Fatah spokesman: Israel is trying to “completely take over the Al-Aqsa Mosque in order to realize their delusion of establishing the alleged Temple on its ruins”

Headline: “On the 47th anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Mosque arson, Fatah: We will not wave the white flag in front of the occupation’s plans to divide the Al-Aqsa Mosque”

“Official Fatah Spokesman in occupied Jerusalem Raafat Alayan emphasized that his movement will not wave the white flag and agree to the harming of the blessed Al- Aqsa Mosque, to its division by areas and times, or to an attempt to change its Islamic characteristics by the Israeli occupation. He said this in a press release that he issued on the 47th anniversary of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque arson, and emphasized in his announcement that the Israeli occupation, for the last 47 years and until this moment, is attempting by every way and means to tighten its rule of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and change its historical Islamic characteristics. However, the resolve and resistance of the Palestinian people in general, and the Fatah Movement in particular, stood and still stands against the miserable Israeli attempts to completely take over the Al-Aqsa Mosque in order to realize their delusion of establishing the alleged Temple on its ruins.”

"Division according to areas and times" refers to a proposed law (May 2013) being reviewed in Israeli Parliament that would allow for both Jews and Muslims to pray on the Temple Mount, what the Palestinians call the Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza. The law seeks to designate separate prayer times and areas of the site for Muslims and Jews. However, Israeli PM Netanyahu has stated on many occasions that the Israeli government has no intention of ‎changing the status quo on the Temple Mount, which means Jews are allowed to enter the Temple Mount, but cannot pray there or engage in any type of worship.
