Abbas' advisor on terror murders: "We are behind them in every movement, in every action and every deed"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Nov. 5, 2014

Supreme Shari'ah Judge and Abbas' advisor, Mahmoud Al-Habbash:
“First of all, allow me to say that we kiss every forehead, every hand and even every foot that carries out Ribat (religious conflict/ war over land claimed to be Islamic) at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and in Jerusalem... I am not talking about strengthening their resolve; I am talking about participating in their resolve... We are behind them. The leadership is with them. A few days ago, President [Mahmoud Abbas] greeted them, reinforced them and requested more Ribat from them. This statement may have angered the Israelis and the occupation, that the President is inciting the Palestinians from Jerusalem to [perform] Ribat. Yes, we are inciting the people in Jerusalem to [perform] Ribat. Ribat means to protect and to hold on to your ground. We are with them in every movement, in every action and every deed, and we welcome what they are doing at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

PA TV broadcasts 19 times in 3 days Abbas' implicit call for violence in Jerusalem
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Nov. 4, 2014

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas: “It's not enough for us to say: ‘There are those carrying out Ribat’ (religious conflict / war over land claimed to be Islamic). We must all carry out Ribat in the Al-Aqsa [Mosque]. It's not enough for us to say: ‘The settlers have arrived [at the Mosque]’. They have come, and they must not come to the Sanctuary (i.e., Temple Mount). We have to prevent them, in any way whatsoever, from entering the Sanctuary. This is our Sanctuary, our Al-Aqsa and our Church [of the Holy Sepulchre]. They have no right to enter it. They have no right to defile it. We must prevent them. Let us stand before them with chests bared to protect our holy places.”

Abbas advisor: Israel plans to ban Muslims from Al-Aqsa Mosque
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 31, 2014
“Mahmoud Al-Habbash, the Supreme Shari’ah Judge and Mahmoud Abbas’ Advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, said that the complete closing of the Al-Aqsa Mosque for the first time [since 1967] was planned by the official establishment of the occupation state. In addition, he said that ‘the claim of the attempted murder of the extremist Yehuda Glick, who engineered the daily invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque’s plazas and calls for the construction of the alleged Temple over the ruins of the Mosque, was the excuse needed to carry out this premeditated plan to divide Al-Aqsa and permit the Jews to pray in it just like the Muslims. This constitutes the first step toward the complete Judaization [of the Mosque] and toward the banning of Muslims from going to it.’”

PA meeting attended by Abbas: Israel’s “violations” against Al-Aqsa Mosque are part of plan to make Palestinians leave Jerusalem
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 29, 2014
“[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas presided over a meeting of the Supreme Committee for Jerusalem Affairs yesterday evening, in the presence of Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah. The [participants] discussed the latest developments in occupied Jerusalem, especially the settlers’ continuous invasions of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. The participants warned of the gravity of Israel’s actions and unceasing attacks and discussed ways to strengthen the resolve of the Palestinian residents in the Holy City and to fight the Israeli violations, whose goal is to cause the Palestinian people to emigrate from Jerusalem and to change its Palestinian Arab character. They warned that the continuation of these provocative attacks and violations would lead to a deterioration of the situation and to an intensification of the cycle of violence, the results of which cannot be foreseen – if Israel continues to allow extremist Jews to continuously invade the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

Note: The PA considers any presence of Jews on the Temple Mount an "invasion." However, all visitors are subject to rigorous checks by Israeli security personnel before being granted access to the Temple Mount.
Abbas advisor: Israel “is planning to carry out a massacre or to burn the [Al-Aqsa] Mosque”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Oct. 27, 2014
Official PA TV program Topic of the Day hosted Ahmed Al-Ruweidi, advisor to Abbas on Jerusalem Affairs
“Israel wants to make some incident happen, and on the basis of this incident it will divide [the Al-Aqsa Mosque] according to place. It is planning to carry out a massacre or to burn the Mosque – this is what we saw at the Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron). It only divided the Ibrahimi Mosque after the Hebron massacre (i.e., when an Israeli extremist gunned down Muslims who were praying in the mosque, see note below).”

Notes: The physical division and division according to time and place refers to a proposed law (May 2013) being reviewed in Israeli Parliament that would allow for both Jews and Muslims to pray on the Temple Mount. The law seeks to implement separate prayer times for Muslims and Jews at the site.
Cave of the Patriarchs massacre: On Feb. 25, 1994, Baruch Goldstein, a member of an Israeli far-right movement, opened fire on Muslims praying inside the Ibrahimi Mosque at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron, killing 29 and wounding 125. Goldstein’s attack was widely condemned in Israel and by Jewish communities in the diaspora; Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin condemned Goldstein’s action, calling it “a loathsome, criminal act of murder” and described Goldstein as “a shame on Zionism and an embarrassment to Judaism.” Rabin also noted that, contrary to what is implied above, Goldstein had acted alone. In addition to verbal condemnation, the Israeli government took concrete steps to prevent similar attacks from occurring, by dividing the Mosque into Muslim and Jewish sections, imposing administrative detentions on several individuals and revoking their weapons permits, and by designating several extremist movements, including Goldstein’s, as illegal terrorist groups.
Abbas to US: Israel responsible for escalating violence in Jerusalem because of its “invasions of Al-Aqsa Mosque”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 27, 2014
This article was published during a period of high tension in Jerusalem that included riots in Palestinian areas and numerous terror attacks against Israelis. On Oct. 22, a ‎Palestinian ran over people waiting at a light-rail station in Jerusalem with his car, killing a three-month-old and a 22-year-old. On Oct. 29, 2014, Islamic Jihad member Mutaz Hijazi attempted to assassinate Rabbi Yehuda Glick, an activist working to assure rights for Jews to visit and pray on the Temple Mount.

“[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas sent an urgent letter to the US administration, in which he demanded that it intervene quickly to stop the Israeli escalation in East Jerusalem, and especially the settlers’ and extremist Jews’ invasions of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. In his letter, the President warned of the danger posed by the steps Israel is taking to divide the holy places according to time and place. He noted that if [these steps] continue, they will further inflame the situation, which is liable to spin out of control, and held the Israeli government responsible for this grave escalation.”

Note: The physical division and division according to time refers to a proposed law (May 2013) being reviewed in Israeli Parliament that would allow for both Jews and Muslims to pray on the Temple Mount. The law seeks to implement separate prayer times for Muslims and Jews at the site.
Abbas’ advisor warns that Israel may be planning a massacre at Al-Aqsa Mosque or to attack its buildings
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 20, 2014
“At a press conference attended by Jordanian MP Dr. Muhammad Al-Dawaymeh, Attorney Ahmed Al-Ruweidi, the PA President's Office’s advisor on Jerusalem Affairs, warned that Israel may perpetrate a massacre in the Al-Aqsa Mosque or attack its buildings, as an excuse to carry out the plan to divide it according to areas… Al-Ruweidi emphasized that the events of the past two weeks at the Al-Aqsa Mosque indicate that Israel is gradually implementing a planned scheme decided on by the Israeli government – in particular, by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – against the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Al-Ruweidi expects the occupation to perpetrate a great crime at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, following which the Mosque will be divided according to areas, as happened at the Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs) in Hebron, where the occupation exploited the massacre (i.e., when an Israeli extremist killed 29 worshippers at the mosque in 1994) that had occurred in order to divide it according to space. In addition, Al-Ruweidi addressed the attempt to inflame the Al-Aqsa Mosque premises by firing rubber-coated bullets and tear gas at it, in an attempt to reenact the burning of the Mosque in 1969, or to carry out a massacre in its plazas, after which the plan to divide it according to areas would be implemented.”

Abbas: Israel "would have destroyed the Al-Aqsa [Mosque]" if it could
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, June 8, 2014
Egyptian TV host: "From Bethlehem to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Mr. President, we see a continuous Judaization and desecration of the holy places. What are the practical measures against this [Israeli] plan?"
PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas: "If the Israelis were allowed to go further, they would have gone further and destroyed the Al-Aqsa [Mosque]. They would have destroyed the Al-Aqsa [Mosque], but I don’t think they will do it... The Israelis are now far more careful in all their steps, because we can hurt them legally and diplomatically - it isn't 'diplomatic terrorism.' We can hurt them legally and diplomatically in the whole world if they continue to behave like that."

Abbas rep: Palestinian presence in Jerusalem is 5000 years old, Israel threatens the city's Islamic-Christian identity
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 13, 2014
“The talks at the International Conference for the Support of Jerusalem, organized by the UN, the Organization for Islamic Cooperation and the Turkish Foreign Ministry, began in the Turkish capital, Ankara, yesterday [May 12, 2014], with the participation of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ representative, [PA] Minister of Religious Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash…
In the speech [given in the name] of the President [Abbas], Al-Habbash asserted that Palestinian presence in Jerusalem dates back over 5,000 years, and that the Palestinians are the only permanent element in Jerusalem, while the others came and went. Al-Habbash described the grave dangers threatening Jerusalem under the Israeli occupation – despite the fact that nobody in the world recognizes Israel’s sovereignty over it. He called on all powers, parties and governments to cooperate in defending Jerusalem and protecting its Islamic-Christian identity.”

PA Minister of Religious Affairs demands all of Jerusalem for Palestinians, "Or there will be no peace"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, May 2, 2014
Official PA TV broadcast the Friday sermon from the Al-Tashrifat Mosque in the presidential compound in Ramallah. The sermon was delivered by PA Minister of Religious Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash. The audience included PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and PA Finance Minister Jawad Naji.
PA Minister of Religious Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash: “Our rights are non-negotiable and we state them clearly. We want a real state with clear borders, with Jerusalem as its capital – and hear [me] well: Jerusalem as its capital, not with its capital in Jerusalem; its capital is the whole of Jerusalem, all of Jerusalem – who ever wishes [otherwise], let them wish [otherwise] and whoever opposes, let them oppose, in spite of them. Jerusalem will be nothing other than ours, or there will be no peace…
Forming one government for one people, one authority, one state, with one leadership and one weapon; with one decision that will lead, in a few months’ time, to free elections, in which the Palestinian people will state its will…
[The new unity government] will concentrate the administrative decisions (i.e., all internal affairs) of the Palestinian government and the Palestinian people under one umbrella, one authority, one weapon and one security [establishment], which will protect the rights of the Palestinian people and the dignity of the Palestinian person.”
Abbas defined Jewish history in Jerusalem as a "delusional myth"
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Jan. 17, 2014

PA TV broadcast PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ speech at the Jerusalem Committee meeting in Marrakech.

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas: “The Israeli occupation authorities are rushing, in an unprecedented way –using the most despicable and dangerous means – to carry out what they consider to be the final battle in their war to erase and remove the Islamic-Christian Arab character of East Jerusalem, in an effort to Judaize it and establish it as the capital of the occupation state…
The occupation authorities are continuing their efforts to achieve their final goal of Judaizing Jerusalem, acting in several ways. These include, first, their attempt to change the facts of Jerusalem’s landscape in every detail, and replace it with a different landscape whose purpose is to serve delusional myths and the arrogance of power. They imagine that by this brute force they can invent a [Jewish] history, establish claims and erase solid religious and historical facts.”

Abbas applauds following call for Jihad in Jerusalem
Source: Official PA TV Live, Jan. 13, 2014
PA Minister of Religious Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash: “There is a message we must convey to those who kidnapped the Yarmouk [Palestinian] refugee camp [in Syria] with baseless false slogans, pretexts, and excuses. We say to them: ‘The venue for resistance and Jihad is not the Yarmouk refugee camp. Whoever wants resistance, whoever wants Jihad, the direction for Jihad is well-known and clear. Everyone knows it. I don’t think that there is anyone who doesn’t know where Jihad is supposed to take place. [Applause from the audience] I don’t think that there is anyone who doesn’t know to where we should direct efforts or where to concentrate the masses. I don’t think there is anyone who doesn’t know this. Those who send young people to Syria or elsewhere to die for a misdirected cause must stop and understand that Jerusalem is still waiting. Jerusalem is the direction, Jerusalem is the address. [Abbas and audience applaud.] A compass that does not point to Jerusalem, Muhammad has nothing to do with it. Put an end to your ignorance, and recognize that you [those fighting in Syria] are nothing more than small tools in a game [controlled by] malicious hands that are running a filthy game to crush the Ummah (Islamic Nation) and diminish it, and deflect the compass, away from its true direction.”

Abbas in letter: Jesus was a Palestinian
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Dec. 24, 2013
PA TV program Palestine This Morning interviewed Father Raed Abu Sahliya about the meaning of Christmas.
Father Raed Abu Sahliya: “First of all, I want to thank his Excellency, President Mahmoud Abbas for his letter, which was published yesterday [Dec. 23, 2013]. The letter is truly beautiful and comprehensive and I think the person who wrote it – if he [Abbas] didn’t write it himself – specializes in writing Christmas letters. Each of its paragraphs has a specific topic and one of the topics is that Jesus was a Palestinian and that the Christian faith started specifically in Bethlehem and spread to the rest of the world.”
Abbas' Christmas speech: Jesus was “a Palestinian messenger”
Source: WAFA news agency, Dec. 23, 2013
Ma’an, an independent Palestinian news agency and Wafa, the official Palestinian Authority news agency, both reported on Abbas’ Christmas speech 2013. Wafa in English and Ma’an in Arabic. Both referred to Jesus as “a Palestinian messenger."
“President Mahmoud Abbas Monday said in his Christmas message that millions of Palestinians are still denied the right to worship in their homeland… In Bethlehem, more than 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ was born; a Palestinian messenger who would become a guiding light for millions around the world. As we Palestinians strive for our freedom two millennia later, we do our best to follow his example. We work with hope, seeking justice, in order to achieve a lasting peace.”

Abbas calls on the Arab nation to “protect Jerusalem, restore it and purify its holy places”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, June 6, 2013
Excerpt from PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ speech about Jerusalem, at the fourth International Islamic Conference which took place in Ramallah:
“Today, 46 years ago, Jerusalem fell under Israeli occupation and Israel began a rolling plan for changing the geographic and demographic character of the holy city, by demolishing the homes of Jerusalem’s residents, systematically expelling them from their place of birth and preventing the construction of houses or the development of economic interests. At the same time there is the frenzied settling rampage and falsification of facts, names and terrain. They [the Israelis] change names. They think that the signs they put up to change Jerusalem’s, Jericho’s or Nablus’ names also change history. No one can change history. The purpose of all this is to isolate the city from its Palestinian surroundings and to work towards emptying it of its residents or at least towards reducing their numbers to a minimum, so that the majority of the city will become Israeli…
This land is our land and they must uproot their settlements for there to be peace.
However, all these bad years of occupation, settlement, exploitation, frenzied Judaizing schemes… did not lessen the Palestinians’ devotion to their eternal capital…
We emphasize from here, from our religious, historical and political awareness that the responsibility for protecting Jerusalem, restoring it and purifying its holy places, rests not only upon the Palestinians. It rests upon the whole Arab, Islamic and Christian nation…”
Abbas: Israeli actions “indicate an evil plot to destroy Al-Aqsa and build the alleged Temple”
Source: Al-Watan (Saudi Arabia), June 3, 2013
PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas in an interview to the Saudi paper Al-Watan:
Q: “Jewish organizations are making frantic efforts, both visible and hidden, to complete the Judaizing of the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] and to take control of it, especially following the recurring invasions of Al-Aqsa and the attacks on worshippers (the mere presence of Jews on the Temple Mount is considered an "invasion." However, all visitors are subject to rigorous security checks by Israeli security guards before being granted access to the Temple Mount. - Ed.). What affect do you think this has [both] on the Palestinian level and on the regional level? And do you think that the Arab and Islamic responses are at the adequate level?
A: “We’ve said on several occasions that Al-Aqsa is in danger because the excavations Israel is conducting in the Haram (i.e., the Temple Mount) and beneath its foundations put it in danger of collapse. Likewise, preventing West Bank Palestinian worshippers from entering the Mosque and giving radical Jews free rein to enter its courtyards and conduct their religious ceremonies – all these acts indicate an evil and dangerous plot to destroy Al-Aqsa and build the alleged Temple. Unfortunately, these dangers, which are clear for everyone to see, have yet to receive proper Arab, Islamic and international responses. Most countries have not implemented the Arab and Islamic Summit’s resolutions for providing assistance to Jerusalem’s residents and institutions."

Abbas acknowledges Israel is land of three monotheistic faiths
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 26, 2013
In Abbas’ speech at the World Economic Forum in Jordan, Abbas acknowledges Judaism as one of the three monotheistic religions connected to the land of Israel. This contrasts with usual PA policy, which denies or omits Judaism as a major religion connected to the land:
“Palestine has a spiritual and religious status and an extraordinary geographic location. This is the land of the three monotheistic religions, the land of peace, to which hundreds of millions of people turn…
In a few days 46 years of the occupation of the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip will have passed. After 20 years of negotiations, the Israeli government still deceives, procrastinates, and evades the demands of peace. Nonetheless, we still say that we want a comprehensive and just peace and want to reach the two-state solution, to reside peacefully side by side, in accordance with the legitimate international resolutions, the Road Map and the Arab Peace Initiative. Everyone knows that we have fulfilled all our obligations in accordance with the signed treaties, that we have clarified our positions and intentions and that we have done everything required of us…
I am sending a message from here to our Israeli neighbors – ending the occupation of our land, releasing the prisoners, withdrawing the settlers and settlements, and dismantling the racist separation wall are what will establish peace and ensure security for you and for us. There is still a chance to make this peace, so let’s turn this peace into reality, so that our present and future generations can enjoy its fruits and live in its shade.”
