Libel: Israel to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque
Libels
Since the Palestinian Authority was established it has systematically indoctrinated young and old to hate Israelis and Jews. Using media, education, and cultural structures that it controls, the PA has actively promoted religious hatred, demonization, conspiracy libels, etc. These are packaged to present Israelis and Jews as endangering Palestinians, Arabs, and all humanity. This ongoing campaign has so successfully instilled hatred that fighting, murder and even suicide terror against Israelis and Jews are seen by the majority of Palestinians as justified self-defense and as Allah’s will.

Throughout history bogus conspiracy accusations have been used to incite hatred, violence, and mass murder. The myriad conspiracy libels concerning Israel, Israelis and Jews are an integral part of the Palestinian Authority’s ongoing hate promotion. PA libels claim that Israel conspires to infect Palestinians with AIDS, spread drug addiction, conspired and successfully murdered Arafat, and more. The PA’s goal has been to inculcate hatred to the degree that fighting and murdering Jews and Israelis will be glorified as heroic self-defense.
Libel: Israel to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque
Both Fatah and Hamas have generated and sustained religious hatred by disseminating the libel that Israel is attempting to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque. With close to 100% of Palestinians identifying themselves as believing Muslims, this claim is highly
inflammatory and is often combined with the call to “defend Al-Aqsa” from the Jews. The Al-Aqsa libel includes numerous fabrications: Israel was behind a mosque fire in 1969; Israel is currently digging under the mosque in order to topple it; Israel plans to replace it with a new Temple; Israel is preparing a missile attack on the mosque, and more. This libel has been actively promoted since 1998.

This Hamas TV cartoon video depicts demonic Jews digging under the mosque in an attempt to topple it.

The following are more examples of the Al-Aqsa libel:

Official PA TV program The Occupied Capital, on heritage and folklore

Official PA TV host: “The Palestinian heritage refuses to undergo Judaization, despite the terror of the occupation that attempts to harm our heritage and Judaize it. Palestine, with its people, its land, its history, its trees, and everything within it – it is the faithful protector of our heritage, and it is waging a daily struggle against the occupation, at a time when Israel does not cease its acts of forgery and robbery against the Muslim and Christian holy sites and the antiquities sites - which are the required basis for heritage and national culture - and steals our Canaanite heritage.”

Headline: “Fatah on the anniversary of Arafat’s [death]: We are going to the conference with a revolutionary and creative vision, which is consistent with the revolution’s achievements”

“The Palestinian National Liberation Movement Fatah said in a statement for the 12th anniversary of the death as a Martyr (Shahid) of the president, the leader, the symbol Yasser Arafat: ‘We are going to the Seventh [Fatah] Conference in order to revive our movement, [which is] the backbone of the PLO and the leader of the national enterprise…
Fatah added in its announcement: ‘We adhere to our people’s right to legitimate resistance, and continue mobilizing and organizing our national ranks, in order to fight the plan to Judaize Jerusalem and its holy sites. [We continue] in resistance in order to fight the crimes of the occupation army, the settlers, and the summary executions… alongside our campaign in the arena of international law.’”
Abbas: UNESCO resolution ignoring Jewish connection to holy sites is meant to “prevent harm,” and to condemn “Israeli violations” against East Jerusalem’s “identity”
Source: WAFA, official PA news agency, Nov. 1, 2016
Headline: “The [PA] president: Peace is our strategic goal, and the key to it is the end of the Israeli occupation”

“[PA] President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas said that peace is our strategic goal, that it is an interest of all of us, and that the key to peace is to end the Israeli occupation and to put an end to the historical injustice caused to our people, so that the two states – Palestine and Israel – will live in security, stability, peace, and good neighborliness.
During a press conference that he held in Bethlehem with his Italian counterpart President Sergio Mattarella, His Honor (i.e., Abbas) expressed his constant willingness to make peace with Israel and to implement the two-state solution according to the resolutions of the international institutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. He expressed support for the international peace conference that France is working to convene at the end of this year [2016].
Likewise, he clarified that the role of UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and its resolutions is to protect the global human heritage, and as part of this to prevent harm to it and to condemn the Israeli violations that are meant to change the nature and identity of East Jerusalem. He noted that the latest Israeli attacks, which attempted to mix religion and heritage, are incorrect and inappropriate.
President Mahmoud Abbas again emphasized the honor he has for Judaism, and the permanent call that Jerusalem be open to worship for all believers of the three monotheistic religions.
His Honor expressed support for every regional and international effort to struggle with and uproot the roots of terror, extremism, and violence, which are deserving of condemnation regardless of their source and nature.”

"The [PA Palestinian Supreme Fatwa] council warned of the regional consequences of an escalation in the rate of the invasions of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, which constitutes a red line for Muslims throughout the world. Likewise, it clarified that the occupation authorities have escalated the rate of their invasions of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque for what are called the Jewish holidays, and that these invasions reveal their aggressive intentions towards it and verify the falseness of their claim to commit to retaining the historic status quo that exists there… The council urged everyone who can come to the Al-Aqsa Mosque to invest the maximum efforts to reach it and strengthen the presence there so as to defend it, and emphasized that our people will adhere to their mosque, regardless of the price and sacrifices that will be required, until Allah inherits the land and everything in it.”

The PA and its leaders consider all of the Temple Mount an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore they view any presence of Jews on the mount as an "invasion." It should be noted that Jews who visit the Temple Mount only enter some sections of the open areas, and do not enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock.
PA TV discounts archaelogical find as a "forgery": Israel "fabricates lies" as part of plan to "build the alleged Temple in place of the Al-Aqsa Mosque"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Oct. 29, 2016
Official PA TV News, on Israeli archaeologists casting doubt on the authenticity of the newly found papyrus from 700 BCE on which is written "Jerusalem" in ancient Hebrew script
Official PA TV reporter: "The Israeli media is attempting to use a document which is said to be a certificate on which is written in the ancient Hebrew script 'Jerusalem,' and which was found four years ago. According to the story, Israel attempts to fabricate lies and to find proof of them or to write what it wants about them (i.e., the finds) in order to impose the Israeli plan that aspires to build the alleged Temple in place of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Here begins the story, in the middle of the West Bank desert (i.e., Judean Desert) a piece of papyrus form the 7th century BCE is found, and according to the claims it is a certificate for the transfer of a certain type of wine that was sent by the king from the town of Na’arata in the Jordan Valley, north of Jericho... The thief who claims that Israel has a history through his pursuit of antiquities thieves – is looking for the first market to display what he stole. Thus also [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu, who is attempting to stand in the path of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) after the slap on the cheek he received last week. Against the background of events that have shaken the Israeli archaeologists regarding the level of reliability due to the precedents of forgery of documents with ancient tools and years of excavations, one of the Israeli archaeologists comes out, Israel Finkelstein [from Tel Aviv University], who denies the presence of any connection of the Jews to Jerusalem, or even any archaeological evidence pointing to the location where the Temple was located (sic., see note)."

PA council: "The blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the buildings adjacent to it are about to collapse at any moment" due to Israeli excavations
Source: Ma’an, independent Palestinian news agency, Oct. 27, 2016
Headline: “The [PA] Fatwa Council warned against the collapse of the Al-Aqsa Mosque”
“The [PA] Palestinian Supreme Fatwa Council condemned the invasions by the Jewish extremists into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza (i.e., the Temple Mount), which have increased after the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) resolution that determined that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque belongs to the Muslims and negated any connection between the Israeli occupation and the mosque, with its walls, plazas, and lower parts.
The council condemned the personal participation of the occupation’s [Israeli] Prime Minister [Benjamin Netanyahu] in the excavation activities that are held under the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque (sic., see note below), and the decision of the occupation government’s [Israel] Antiquities Authority that calls on every Jewish youth before [army] enlistment to take part in excavations under the Al-Aqsa Mosque as they are a national obligation (sic., see note below). This is in addition to the participation of settler associations in searches for remnants of the alleged Temple in an attempt to prove any sort of presence of theirs in Jerusalem and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. Likewise, the council clarified that these excavations herald [the fact] that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the buildings adjacent to it are about to collapse at any moment, Heaven forbid...
These statements were made during the 145th meeting of the council, led by [PA] Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories and Supreme Fatwa Council Head Sheikh Muhammad Hussein.”

Headline: “Arrogance – Netanyahu intends to participate in excavations under the Al-Aqsa Mosque”
“The occupation’s [Israel’s] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised in press statements to personally participate in the removal of soil from under the Al-Aqsa Mosque this week (sic., Netanyahu’s actual statement appears in a note below), and called on the Jewish population to join him…
PLO Executive Committee member [and Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine] Ahmed Majdalani emphasized that Netanyahu’s statements are full of arrogance and haughtiness. Majdalani said in statements to [the official PA radio station] The Voice of Palestine that these statements are meant to thwart the latest UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) resolutions regarding the Jerusalem [Noble] Sanctuary (i.e., the Temple Mount) and [the] Old [City of] Jerusalem through lies and claims about the Jews' alleged connection to it.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Oct. 19, 2016, in the wake of UNESCO’s resolution erasing the Jewish connection to the Temple Mount, that his government would help fund the Temple Mount Sifting Project of the Ir David Foundation. The project works to recover archaeological artifacts from approximately 400 truckloads of soil removed from the Temple Mount by the Waqf without supervision in 1999, as part of its illegal construction of the El-Marwani Mosque in the Solomon’s Stables area of the Temple Mount.

PA Grand Mufti: Israel invades and excavates tunnels under Al-Aqsa in "search for a false and alleged history"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 25, 2016
“[PA] Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories and preacher at the Al-Aqsa Mosque Sheikh Muhammad Hussein… condemned the dangerous and ongoing escalation by the occupation authorities and its herds of settlers against the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, something which is expressed in easing the settlers’ invasions of it and the excavation of tunnels under it in a search for a false and alleged history. He explained that the latest UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) resolution emphasizes that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque [plaza] is Islamic and belongs only to the Muslims.”

The PA and its leaders consider all of the Temple Mount an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore, they view any presence of Jews on the mount as an “invasion.” It should be noted that Jews who visit the Temple Mount only enter some sections of the open areas and do not enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock.

UNESCO passed a resolution in Paris on “Occupied Palestine” on Oct. 13, 2016, with 24 countries voting in favor, 6 against, and 24 abstentions. The resolution was later approved by UNESCO's World Heritage Committee on Oct. 26, 2016, in a secret ballot in which ten countries voted in favor of the resolution, two opposed, eight abstained, and one country, Jamaica, was absent.
In the resolution UNESCO refers to the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism, only as “Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif,” and presents it only as a “Muslim holy site.” The resolution condemns “escalating Israeli aggressions” and Israeli “violations” at the site, and calls on Israel “to respect the integrity, authenticity and cultural heritage of Al-Aq?a Mosque/Al-?aram Al-Sharif… as a Muslim holy site of worship.” The resolution likewise refers to the Western Wall Plaza as the “Al-Buraq P

The Martyr’s daughter Iman, 17, said in an exclusive interview with Al-Hayat Al-Jadida that her father dedicated his life to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its defense, and he did not calm down when he heard about the attacks and provocations of the settlers and occupation forces against the Mosque and those carrying out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) in it, and the occupation authorities punished him several times by distancing [him] (i.e., from the Temple Mount), arresting [him], and they even forbade him from entering Jerusalem where he was born..."

PLO accuses Israel of “systematic acts of Judaization,” “organized terror” against Palestinians in Jerusalem, “particularly” in the Al-Aqsa Mosque
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 10, 2016
Headline: “The Department for Jerusalem Affairs condemned the occupation’s crimes against the residents of Jerusalem”
“The PLO Department for Jerusalem Affairs condemned the ongoing policy of summary assassinations that the occupation authorities are carrying out against the [Arab] citizens in Jerusalem, the latest of which was its shooting of young Musbah Abu Sbeih (i.e., terrorist, murdered 2, see note)...
The [PLO] department said yesterday [Oct. 9, 2016] in a press release: ‘The tension in Jerusalem and its escalation are a result of the policies and acts of the Israeli occupation, its ongoing violations, the systematic acts of Judaization, the settlements, and the theft of lands. All of these have caused and cause greater anger among our people, which defends its holy sites and its legal national rights against the occupation’s arrogance. The [PLO] department emphasized that our people will stand with all its might against this Israeli arrogance and the organized terror being perpetrated against our people standing firm in Jerusalem, and particularly in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

Fatah warns Israel must “bear the consequences” of what it is “perpetrating against the Al-Aqsa Mosque... [allowing] settlers to invade it, defile it, and desecrate its sanctity”
Source: Official Fatah Facebook page, Oct. 9, 2016
Posted text: "The occupation government and its executive branches must bear the consequences of what they are perpetrating against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the disregard of Muslim sensibilities, and the granting of permission to the settlers to invade it, defile it, and desecrate its sanctity on a daily basis under the umbrella and protection of the occupation police. This, while banning hundreds of men and women from Jerusalem who are carrying out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and carrying out a policy of distancing [them from the Al-Aqsa Mosque] and detentions. All of these steps will not be accepted in silence, and residents of Jerusalem will defend the place of the ascent to Heaven (i.e., the Al-Aqsa Mosque) of our precious messenger Muhammad, blessings and peace be upon him.
Therefore, we in the Jerusalem branch of Fatah emphasize our adherence to Jerusalem, the strengthening of the [Arab] presence in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City [of Jerusalem], and [that] it will not be abandoned to the extremists and terrorists [of the occupation]..."

"Alleged Temple organizations" refer to religious Jewish movements including the Temple Mount Heritage Foundation, The Initiative for Jewish Freedom on the Temple Mount and Students for the Temple Mount, which spread awareness of the importance of the Temple Mount in Judaism and encourage people to visit the site. Preceding the Purim holiday, religious websites such as the Temple Mount News website [Feb. 23, 2015] announced a "special visit" to the Temple Mount, which was expected to draw "masses of Jews."

Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Sept. 29, 2016
Headline: "Ministry of Information: The Al-Aqsa Intifada is a milestone in our struggle"
"The [PA] Ministry of Information stated in a notice yesterday [Sept. 28, 2016] that the Al-Aqsa Intifada (i.e., PA terror campaign 2000-2005) is one of the milestones in our national and legal struggle to get rid of the occupation…
The ministry emphasized in the announcement for the 16th anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Intifada that the fact that the popular uprising broke out in order to defend the first direction of prayer (i.e., Jerusalem), the second mosque, and the third 'sanctuary' (i.e., the Al-Aqsa Mosque), proves the depth of our people’s adherence to their Islamic and Christian holy sites, and this is the ongoing daily defense as part of which we stand with [bare] hands against the invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by the extremist gangs under the protection of the army of the occupation and its police…
The ministry in its statement encouraged the national, Arab and foreign media outlets operating in Palestine to mention the anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Intifada, and to note the state terror that Israel has perpetrated and still perpetrates against our people, and to bring back the stories of the Martyrs (Shahids), the injured, and the prisoners, who guard the freedom of Palestine with their blood, chains, and suffering."
