He noted that they announced the organization of a procession with many participants from the new gate of the Old City [of Jerusalem], and called for wide participation today in invasions of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. The head of the [PLO] Department for Jerusalem Affairs said that the violations that are escalating in the holy city [of Jerusalem] are a crime that is encouraged by the Israeli occupation government, which is fully responsible for the violence and terror that are taking place."

PLO official claims Israel carries out assassinations of youth and crimes against Al-Aqsa Mosque

Headline: “Qurei condemns the occupation’s crimes in the holy city”
“PLO Executive Committee member and Head of the Department for Jerusalem Affairs Ahmed Qurei ‘Abu Alaa’ warned against the severity of the incessant Israeli violations and the dangerous escalation that [Israel] is carrying out in occupied Jerusalem, its environs, and against the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. [He also warned against] the crimes that are being committed, which reflect the Israeli occupation government’s way, and against the violations that harm all areas of life: arrests in the ranks of the young people and assassinations on the ground, the latest of which was the assassination of young 17-year-old Ahmed Ghazal (i.e., terrorist, stabbed 3) in the area of Al-Wad Street, which leads to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

Ahmed Ghazal – a 17-year-old Palestinian terrorist who stabbed two Israeli civilians in the Old City of Jerusalem on April 1, 2017. Ghazal fled the scene, and after being cornered by police he stabbed an officer before being shot and killed.
PLO official: Israel is carrying out “desecration of the Islamic holy sites, particularly the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 12, 2016
Headline: “Qurei discussed the developments with the ambassadors of China and the European Union”
“PLO Executive Committee Member and Head of the Department for Jerusalem Affairs Ahmed Qurei discussed the situation in the Palestinian arena with Chinese Ambassador to Palestine Chen Xingzhong and European [Union] Ambassador Ralph Tarraf…
Qurei emphasized that the European states need to take an initiating political position against the Israeli plot to thwart the two-state solution plan by continuing the expansion of the settlements, the destruction of the homes, and the desecration of the Islamic holy sites, particularly the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.”
PLO official claims Israel wants “religious war,” is “burning” the Al-Aqsa Mosque to establish the “alleged Temple"
Source: WAFA, official PA news agency, Aug. 22, 2016
Headline: “Qurei calls for Arab and Islamic coordination in order to defend the Al-Aqsa Mosque from the Judaization and division”

“Head of the PLO Department of Jerusalem Affairs [and PLO Executive Committee member] Ahmed Qurei warned of the dangers and consequences of the cruel and unprecedented Israeli attack against the holy city (i.e., Jerusalem) and the Al-Aqsa Mosque… in a pitiful attempt by the occupation government to change the status-quo at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in preparation for its complete Judaization – from the rejection of the [Jordanian] Waqf’s authority to the increase in the invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza by the extremist settlers and rabbis…

He said: ‘The Israeli occupation government’s insistence on increasing the invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its plaza and preventing [Muslim] worshippers from reaching it, is a step that is part of the implementation of the aggressive and racist Israeli policy that indicates the declaration of a religious war. [The war’s] main target is the holy city and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque…’

Qurei added that the occupation authorities are burning the Al-Aqsa Mosque, with all of its characteristics, on a daily basis… in order to realize the largest goal of the occupation state: the destruction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the establishment of the alleged Temple on its ruins.

PLO official: Terrorists who stabbed and murdered were “Martyrs” who were “murdered” by Israel
Source: WAFA, official PA news agency, Oct. 4, 2015
Headline: “Qurei condemned the murder of the young Fadi Alloun”
“PLO Executive Committee member and Head of the Department for Jerusalem Affairs Ahmed Qurei condemned the murder of the young Jerusalemite Fadi Alloun by the Israeli occupation forces. The young Alloun died as a Martyr (Shahid) after the occupation police fired ten bullets which penetrated his body in the Musrara area near the Damascus Gate in occupied Jerusalem, after a group of settlers chased him. Likewise, Qurei condemned the killing of the young Muhannad Halabi by the occupation police in Jerusalem yesterday [Oct. 3, 2015] evening.”

Fadi Alloun - 19-year-old Palestinian terrorist who stabbed and injured Israeli citizen Moshe Malka (15) near the Old City of Jerusalem on Oct. 3, 2015. Alloun fled and was shot and killed by Israeli police.

Muhannad Halabi - 19-year-old Palestinian terrorist who killed 2 Israelis, Rabbi Nehemiah Lavi and Aharon Bennett, and injured Bennett’s wife, Adele, and their 2-year-old son in a stabbing attack in the Old City of Jerusalem on Oct. 3, 2015. Following the attack, he was shot and killed by Israeli security forces. Prior to his attack, in a post to his private Facebook page, the terrorist referred to recent terror attacks as part of a "third Intifada,” and said that it was a response to Israel’s actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and that the Palestinian people would not “succumb to humiliation.” This is a reference to the PA libel that Israel is plotting to take over and destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and to the PA's portrayal of Jews praying on the Temple Mount as "an invasion of the Al-Aqsa Mosque."
Former PA Prime Minister: Israel is Judaizing and destroying the Al-Aqsa Mosque to build the alleged Temple

Former PA Prime Minister and PLO Executive Committee member Ahmed Qurei
: "The most important thing in Jerusalem is the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The Al-Aqsa Mosque is being subjected to Judaization and division by times and areas, and moreover to destruction in order to build the alleged Temple."

Note: Division according to areas and times” refers to a proposed law (May 2013) being reviewed in Israeli Parliament that would allow for both Jews and Muslims to pray on the Temple Mount. The law seeks to designate separate prayer times and areas of the site for Muslims and Jews.

PLO official condemns "invasion" of Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza and decries "the fable and myth of the Temple"
Source: Al-Ayyam, Mar. 11, 2015
Headline: Qurei condemned the fact that the occupation authorities leveled lands in Issawiya, and the invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque"
"PLO Executive Committee member and Head of the Department for Jerusalem Affairs Ahmed Qurei… condemned the invasion of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza (i.e., Temple Mount) through the Mughrabi Gate by the Jewish organization Students for the Temple, with increased protection by the Israeli occupation police. Likewise, he condemned the fact that some of them carried signs on which were drawn parts of the alleged Temple and that they gave explanations about the fable and myth of the Temple."

The PA and its leaders consider all of the Temple Mount an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore they view any presence of Jews on the mount as an "invasion." It should be noted that Jews who visit the Temple Mount only enter some sections of the open areas, and do not enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock.
PLO official uses term “the alleged Temple”
Source: WAFA, official PA news agency, Jan. 28, 2015
“PLO Executive Committee Member and Head of the Department for Jerusalem Affairs Ahmed Qurei ‘Abu Alaa’ condemned the invasion of the Al-Aqsa Mosque plazas through the Mughrabi Gate by dozens of settlers… In a press release [published] today, Wednesday [Jan. 28, 2015], Qurei strongly condemned the invasion by several groups of settlers, who included several members of the alleged Temple organizations.”

Note: The PA considers any presence of Jews on the Temple Mount an "invasion." However, all visitors are subject to rigorous checks by Israeli security personnel before being granted access to the Temple Mount.
"Alleged Temple organizations" refer to religious Jewish movements including the Temple Mount Heritage Foundation, The Initiative for Jewish Freedom on the Temple Mount and Students for the Temple Mount, which spread awareness of the importance of the Temple Mount in Judaism and encourage people to visit the site. Preceding the Purim holiday, religious websites such as the Temple Mount News website [Feb. 23, 2015] announced a "special visit" to the Temple Mount, which was expected to draw "masses of Jews."
Israel is trying to “harm” the Al-Aqsa Mosque and “build the alleged Temple over it”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Jan. 15, 2015
“Headline: PA Mufti and Qurei warned of attempts to infringe on the ownership of the Al-Aqsa Mosque”
"... PLO Executive Committee Member and Head of the Department for Jerusalem Affairs Ahmed Qurei ‘Abu Alaa’… said that these Jewish organizations, which are actively engaged in the field of settlement and [in sounding] the call to Judaize the Holy City, reflect the Israeli occupation government’s course of action, which aims to take control of the Holy City and harm the Al-Aqsa Mosque in particular, since the goal behind this plan is to Judaize the Al-Aqsa Mosque, give it a Jewish character and build the alleged Temple over it…
‘Abu Alaa’ strongly rejected the unrealistic myths being propagated by these evil Israeli organizations, according to which they are the owners of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. In addition, he emphasized that every inch of the Holy City is the property of Muslims around the world, and that all the claims of these Israeli organizations, and all the plans they are proposing, are nothing but false and empty claims, lies and false fantasies.
In addition, he called for action, using all means, against any cowardly Israeli attempt to harm the sanctity and standing of the Al-Aqsa Mosque – the first direction of [Muslim] prayer and the third holiest site [in Islam] – as it constitutes, in its entirety, a waqf (i.e., an inalienable religious endowment in Islamic law), requiring the entire Arab and Islamic nation to defend and protect it.”

PLO official rejects term "Temple Mount" as false
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 29, 2014
Headline: “Qurei: The occupation’s plans in Jerusalem destroy any possibility of peace”
“PLO Executive Committee Member and Head of the Department for Jerusalem Affairs Ahmed Qurei ‘Abu Alaa’ warned of the danger inherent in the claims and lies of the Israeli occupation government, according to which the Al-Aqsa Mosque is only the Southern Mosque, and that is what belongs to Muslims, while all the rest – the Dome of the Rock, and the mosque’s plazas – are part of what is called the ‘Temple Mount.’ Qurei expressed his opposition to these false claims, that will not negate the Islamic religious, cultural, and historical identity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, including all its pure grounds and plazas, and [said that] all of these claims are rejected outright.”
PLO official warns against Israel's "evil intentions in regards to the Holy City"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 25, 2014
Headline: “Qurei: Netanyahu’s statements regarding Jerusalem express the aggression and racism of the Israeli policy”
“PLO Executive Committee Member and Head of the Department for Jerusalem Affairs Ahmed Qurei (Abu Alaa) emphasized that the holy city (i.e., Jerusalem) will remain Arab-Islamic, no matter how much the steps and violations of the Israeli occupation increase…
He strongly rejected the irresponsible statements of Israeli Prime Minister [Benjamin Netanyahu], who said that Jerusalem will remain in the hands of Israel. He emphasized that these statements [express] the racism and aggression of the Israeli policy and its evil intentions in regards to the Holy City…
Abu Alaa warned of the danger in using Jerusalem, the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the nonsense about building the alleged Temple as ways of applying pressure to the Israeli politicians and decision makers, in order to wave it around during the Israeli parliament election campaign. He emphasized that the entire Al-Aqsa Mosque is an Islamic mosque, the first direction of prayer, and the destination of Prophet [Muhammad], peace be with him [in his Night Journey], and that the Jews have no right to one speck of dust in it. Likewise, he noted that East Jerusalem will be only the capital of the independent State of Palestine, and that the Palestinian people will not share it with anyone."

He added: ‘This is not ‎the first crime the Jewish extremist gangs have committed. They have committed ‎several [other] crimes that reflect the Israeli terrorist mentality… with the murder of Abd ‎Al-Rahman Al-Shaloudi of Jerusalem, the youth Mutaz Hijazi, Ibrahim Al-Akari and ‎dozens of Jerusalem residents whom Israel has murdered in cold blood.’”‎

Ahmed Qurei incited against the conference at which Yehuda Glick was shot
Source: WAFA news agency, Oct. 29, 2014
On Oct. 29, 2014, Mutaz Hijazi, an Islamic Jihad member and released prisoner, attempted to murder Rabbi Yehuda Glick, who was seriously wounded in the shooting attack. On the morning of the attempted assassination, former PA Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei (Abu Alaa) issued a press release in which he condemned the conference organized by Glick and called for "immediate intervention" to protect Jerusalem:
"PLO Executive Committee member and Head of the Department for Jerusalem Affairs Ahmed Qurei (Abu Alaa)... in a press release [published] on October 29, 2014... mentioned the danger posed by the call to carry out extensive, large-scale invasions the following day during an Israeli Zionist conference entitled 'Israel returns to the Temple Mount' (organized by Rabbi Yehuda Glick, who was shot following the conference - Ed.)... Qurei said the Holy City, and particularly the Al-Aqsa Mosque, were undergoing one of the most dangerous periods since the beginning of the Israeli occupation, necessitating immediate intervention in order to protect the 'first direction of prayer' [Jerusalem] and rescue it from the threat of Judaization and division according to time and space. [Qurei said that] the Israeli schemes being concocted against the Al-Aqsa Mosque must not be taken lightly or ignored, and [that] it was inconceivable that the Israeli occupier continue its atrocious aggression against the Holy City and the Al-Aqsa Mosque."

PLO official: Israel is implementing “dangerous plots” against Al-Aqsa Mosque with the goal of “Judaizing Jerusalem”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 6, 2014
“PLO Executive Committee Member [and Head of the Department for Jerusalem Affairs] Ahmed Qurei ‘Abu Alaa’ said the occupation authorities’ attempt to enforce a physical division and [division] according to time (i.e., of prayer times for Jews and Muslims) of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and prevent worshipers from entering it… constitute a crime that joins the [list of the] occupation’s crimes against the mosque.
In a press release yesterday [Aug. 5, 2014], Abu Alaa described the escalating aggression and [increasing] violations of the occupation government in the Holy City and the Al-Aqsa Mosque [that are being perpetrated] by force of arms, as a religious war aimed at completely Judaizing Jerusalem and beginning the implementation of its dangerous plots against the sites holy to Islam and Christianity and against the Al-Aqsa Mosque – heralding a dangerous explosion of the situation, for which the occupation government will be held accountable.”

Note: The “physical division and [division] according to time” refers to a proposed law (May 2013) being reviewed in Israeli Parliament that would allow for both Jews and Muslims to pray on the Temple Mount. The law seeks to implement separate prayer times for Muslims and Jews at the site.

Former PA PM denies authenticity of Jewish gold medallion discovered near Western Wall
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Sept. 11, 2013
When this gold medallion (see picture) was discovered 50 meters from the Temple Mount in September 2013, with clear Jewish symbols (a menorah -candelabra, a shofar - ceremonial horn, and a Torah scroll - Bible), the PA rushed to deny the authenticity of the find.

PA TV host:
? "I would like your response to the Jewish treasures discovered near the Al-Buraq Wall (i.e., the Western Wall)..."
Ahmed Qurei, former PA Prime Minister and member of the PLO Executive Committee: "I think this is a falsification, a falsification of the truth. It's all an attempt to make claims. They did not find anything. They excavated beneath the Al-Aqsa Mosque and didn't find anything. They found only Roman and Byzantine artifacts. They only found a few ancient Canaanite artifacts. They didn't find anything [Jewish], [not even] a stone."

Former PA PM calls ancient Jewish Temple in Jerusalem “alleged”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 29, 2013
“[Former PA Prime Minister and] Member of the PLO Executive Committee and head of the Department for Jerusalem Affairs, Ahmed Qurei ‘Abu Alaa’ denounced the fact that scores of extreme settlers congregated in the Al-Buraq Wall’s (i.e., the Western Wall of the Temple Mount) plazas, west of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and then broke into it (the Mosque) to mark the third anniversary of the death of those they call: ‘The alleged Temple activists of 2010.’ In addition, in an announcement to the press yesterday, Wednesday, [Sept. 28, 2013], he [Qurei] condemned the fact that scores [of people] belonging to the settler herds dared to break into the Al-Aqsa Mosque in small groups that came from the direction of the Mughrabi Gate, guarded and escorted by Israeli occupation soldiers. He warned of the danger that lies in the participation of several rabbis from the alleged Temple organizations in these shameful break-ins (the mere presence of Jews on the Temple Mount is considered a 'break in.' However, all visitors are subject to rigorous security checks, - Ed.).”

Note: The killing above seems to refer to a terror attack close to Hebron in which four people were killed. Two of them were apparently active in Temple Mount organizations and accompanied groups to the Temple Mount.
