on the issue of the right of return. ‎The Israeli Prime Minister’s website used ‎these materials to claim that 93% of our ‎people are Antisemitic! ‎
The Israeli Prime Minister’s website ‎published a cartoon that had appeared on ‎the Facebook page of the Palestinian ‎National Security Forces, which expresses ‎that Israel is preventing [the realization of] ‎the right of return and the implementation ‎of the decisions of the international ‎institutions regarding the Palestinian ‎refugees, and compared it to a cartoon ‎attacking Jews that had been published in ‎a Nazi newspaper in 1930.‎‏ ‏
On this issue, National Security Forces ‎spokesman Hafez Al-Rifai said: ‘This step ‎is part of the insane incitement campaign ‎the Israeli government is mounting against ‎the [Palestinian] leadership, in order to ‎dissuade it from continuing to demand the ‎rights of our people and from achieving a ‎just peace.’‎"

Palestinian convention organized "to protect the land from the settlement demon," speaker calls all Israelis "occupiers"
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 21, 2014

PA TV: Israel is a "vampire"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, May 15, 2014
Official PA TV program Palestine This Morning on the Nakba (i.e., “the catastrophe,” Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel).
PA TV reporter: “The Zionist minorities that suddenly appeared on the map conducted organized campaigns of ethnic cleansing against our people, as part of a joint scheme with the previous occupier, Britain, which handed over the keys of the homeland to a vampire, as is shown by the work of the new Israeli historians.”
Young boy recites poem: "Zion is Satan with a tail"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, May 14, 2014
Official PA TV program A Work of Art showed a child reciting the poem "Visa" by Egyptian poet Hisham El-Jakh.
PA TV host: What poem do you like to recite most?
Muhammad, creative boy who writes and recites poetry: The poem people liked the best, wherever I went, people asked me to recite the poem "Visa" by Hesham El-Gakh...
'When I was young I was taught that Arabness is my honor...
and that our lands extend from one end to the other,
and that our wars were for the Al-Aqsa Mosque,
and that our enemy, Zion, is Satan with a tail
and that our nation's armies are outstanding.'
Note: The poem describes what children have been taught by Arab leaders, opening with "When I was young I was taught...", but criticizes them for not acting according to their own teachings.
"My enemy, Zion, is Satan with a tail" was one such teaching, the poem states, and criticizes the Arab world for its lack of unity, which prevents it from fulfilling the goals it has set.

Official PA TV: Israelis are "the bats of darkness"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, May 14, 2014
Official PA TV News on Nakba Day (i.e., ‘the catastrophe,’ Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel)
Official PA TV newsreader: “The land is still calling its owners to [realize] the right of return – in Haifa, Jaffa, Acre, Lod, Ramle and dozens of other cities and hundreds of villages. The bats of darkness have woven the despicable threads of the Nakba against the legal owners of the land; it [the Nakba] was no transient war or battle between two equal armies, but a red bloodbath [perpetrated] against our defenseless people.”
Israel is a snake; Fatah and Hamas cut off its head
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 8, 2014
A cartoon in the official PA daily presents the reconciliation and unity between Fatah and Hamas as a means to destroy Israelis/Jews.
Israel is depicted as the head of a snake or worm, wearing a Jewish skull cap with a Star of David on it. The head may be intended to be a caricature of Israel's Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman. Palestinian reconciliation is presented as an axe. Its blade is a hand with two fingers forming the sign of victory. The victory sign functions as a pair of scissors, cutting off the head of the snake - Israel. The text on the axe says: "Reconciliation."

Official PA daily calls PM Netanyahu a "war criminal" and Foreign Minister Liberman a "liar" and "immigrant thug"
Source: Al-Hayat (London), Apr. 20, 2014
Op-ed by Jihad Al-Khazen in the official PA daily, re-printed from the London-based Al-Hayat:
"The news [reported] that Israel's Foreign Minister, Avigdor Liberman, said he had held talks with Saudia Arabia and Kuwait, and that Israel can establish diplomatic relations with the Gulf states, since they share Israel's fear of Iran...
Liar, son of a liar, from a terrorist Khazar dynasty, immigrant thug from Moldova, with no right to be in occupied Palestine. The other war criminal, Benjamin Netanyahu, had already alluded to dialogue and relations with the Gulf states against Iran. The Gulf states undoubtedly have reason to be concerned about Iran's Persian aspirations, but they won't deal with them through cooperation with an occupying terrorist state founded on biblical myths...
The Temple Mount is another biblical myth and is not beneath the Noble Sanctuary (Islamic name for the Temple Mount), or above it, or anywhere else. That is a fact, not an opinion, since Yitzhak Rabin, during his first government in the 1980’s, excavated beneath the “Noble Sanctuary” and found the remains of an Umayyad [Islamic] palace, which he tried to restore, but the religious parties resisted him. They told him: ‘[You are] adding sin to crime,’ a phrase… meaning, in this context, that not only did he not find remains of the Temple Mount, but wanted to restore an Umayyad Temple instead.”

Op-ed in PA daily: Israeli parliament is “a handful of crazy people”
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 27, 2014
Op-ed by Adli Sadeq, PLO Ambassador to India and regular columnist for official PA daily
“These days, the occupiers have reached the height of their rampage in their parliament, which is populated by a handful of crazy people reinforced by fairy tales and bundles of dreams, not a single letter of which has been proven true by a single stone of Jerusalem…
Each day, they come out with a new refrain that not [even] the first Zionists before them could have imagined, and pretend that their alleged Temple stood exactly at the site of the Al-Aqsa Mosque…
Recognizing the ‘Jewishness of the State’ is an implicit confirmation that the refugees have no rights, that we stole ourselves a homeland and have not been [living] on our ancestors’ land for thousands of years. If the Jews were indeed present [here] for a short period in the history of our land, that presence was not along the coast, nor in the north or south of Palestine. In other words, the Jews never passed through or were present in the territories which the peace process firmly defines as being outside the negotiations and [designates] as Israeli territory.”
Israel is a monster that stabs and eats children - Palestinian art on PA TV
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Dec. 22, 2013
PA TV host: "Artist Abd Al-Hai Msallam has been dealing with the Palestinian nation's problems, such as the Gaza massacres. What have you been working on lately? This painting is about the Gaza massacre."
Artist Abd Al-Hai Msallam: "Here I show the people, the children, and the Zionist enemy's cruelty and savagery."
The painting shows a monster impaling children on his bayonet and eating them one by one. On the lower right, dead children are piled up to be eaten and two baby monsters are also shown eating children. The three monsters wear skull caps with a Star of David. The scene takes place in the monster's underground lair, just under cacti that are growing on the surface. A Star of David is also painted on the lock of the lair.

Poem in PA daily published 2 days in a row calls Israel “the snake’s head”
Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 5, 2013
“The Arab issue lived in poet Ahmed Fouad Negm, for he was the pan-Arab national poet who believed in the common destiny of this nation, and that the Palestinian cause is every Arab’s cause. For this reason, his words reached Palestine bearing this understanding, as he said:
'Oh Palestinians, [the Israeli] with the rifle shot you,
the Zionists are killing your doves in your sacred area.
Oh Palestinians, I want to go and be with you.
Fire is in my hands, and with you, attack the snake's head (Israel).
And the teachings of Hulagu (Mongol ruler) must die.
Oh Palestinians, the revolution is certain,
with the rifle we will impose our new life.
Oh Palestinians, the revolution is certain
with the rifle we will impose our new life.'

Note: Hulagu - the grandson of Ghengis Khan, founder of the Mongol Empire. Hulagu was a Mongol ruler who defeated Muslim armies in the 13thcentury, spreading death and destruction in much of the Muslim world that he conquered. The expansion of his empire stopped after the Muslim Mamluks defeated him at the battle of Ain Jalut in modern-day northern Israel. The PA depicts Hulagu as a tyrant and the battle of Ain Jalut as a historic battle and victory in Muslim history.
This poem was published in the official PA daily on Dec. 4 and 5, 2013.
EU-funded NGO for youth dehumanizes Jews as "crows"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Oct. 18, 2013
PA TV narrator: “Sometimes we are reluctant to raise our heads in the streets of Jerusalem, because the sight above the walls disturbs us (i.e., of the Israeli flag). Its blue color has nothing to do with the sky or the sea. Its white color is not the color of peace but the color of a rag dipped in our blood. The Star [of David] in its center does not light our way... We may wake up to locked gates and expropriated houses in Jerusalem. The crows pass by and caw (visual of Jews) and the rats are armed (visual of Israeli soldiers). But we know that the gates will smile only when we enter them... Jerusalem will never accept any language other than Arabic and any nationality other than Palestinian, no matter how much the flags of the foreigners fly in its sky.”
