PA official conveys Abbas' greetings to released terrorists at ceremony held in their honor

     “The organization The Jerusalem People of Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) honored the released veteran prisoners from the Qalandiya refugee camp, Ramadan Yaqub, Ahmad Shehadeh, and Muhammad Afaneh yesterday [Feb. 1, 2014]. [The three] were recently released as part of the third phase of the release of prisoners from before [the] Oslo [Accords].
[The organization honored the released prisoners at a] ceremony held yesterday in the Al-Andalus Hall in [the West Bank city of] El-Bireh, in the presence of several ministers, Islamic and Christian religious figures and [representatives of] the Fatah Central Committee…
Fatah Central Committee Member Dr. Jamal Muhaisen conveyed the greetings of the President [Mahmoud Abbas] and the Fatah Central Committee and said that the ceremony was [being held] to honor the generals who had served long years in the prisons of the occupation…
At the conclusion of the ceremony, dozens of dignitaries joined the People of Ribat organization in honoring the released prisoners, and in distributing plaques of honor to Ramadan Yaqub, Ahmad Shehadeh, and Muhammad Afaneh.”

Notes: Ramadan Yaqub participated in the murder of Sarah Sharon who was stabbed to death in Holon on Jan. 20, 1993. Yaqub was serving a life sentence but was released in December 2013 as one of 104 terrorists whom Israel agreed to release to fulfill the PA's precondition for renewing negotiations.

Ahmad Shehadeh was arrested in 1985 for murdering Yussuf Farhan. He was sentenced to life imprisonment, but his sentence was later commuted to 45 years in prison. He was released in December 2013 as one of 104 terrorists whom Israel agreed to release to fulfill the PA's precondition for renewing negotiations.
