US Congress members condemn Abbas
for planning to name Ramallah square
after terrorist who killed 37

Following PMW reports that the Palestinian Authority was planning to name a square in Ramallah after terrorist Dalal Mughrabi, US Vice President Biden put pressure on the PA to cancel the event. Abbas gave in and cancelled the event.

Dalal Mughrabi led the most lethal terror attack in Israel’s history, known as the Coastal Road massacre, in 1978, when she and other Fatah terrorists hijacked a bus on Israel's Coastal Highway, killing 37 civilians, 12 of them children, and wounding over 70.

Secretary of State Clinton also condemned the PA's terror glorification, saying that naming “a square after a terrorist who murdered innocent Israelis” was “wrong and must be condemned.” [Clinton speech to AIPAC, March 22, 2010]

In addition, twenty US Congress members wrote a letter to Abbas on March 26, 2010, condemning the naming of the square:
