Libel: Israel murdered Arafat
Since the Palestinian Authority was established it has systematically indoctrinated young and old to hate Israelis and Jews. Using media, education, and cultural structures that it controls, the PA has actively promoted religious hatred, demonization, conspiracy libels, etc. These are packaged to present Israelis and Jews as endangering Palestinians, Arabs, and all humanity. This ongoing campaign has so successfully instilled hatred that fighting, murder and even suicide terror against Israelis and Jews are seen by the majority of Palestinians as justified self-defense and as Allah’s will.

Throughout history bogus conspiracy accusations have been used to incite hatred, violence, and mass murder. The myriad conspiracy libels concerning Israel, Israelis and Jews are an integral part of the Palestinian Authority’s ongoing hate promotion. PA libels claim that Israel conspires to infect Palestinians with AIDS, spread drug addiction, conspired and successfully murdered Arafat, and more. The PA’s goal has been to inculcate hatred to the degree that fighting and murdering Jews and Israelis will be glorified as heroic self-defense.
Libel: Israel murdered Arafat
When Yasser Arafat became sick and died in November 2004, the PA spread the libel that Israel poisoned Arafat. It is possible that the claim that Israel killed Arafat with poison was designed to connect Arafat with the Islamic tradition that Jews poisoned Muhammad, Islam’s Prophet:
“Aisha [wife of Muhammad] narrated: The Prophet in his ailment in which he died, used to say, "O 'Aisha! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar [Jewish tribe], and at this time, I feel as if my aorta is being cut from that poison." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 59, Number 713)
Indeed, PA Minister of Religious Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash made that very connection in a Friday sermon broadcast on PA TV. Al-Habbash preached that Arafat was murdered in the same way as Muhammad, repeating three times that Muhammad died from poison given to him in Khaibar - a town known for being Jewish in Islamic tradition:
"Yasser Arafat died a Martyr (Shahid) - we don't have the slightest doubt that they (i.e., the Jews/Israelis) killed him. One way or another, they killed him. Even Allah's Messenger [Muhammad] - they (i.e., the Jews) killed him with poison. When he was dying, he said to his wife Aisha: 'I feel the same pain I felt from the poison that I ate at Khaibar (Jewish village).' Poison that he ate at Khaibar. He continued to feel the pain until he died. 'I feel the same pain I felt from the poison that I ate at Khaibar.'" [Official Palestinian Authority TV, Nov. 8, 2013]
PA: Arafat died of AIDS
Countering the libel that Israel poisoned Arafat, Ahmad Jibril, Head of the PFLP-GC (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command), stated frankly on Al-Manar TV that the PA leadership is aware that Arafat died of AIDS:
"When [Palestinian Chairman] Mahmoud Abbas came to Damascus, I asked: 'What was found in the [medical] inquiry of the death of brother Arafat?' One [of the group] said: 'Frankly, the French gave us the medical report, and the cause of Arafat's death was AIDS.'" [Al-Manar (Hezbollah TV) July 5, 2007]
This information about Arafat’s cause of death has never been released to the public.

To give credence to the libel that Israel killed Arafat, the PA concocted an international conspiracy in which Israel initiated the murder plan, the US approved it (with certain conditions), and the French doctors who treated Arafat concealed the truth in order to salvage the peace process.

Investigation into the cause of Arafat’s death
In 2012, the PA decided to take samples from Arafat's remains to test if he had been poisoned. In November 2013, a Swiss and a Russian team published the results of these tests. The Swiss team concluded that the tests were "coherent with a hypothesis of poisoning." However, a member of the team also stated that "our study did not permit us to demonstrate categorically the hypothesis of poisoning by polonium." The Russian report concluded that "there was insufficient evidence to support the theory that Yasser Arafat died in 2004 by polonium poisoning." [Reuters, Nov. 8, 2013]

The circumstances surrounding Arafat’s death remain unclear, and tests have yielded inconclusive results. In response to reports about Arafat being poisoned, The Independent wrote the following in 2013:
"A leading British biomedical scientist says it is 'highly unlikely' that former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat died in a French hospital in 2004 from a lethal dose of radioactive polonium... Professor Nicholas Priest, who formerly headed the biomedical research unit of the Atomic Energy Authority in Britain, told The Independent that, while poisoning by polonium 'cannot be totally ruled out,' the symptoms were very different from those of the Russian dissident Alexander Litvinenko, who died in London in 2006... He pointed out that polonium would be naturally produced in the bones of anyone buried as a by-product of the bones absorbing lead from the soil, a point, he said, that 'the authors of the report understand but the journalists do not'... Professor Priest said it was 'far too dangerous and scientifically unjustified' to calculate how much polonium was in Arafat's body on the basis of 'such tiny concentrations of polonium.'"
[http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/british-expert-says-its-highly-unlikely-arafat-was-poisoned-8929762.html?origin=internalSearch, Nov. 8, 2013]

In March 2015, three French judges ruled that "it has not been demonstrated that Mr. Yasser Arafat was murdered by polonium-210 poisoning." The French prosecutor stated that there was "not sufficient evidence of an intervention by a third party who could have attempted to take his life." [France 24, Sept. 2, 2015] The French prosecutor also explained that the polonium and lead found in Arafat’s grave were “of an environmental nature.” [Jerusalem Post, March 17, 2015]

Despite these results denying any poisoning, the PA continues to blame Israel for Arafat’s death without any proof or backing for this claim.

The following are examples of this PA libel, in their own words:
Official PA daily op-ed: Sharon poisoned Arafat
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Mar. 6, 2017
Excerpt of an op-ed by Bassem Barhoum, regular columnist for the official PA daily
“At this opportunity, I remind [you] that the national leader, symbol Yasser Arafat – whose office in Ramallah was besieged by the Israeli occupation army for over two years (i.e., during Operation Defensive Shield) and afterwards [former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel] Sharon assassinated him with poison (sic., claims that Arafat was poisoned have been disproven by medical examinations) – underwent a political assassination prior to that.”

Operation Defensive Shield - a large Israeli military operation in April 2002 in response to the many suicide bombings during PA terror campaign (the second Intifada, 2000-2005). Israel put Arafat under siege and invaded six of the largest West Bank cities in an attempt to destroy the terror infrastructure.
Fatah official: Israel ordered the assassination of Arafat and may try to harm Abbas as well

Headline: “Dr. Amal Hamad: Whoever holds on to his Fatahness today, it is as if he is holding on to the embers”
“[Fatah’s Lebanese] Al-Quds magazine met with Fatah Movement Central Committee member Dr. Amal Hamad for an open interview about marking the anniversary of Martyr (Shahid) [Yasser] Arafat[’s death], and the situation in the Gaza Strip in everything regarding the Seventh [Fatah] Conference.” …
Q: “What point has been reached in the investigation into the death as a Martyr of [former PA] President Arafat?”
Fatah Movement Central Committee member Dr. Amal Hamad: “I have no information other than what was said by [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas during the rally to mark the anniversary, and that is that there are a number of signs and proof that they have information. The issue is a central and important issue that will continue until it is proven exactly who the hand [behind Arafat’s death] and the instrument of implementation were. We understand that the one who gave the orders was the Israeli occupation, but we just need to expose the instrument of implementation, and that is the mission of the investigative committee.”
Q: “President Mahmoud Abbas said in his speech on the anniversary of the death as a Martyr of President Arafat: ‘I will not end my life with a renouncement or a sale’ – are these signs that the president’s life is in danger?”
Amal Hamad: “…President Abbas said ‘No’ to the Americans, the Arabs, and the Israelis and maintained the basic principles. Therefore, it would not be strange if those who tried to kill Martyr Yasser Arafat would try to harm President Abbas, who maintained the same basic principles and will continue on the same path of his friend, Yasser Arafat.”

Fatah official: Israel poisoned and killed Arafat, discussed assassination plans with US
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Nov. 15, 2016

Official PA TV program State of Politics, hosting Fatah Advisory Council member Ahmed Abd Al-Rahman

Fatah Advisory Council member, Ahmed Abd Al-Rahman: "Regarding the fate of Yasser Arafat, it was after they [the Israelis] were unable to control him politically, in other words to cause him to make concessions and to submit. They did not find a solution other than eliminating him in this way... I say that they put poison into his ear a year earlier. A slow poison. And it began to work gradually and Yasser Arafat’s health deteriorated... [Former Israeli Prime Minister] Sharon said to [former US President] Bush: 'My brother, let us get rid of him and kill him' - about Arafat.
[Bush] told him: ‘Leave it to God.’
Sharon responded: 'But God needs helpers on earth.'
There was a journalist with Sharon who wrote a biography on Sharon, and this is what he noted (there are no records of such a conversation –Ed.)."

“Fatah Central Committee member and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute [for the Commemoration] of Yasser Arafat Dr. Nasser Al-Qidwa again accused Israel of its responsibility for the assassination of the late Martyr (Shahid) Yasser Arafat (sic., these conspiracy theories have been refuted by international investigators), and said that he has already expressed this position more than once... This is in addition to the medical reports, including the French report, which said that pathology cannot explain this case, and conclusively pointed to poisoning (sic., French experts ruled out poisoning), alongside a long list of evidence that points to Israel… Likewise, he again emphasized that the nuclear material that the French report spoke of, plutonium (sic ., polonium-210), is a dangerous substance found only in the hands of nuclear states, and Israel is a nuclear state that possesses it.”

Official PA TV host: "We want to know who killed our late leader [Yasser Arafat]. Certainly it is the occupation, but we need proof in order to present the facts to the world.... [In 2002], the Israeli occupation entered every area of the West Bank and tried to kill many. It killed many of our [Palestinian] people... Zaki, in a statement to the Hamas movement website 'Al-Risalah Net', said on Thursday evening [Nov. 10, 2016] that the US and Israel are the main suspects in the assassination of Arafat (this conspiracy theory has been refuted by international investigators, -Ed.), in addition to a 'treacherous' hand that is suspected in the crime, and they are trying to investigate it, according to him. "O bullets, let us hear the sound of joy, Fatah of the revolution will not die, and the Fatah member will repeat loudly with us: ’'Long live Fatah!'’’
Narrator: "The Fatah knight, creator of Al-Asifa (i.e., Fatah military unit), the engineer (i.e., Yasser Arafat). Pistol, rifle, and military uniform, with which the Palestinian revolution moved from place to place... With peace, politics, and resistance, with both the olive branch and the rifle, we entered the occupied land..."

Israel and its allies found Arafat to be an insurmountable obstacle to their occupation aspirations and plans, and therefore they [laid] the siege and [committed] the murder by poison... The knight [Arafat] got off his horse, and on the back of the revolution rose another man: Mahmoud Abbas. He tried again, out of a belief in a just peace, but the same cover of injustice remained..."

Anyone who will go back and review what happened to the late president, the symbol Yasser Arafat (for who in a few days it will be 12 years since his death as a Martyr) [parentheses in source], can understand the Israeli method of dealing with the Palestinian leaders in general and with the decision makers in particular. There is no need to remind the Palestinians and the Israelis of the cruel campaign against the symbol Yasser Arafat, until he was brought for burial after being poisoned by the Israeli intelligence and the mercenary henchmen."
