Abu Al-Einein views US demand that he be fired for glorifying a murderer as “insolence”
On May 2, 2013, Abbas advisor Sultan Abu Al-Einein glorified a murderer who killed an Israeli father of five. In response, five members of US Congress wrote a letter to Abbas demanding Abu Al-Einein be removed from office.

"In response to a letter sent by the American administration… to the office of the President of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, that demanded that Fatah Central Committee Member Sultan Abu Al-Einein be fired following his visit to the home of the Palestinian Al-Zaghal family whose son had killed a settler… Abu Al-Einein issued a press release that said: ‘The Americans have clearly and unambiguously proven that they are not in favor of peace, and that they always side with the occupation that is imposed on the Palestinian people. It is shameful that the American administration sees a problem in Sultan Abu Al-Einein’s visiting a family living in conditions not fit for human beings… The Israeli occupation is responsible for the settler’s death since by numerous ways and means it is determined to entrap Salam’s brother in the web of collaboration… Therefore, it is natural that Salam should take revenge on the occupation that had attempted to taint this family’s honor… (Al-Einein claimed that Israel had tried to recruit the murderer’s brother). They submitted documents that claimed many things, but I say that the legitimate international resolutions grant the right to resist the occupier to any nation whose land has been occupied. We are implementing the legitimate international resolutions relevant to our Palestinian land, since it is the right of any nation to resist occupation by all means of resistance. They attack us and kill our children, whereas we are to do nothing more than conduct funerals daily for our relatives, and swallow our tongues. But we will not be silent in light of these organized crimes against the Palestinian people. […]
He added: ‘We are seekers of peace, and we will remain so, but it is our right to resist occupation.’”
Note: Sultan Abu Al-Einein is an advisor to PA Chairman Abbas on NGOs and a member of Fatah Central Committee. Despite the letter from the Congressmen, Al-Einein was not removed from office.
