PMW in the Media

PMW director quoted in article about Paris museum exhibit on Palestinian suicide bombers

"A Paris museum has drawn outrage from France’s Jewish community over a display depicting photos of Palestinian suicide bombers as martyrs.... Itamar Marcus, director of Palestinian Media Watch, explained that the 'greatest motivation for terror is glorifying the terrorists, adopting their ideologies, and honouring them as freedom fighters. It is this success of terror that breeds more terrorists. The blood of many civilians…will be on the hands of the Jeu De Paume Museum and those who embrace terror around the world, who are convincing future suicide bombers that their murderous deaths will have purpose.'"

Commentary article uses PMW documentation to show Palestinian intentions regarding peace

"How can Israel possibly make peace with people who consider its very existence 'illegal and null and void?' Nor has anything much changed in 49 years, as anyone who follows Palestinian Media Watch would know. Just last month, for instance, another senior PA official widely considered a “moderate” in the West, Jibril Rajoub, told a television interviewer, 'We as yet don’t have a nuke, but I swear that if we had a nuke, we’d have used it [against Israel] this very morning.' PA officials and the official PA media still consistently deny the Jews’ historical connection to the land of Israel, teach their people that the ultimate goal is a world without Israel, and glorify those who murder Jews." (June 3, 2013)

International Business Times on PMW bulletin about UNRWA

"On Monday, the director of the U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees was photographed with a map titled 'Arab Palestine.' [...] But in a statement released on Tuesday, the UNRWA rejected what they called 'baseless allegations of erasing Israel from the map.' Palestinian Media Watch, which originally reported on the picture... [said] in a statement on Friday, “UNRWA spokesperson [Christopher] Gunness' justification that the map ‘depict[s] a pre-1948 map’ is baseless, as the map includes the PLO-PA [Palestinian Liberation Organization -- Palestinian Authority] flag and not a British flag.”

The Blaze reports on PMW bulletin: UN representative poses with map erasing Israel

"The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) launched a German-funded project in southern Lebanon where the area's Director of UNRWA Affairs, Ann Dismorr, posed with a map devoid of any trace of the State of Israel, instead presenting it as a map of 'Palestine.' Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) captured the UN representatives' egregious actions and noted that above the map is the Palestinian flag and the inscription: 'Arab Palestine.' The text at the bottom of the map also reads just 'Palestine.'"

The Blaze reports on PMW bulletin about PA official Rajoub: "If we had a nuke, we'd have used it this very morning"

"Jibril Rajoub, a senior Palestinian Authority official who is frequently characterized as a 'moderate' in both the Western and Israeli media, said on Lebanese television that if the Palestinians had a nuclear weapon they would have nuked Israel 'this morning.' Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) discovered and translated to English the interview Rajoub gave to Lebanon’s Al Mayadeen TV on April 30. Rajoub also posted the video clip to his own Facebook page, according to PMW."

Washington Times - PA official Rajoub called to "nuke" Israel, exposed by PMW

"A leading Palestinian Authority said in an interview broadcast earlier this month that he supported violence against Israel, including a nuclear attack. 'I swear that if we had a nuke, we’d have used it this very morning,' said Jibril Rajoub, the deputy secretary of the Fatah Central Committee and the chairman of the PA Olympic Committee (as reported by PMW). He made the comments during a television interview with the Lebanese Al-Mayadeen television channel, which was then posted on his personal Facebook page."

Times of Israel reports on PMW bulletin about PA who called for "all forms of resistance" against Israel

"Jibril Rajoub, deputy secretary general of Fatah’s Central Committee... told Lebanese TV channel Al-Mayadeen on May 1 that, for Fatah, 'resistance to Israel remains on our agenda.” “I mean resistance in all of its forms,' he elaborated. 'At this stage, we believe that popular resistance — with all that it entails — is effective and costly to the other side [Israel],' Rajoub said in the hour-long interview, which was highlighted by the watchdog group Palestinian Media Watch on Tuesday."

British government whitewashes its funding of the PA's support for terror, documented by PMW

"Earlier this month, the British Parliament held a rare debate on "hate incitement against Israel and the West by the Palestinian Authority." The discussion was initiated by Gordon Henderson MP, who cited evidence compiled by Palestinian Media Watch, which documented the Palestinian Authority's long history of glorifying terror and promoting hatred against Jews."

Times of Israel on PA glorification of murderer Issa Abd Rabbo, exposed by PMW

"The secretary general of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s office last month honored the mother of a veteran Bethlehem prisoner convicted for the murder of two Israelis, Palestinian Media Watch revealed on Monday."

Israel Today reports on PA deception exposed by PMW

"In a telling example of just how genuine, or, rather, how false, Israel's peace partners in the Palestinian Authority are, a monument that replaces the entirety of the land of Israel with a State of Palestine was hastily removed from Bethlehem before US President Barack Obama visited a little over a week ago... The monument switch was revealed by Palestinian Media Watch, which cited a Palestinian newspaper report showing that local Bethlehem residents were not pleased by what they saw as a cowardly ploy to avoid upsetting Obama."

Times of Israel reports on PMW bulletin about PA monument hidden from Obama

"The municipality of Bethlehem removed a monument depicting the Palestinian state as covering the entire area from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea ahead of US President Barack Obama’s visit to the city last Friday, Palestinian Media Watch revealed on Sunday. Obama’s route into the city would have taken him past the monument, called “The State Monument,” and said to show the “State of Palestine,” PMW said. The model of “Palestine” also includes all of Israel, thereby erasing it completely, the watchdog group noted."

PMW findings initiate debate in Norway about funding to the PA

"For a few weeks now, a fierce public discussion is underway in Norway. The Norwegian Foreign Ministry has reported in the past to the parliament that Norway's aid does not, for example, fund terrorists in prison. Palestinian Media Watch insisted that this information was incorrect. The debate became heated. This week, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry issued a notice, which should be called a confession, that their first report was wrong. Norway does transfer funds to the Palestinian Authority and these funds reach murderers sitting in prison in the form of ongoing grants.

AJC calls on EU to investigate their aid to the PA, due to PMW influence in Norway

The AJC Transatlantic Institute calls on the European Union and other donors to the Palestinian Authority to investigate how aid is spent to ensure it is not being used to reward terrorists.... Norwegian state broadcaster NRK TV recently reported that the PA is using foreign aid for payments to convicted terrorists in Israeli prisons (originally reported by PMW)... Norwegian Member of Parliament Peter Gitmark (Conservative) called these payments an 'indirect' form of funding terrorism."

TheBlaze publicizes PMW translation of Morsi expressing anti-American views

"Itamar Marcus who heads Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) tells TheBlaze, 'At PMW we are not surprised by the duplicity of Morsi. PMW has stressed that an integral component of Muslim Brotherhood ideology is the necessity for preparation and timing of terror and violence. The MB has the identical goals of Al Qaeda – a world subjugated under Islam. But as opposed to Al Qaeda that preaches attack the infidels at all times at all costs, the MB believes that it must be timed for proper benefit.'"

JTA reports on PMW story about French mayor who honored Palestinian terrorist

"A suburb of Paris made the killer of Israeli minister Rehavam Ze’evi an honorary resident. Bezons awarded the title last month to Majdi Al-Rimawi, according to [Palestinian Media Watch and] the March edition of its official newsletter... The inscription on the plaque prepared by Bezons... referred to Al-Rimawi as a 'political prisoner,' according to Palestinian Media Watch."

Mayor of Paris suburb honors Palestinian terrorist, exposed by PMW

"A suburb of Paris has granted honorary citizenship to the Palestinian assassin of Israeli tourism minister Rehavam Ze’evi, Palestinian media reported recently... 'This is a strong political act,' said mayor Dominique Lesparre at the honorary citizenship ceremony, according to Palestinian Media Watch, which wrote about the event. 'It is an unequivocal [statement] concerning the [Israeli] colonization of the Palestinian people.'"

MP says Norway "indirectly" funds terror, following Norwegian news report on PMW findings

"[Following NRK Norway TV's news report on PMW findings,] Norwegian MP Peter Gitmark criticized his government's funding of the Palestinian Authority's general budget, asserting that it 'almost seems to be an aid program to terror-convicted prisoners in Israel.'"

Norwegian Foreign Ministry attacks PWM, the messenger, instead of dealing with the problem of PA incitement

Note: Article is written in Norwegian.

JNS on PMW report: European funds pay salaries of Palestinian terrorists in prison

"The British and Norwegian governments are refuting reports by Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) showing they contribute funds to salaries given to thousands of Palestinian terrorists imprisoned in Israeli jails... Recently the PA Minister of Prisoners’ Affairs, Issa Karake, corroborated PMW’s original claim, stating that the reference to the prisoners’ “salaries” as social 'assistance' was a false 'rumor.'"

International Business Times on PMW report: Britain and Norway pay salaries of Palestinian terrorists in prison

"Two of the Palestinian Authority's largest contributors include Britain and Norway, who shelled out more than $93 million and $53 million, respectively, in 2010... Unfortunately, much of this funding may be used for the promotion of something dramatically different from peace. According to new report out on Thursday from the Israeli-based research institute Palestinian Media Watch, 2.5 percent of the Palestinian Authority's monthly budget is eaten up by salaries for prisoners sitting in Israeli jails, many of whom are convicted of plotting or carrying out terrorist attacks. That 2.5 percent amounts to about $5 million every month that is paid as a salary to these men, not, the report emphasized, as welfare or social assistance to the men’s families."

JNS reports on PMW's response to Israeli and Palestinian textbook report

"'The report [comparing Israeli and Palestinian textbooks] is a complete whitewashing of Palestinian hatred of Jews and Israel and is one of the worst developments for peace since the early days of the Oslo Accords,' Itamar Marcus, the director of Palestinian Media Watch, told JNS.org. 'I totally reject the findings of the report, which are meant to create a symmetry between the Israeli and Palestinian education system that simply does not exist,' Marcus said. 'Palestinian textbooks are filled with blatant delegitimization and hatred, and this report is doing a great disservice to any future prospects for peace by essentially encouraging Palestinians to continue their curriculum of teaching hatred to their children.'"

New Jersey Jewish News interview with PMW director Itamar Marcus

"Itamar Marcus, founder and director of Palestinian Media Watch, worries about the radicalization of the Palestinian people, particularly the youth. In a recent phone conversation from Israel, he described textbooks, children’s shows, and even summer camps that glorify terrorists, demonize Israelis, and erase Israel from maps."

JPost article: PMW one of the leading NGOs fighting anti-Israel bias

"I am prepared to make an impolite but provable claim. Israeli public diplomacy should not be left in the hands of native-born Israeli bureaucrats and politicians... Look instead at the private NGOs that are battling the anti-Israel delegitimization and demonization campaigns... A few of the most outstanding examples include... Palestinian Media Watch’s Itamar Marcus..."

USA Today article about Al-Jazeera's new US channel quotes PMW director Itamar Marcus

"Itamar Marcus, director of Palestinian Media Watch, an Israeli research institute that studies Palestinian society and the Arab world through their media and educational materials, said there is 'a big difference' between Al Jazeera's Arabic programming and its international English-language broadcasts. 'The Arab broadcasts very often promote a very radical Islamist approach,' said Marcus. 'What's brilliant,' Marcus said, is the way the company 'binds this in with all the latest technology and even occasionally interviews with differing opinions, including Israeli leaders.' This creates a 'perception' of balanced reporting, Marcus said, 'but in fact, the overall underlying agenda is very radical.'

JPost on PA denial of Jewish connection to Jerusalem

"The Palestinian Media Watch NGO of Itamar Marcus exposed an item: The Palestinian Authority has denounced the existence of any Jewish history in Jerusalem. In this report, it claimed that the Jewish Temple 'exists only in the minds of radical organizations.' Not only do they deny Jewish identity to Jerusalem and the land, they actively reject and destroy all evidence and facts placed before them. Instead, they invent an ancient Palestinian history in its place. The Palestinian Authority, from Abbas down, accuses Israel of stealing Palestinian heritage when confronted with the evidence of our history."

Israel Hayom reports on PMW bulletin about Fatah glorification of terror on Facebook

"Arab media watchdog Palestinian Media Watch - headed by Itamar Marcus - has examined how Fatah has chosen to celebrate its 48th anniversary, which the Palestinian party has nicknamed 'Breakthrough Day.' The institute discovered a plethora web pages related to Fatah's official media and within the PA's educational system that displayed messages of incitement and accusations against Jews. Fatah glorified terrorism as acts of heroism on its Facebook page, PMW reported. "

National Post reports on Fatah's new logo erasing Israel, exposed by PMW

"The Israel-based Palestinian Media Watch noted the new Fatah logo features keys, a symbol of Palestinian claims to property within Israel, while the checkered pattern overlaying the image of a united Palestine is reminiscent of a keffiyeh, the scarf worn by PLO leader Yasser Arafat and a well-known symbol of Palestinian nationalism."

Israel Hayom criticizes those who believe Abbas is a peace partner, citing PMW

"20 years is long enough to realize that no Palestinian leader has a mandate to sign on a conclusive end to the conflict. You have to be familiar with Palestinian culture — even within Fatah — to understand that they have no intention of coming to terms with our existence. These matters are explained at length on Itamar Marcus' Palestinian Media Watch website. I highly recommend that Peres' advisers peruse the site."

World Tribune on Fatah support for Hamas rocket attacks against Israel, citing PMW material

"'The Palestinian Authority and Fatah condemned Israel’s Operation Pillar of Defense that aimed at destroying Hamas’ terror infrastructure in the Gaza Strip,' PMW, which has testified in the U.S. Congress, said in a bulletin dated Dec. 13. 'It never once condemned Hamas’ rocket attacks on Israel during the eight-day conflict. Instead, senior PA and Fatah leaders ‘bless Hamas,’ ‘praise and salute’ the launching of rockets against Israel, and even advocate ‘armed struggle.’"

PMW reports on new Fatah logo erasing Israel from the map - Times of Israel

"A new logo, issued by Fatah ahead of the party’s 48th anniversary celebrations, is replete with bellicose symbols including the barrel of a rifle and a Palestinian keffiyeh (headscarf) covering the entire territory from the Jordan river to the Mediterranean Sea, eliminating the state of Israel, Palestinian Media Watch revealed Wednesday."

National Review defends Israeli airstrike that hit Hamas TV journalists, citing PMW material

"The U.S. government has designated a Al Aqsa TV 'a terrorist organization because it is a primary Hamas media outlet and airs programs and music videos designed to recruit children to become Hamas armed fighters and suicide bombers upon reaching adulthood.' What are some of these videos like? According to Palestinian Media Watch, an organization that has been called to testify before Congress many times, a recent video beamed the legend 'Killing Jews is worship that draws us close to Allah.' Another video contained the jaunty lyric: 'Brigades — we kidnap soldiers, Brigades — we kill Jews . . . Your body parts are scattered everywhere. The cemeteries await you.'"

Israel Hayom article cites PMW material about Hamas threats to Israelis

"For days, Hamas has been broadcasting battle-cry video clips on its Al-Aqsa TV station, produced especially for Operation Pillar of Defense... One such segment includes the following warning to the Israel Defense Forces: "The price will be high, sons of Zion... There is nothing here for you but death..." This is but one of many and varied examples — translated by Palestinian Media Watch over the years — of how the Palestinians actually view their conflict with Israel. It has nothing to do with the 1967 borders. Nor does it have to do with “occupation”; Israel withdrew completely from the Gaza Strip in 2005.... It is an assertion of a religious imperative that Israel must be destroyed."

The Daily Mail on PMW report about UK money going to PA salaries for terrorists

"British aid money is helping to pay ‘salaries’ to Palestinian prisoners – some of them convicted terrorists – serving time in Israeli jails, according to a report. The Palestinian Authority is paying them up to £1,957 a month – more than the average salary of a UK worker... A report by watchdog organisation Palestinian Media Watch shows how Palestinian Authority legislation – introduced last year – sets out eligibility criteria for the payments, which a minister claimed were ‘social assistance’ for prisoners’ families. This includes those serving multiple life sentences for acts of terrorism, such as the planning and directing of suicide bombings."

Wall Street Journal on PMW report about PA salaries for terrorists, funded by EU countries

"A report by Palestinian Media Watch recently revealed that British taxpayers have been paying salaries to terrorists. It revealed that £3 million every month is paid by the Palestinian Authority (PA) in salaries to Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. The salaries come from the PA's general budget. That 'general budget' is kindly provided by the U.K., among other EU countries. Many British taxpayers, struggling to pay their family's way through a recession, might rightly wonder why their money is going to pay as much as £2,000 a month to people serving the longest sentences—those who have targeted Israeli buses and other civilian targets with suicide bombers, for instance. That is higher than the average wage in nearly all of Britain."

JPost article about Israel Arab MK Tibi cites PMW research exposing Tibi glorifying terrorists

"Likud lawyer Yossi Fuchs recently filed a complaint with the elections commission asking that [Israeli Arab member of Israeli parliament] Tibi be disqualified, charging that he had made a speech in Ramallah in January 2011 in praise of Palestinian 'martyrdom.'[...] Palestinian Media Watch, which recorded the so-called 'Shuhada' speech in Ramallah in 2011, is planning to release the full 17- minute video of the speech he gave... 'Someone will make the complaint, not us. But according to our understanding of the law, since he absolutely glorified terrorists, he won’t be eligible to run for the Knesset,' [PMW director Itamar] Marcus says."

Times of Israel reports on PMW bulletin about glorification of suicide bomber Hanadi Jaradat

"A female Palestinian suicide bomber was honored by the Palestine Committee of the Arab Lawyers Union, which has 200,000 members in 15 countries. Hanadi Jaradat, who killed 21 Israelis and injured more than 50 in a suicide terrorist attack in a Haifa restaurant in 2003, was working as a lawyer at the time of the attack. The Arab Lawyers Union 'created the ‘Martyr Hanadi Jaradat plaque of honor’,' which a delegation presented during a visit to Jaradat’s family earlier this week, according to Palestinian Media Watch, citing the Palestinian daily Al-Ayyam."

Israel Hayom cites PMW material about glorification of female terrorist Hanadi Jaradat

"One particularly poignant case in point [of PA terror glorification] — as reported by Palestinian Media Watch — is the granting of a posthumous award to Hanadi Jaradat by the Palestine Committee of the Arab Lawyers Union. Jaradat was a 28-year-old Palestinian woman from the West Bank town of Jenin, in the process of completing her clerkship at a law firm. The young beauty was a mere few weeks away from becoming a full-fledged attorney. But she opted, instead, to blow herself up. The date was Oct. 5, 2003. The venue was Maxim’s restaurant in Haifa. That suicide bombing killed 21 people, among them young children and Arabs."

Article about Jordanian teachers refusing to teach about the Holocaust cites PMW research about PA hate education

"As far back as 2007, Palestinian Media Watch released a report entitled ”From Nationalist Battle to Religious Conflict: New 12th Grade Palestinian Textbooks Present a World Without Israel.” After reading the report and reviewing the Palestinian textbooks, Senator Hillary Clinton called the school books 'child abuse' and the 'glorification of death and violence.' ... Sadly, the situation is still the same in 2012."

The Weekly Standard uses PMW documentation to refute Abbas' claims of Israeli incitement

"Abbas warned of settler attacks [which] are 'fueled by a climate of incitement in the Israeli curriculum' which is rife with hatred.' This is an astonishing statement given the way Israel is treated in Palestinian textbooks and in the PA’s own broadcasts (see Palestinian Media Watch’s account of how Jews and Judaism are presented on the Palestinian airwaves)."

Washington Post: Human rights groups should pay attention to the work of PMW

"While Hamas’s calls for genocide most certainly should be condemned, those who would accept the position Abbas has taken, even as recently as Friday, when he submitted to the United Nations an application for statehood, should be aware of the work of Palestinian Media Watch. The group, an Israeli research institute focused on monitoring the messages of all aspects of Palestinian media, has detailed some of the deception of the Palestinian Authority, even during moments of peace talks. For example, while portraying himself to the West as a man of compromise, Abbas said flatly last October that 'we refuse to recognize a Jewish state.'"

The Commentator on PMW bulletin - the PA says Israel is worse than the Nazis

"A new bulletin from Palestinian Media Watch highlights that on three separate occasions over September 2012, the Palestinian Authority outlet has not only sought to juxtapose Israel with Nazism, falling foul of the EUMC Working Definition on Anti-Semitism, but has gone as far as to insist that Israel’s actions have been “more loathsome” than the Holocaust."

Article on PA antisemitism cites PMW documentation

"The insults hurled at the Jewish people are not limited to extremists within the Muslim world: The Palestinian Authority uses disgusting language in the Palestinian media, which is under its control, to insult the Jewish people. A Palestinian Authority youth magazine recently published a young Palestinian woman's account of a dream she had in which Hitler tells her: 'Yes, I murdered them [Jews] so that you all will know that they are a nation that spreads worldwide destruction.' Palestinian Authority television describes Jewish prayer conducted at the Western Wall as 'a sin and filth.' [...] All these instances are documented by the Israeli NGO Palestinian Media Watch."

PMW exposes Abbas statements accusing Israel of attempting to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque

"As Palestinian Media Watch reported, Abbas told the official WAFA news agency and the daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida that Israel’s 'purpose is to achieve its black goals: Destroying Al-Aqsa Mosque, building the ‘alleged Temple,’ taking over the Muslim and Christian holy sites, and destroying Jerusalem’s institutions in order to empty it, uproot its residents, and continue its occupation and Judaization.'"

PMW exposes PA antisemitism, one of the major obstacles to peace

"An organisation named Palestinian Media Watch does an outstanding job of bringing attention to what the PA and related organisations are saying in Arabic, as opposed to the usually more temperate comments made in English for the world outside the Middle East... An astonishing part of PA ideology is the constant use of the notoriously forged document of a century ago, the so-called Protocols of the Elders of Zion. For the PA, this is presented as proof that Jews are running an international conspiracy to conquer and divide the world and to portray Jews and Israelis as inherently evil. The moderator at a Fatah ceremony refers to 'our war with the descendants of apes and pigs.'" [...] Distressingly crude, racist caricatures of Jews/Israelis are published with PA approval."

Article about PA PM Fayyad cites PMW research about PA salaries for terrorists

"Such terrorists were placed on the official PA payroll in 2003, when a law was enacted granting anyone imprisoned for fighting against “the Israeli Occupation” a monthly salary... As Palestinian Media Watch has pointed out, the PA leaders, among them Fayyad, do not award regular criminals, such as car thieves, such payments. No, the money is earmarked exclusively for Jew-killers."

World Tribune on PMW report about Palestinian honor killings

"The Palestinian Authority has reported an increase in the killing of Arab women by their relatives in the West Bank. Officials have reported a campaign to influence Palestinians to oppose so-called honor killings, the targeting of women accused of sexual misbehavior, according to a special report released by Palestinian Media Watch."

Israeli government releases Incitement Index Report

"The [Israeli incitement] index tracks public statements by Palestinian Authority officials, their activities and publications released by institutions and organizations controlled by the authority. It monitors explicit incitement to violence, encouragement of an atmosphere of violence and terror, incitement to hatred and demonization of Israel, and non-facilitation of positive ties with Israel (sources supplied in large part by PMW)."

PMW supplied material for Israeli report on PA incitement

"[Israeli Strategic Affairs Ministry director-general] Kuperwasser provided the ministers with abundant examples of Palestinian incitement culled – with the help of the Palestinian Media Watch – from Palestinian television, newspapers and textbooks [virtually all the examples in the PMO report were from PMW]."

Israeli government releases report on PA incitement with many examples supplied by PMW

"The [Israeli] Strategic Affairs Ministry distributed a report to Israeli journalists that accuses the PA of perpetuating the conflict 'through incitement to hate, promotion of an ethos of violence and struggle, and non-development of a culture of peace.' The document lists various examples ostensibly proving that the PA demonizes Israel and the Jewish people and negates the principle of peace (supplied to PMO by PMW)."

JPost on PA opposition to moment of silence at the 2012 Olympics, exposed by PMW

"There’s just no limit to how common sense can be twisted with a few syrupy sentences. Take for example Jibril Rajoub’s letter of thanks to International Olympics Committee president Jacques Rogge for nixing a minute’s silence to commemorate the Israeli athletes slain by Fatah terrorists 40 years ago at the Munich Olympics (reported by PMW)."

Death is a prominent part of Palestinian culture, as documented by PMW

"The PA continues to ... glorify suicide bombers and name schools, camps and sporting events after terrorists. For example, Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) listed more than a dozen West Bank institutions in 2010 that are named for Dalal Mughrabi, who led a team that hijacked a bus packed with tourists in 1978, killing 37 people – 12 of them children – as the terrorists shot passengers and lobbed grenades at passing cars in what is known as the Coastal Road Massacre, one of the worst terrorist attacks in Israel’s history."

PMW documentation reveals PA violence promotion and demonization

"...The PA takes the arts very seriously. Let’s take a look at some examples, provided and translated by Palestinian Media Watch. One televised exhibit and interview with artist Abd Al-Hai Msallam shows a painting of 'the Gaza massacre.' In the painting, we can see one large ogre impaling children on his bayonet and eating them, while two smaller ogres eat dead children. All three ogres are wearing kippot with stars of David on them."

Ha'aretz on the PA's rejection of a minute of silence for Munich Olympics massacre, exposed by PMW

"[As documented by PMW], Palestinian Authority and Fatah officials are referring, again and again, to the terrorist Dalal Mughrabi as a hero, a freedom fighter. Mughrabi took part in the 1978 attack on Israel's coast road (connecting Tel Aviv and Haifa), killing 37 Israelis, 12 of them children. Over and over, the officials are including Lod, Ramle and Haifa as a part of the Palestinian land and are misleading their people that one day they will return to those cities as part of their right of return [also reported by PMW]."

The Commentator on PMW report - Minute of silence for Olympic victims would be racism, says the PA

"As PMW points out, the slaughter in Munich is not referred to by Palestinian officials as a "massacre" at all. They call it the "Munich Operation." The perpetrators are not called criminals or terrorists, they’re considered heroes. According to PMW, "The murder of the 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics is presented as a highlight of Palestinian "operations" and one of their great accomplishments. In 2010, the official PA daily referred to the Olympic massacre as a "shining station" and its planner was called a “star who sparkled... at the sports stadium in Munich.““

PA incitement to hatred documented by PMW precludes the possibility for peace

"The latest evidence [of PA Jew hatred] comes from this July 13, 2012, presentation on PA TV (translated by the respected Palestinian Media Watch) that features artist Abd Al-Hai Msallam and his pictorial takeproudly intended for all ageson an unspecified 'Gaza massacre.' The lurid painting depicts a reptilian–headed Israeli soldier devouring a Palestinian boy while he impales a Palestinian girl on his bayonet. This monster wears a skullcap with a Star of David, as do two baby monsters shown eating a pile of dead Palestinian children."

Jewish Journal lauds PMW's book "Deception: Betraying the Peace Process"

"The organization he [Itamar Marcus] heads, Palestinian Media Watch, has been monitoring Palestinian media and digging out gems of hate and violence since 1996. Marcus has been making his case in Parliaments and on the media around the world; 'Deception' is his latest cry... 'Deception: Betraying the Peace Process' is the latest evidence that hatred towards the Jews and subsequently the 'Zionists' was, and still is the problem in the Middle East; Anyone who wonders in frustration how come there’s still no peace over there should look no further."

PA ceremony celebrating dead terrorists handed over by Israel is no surprise - PMW documents frequent instances of PA terror glorification

"The monitoring organization Palestinian Media Watch documents almost daily incidents in which PA officials, the PA-controlled media, or PA-funded organizations glorify anti-Israel terrorism, reject Israel's right to exist, or deny the Jews' historic connection to the Land of Israel."

JPost on PMW report about official PA terminology guide, which teaches Palestinians to use terms that delegitmize Israel

"The Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) issued a release Tuesday highlighting the existence on the PA Ministry of Information website of this guide for Palestinian politically correct terms. According to the PMW, this guideline – a book called Terminology in Media, Culture and Politics – provides a valuable peephole into the Palestinian Authority’s refusal to deny legitimacy to the Jewish state."

Israel Hayom article cites PMW material - Puppet show for Palestinian kids motivates violence against Israel

"Those who think this kind of indoctrination [to violence] goes on in Gaza, where terrorists reign, but is not characteristic of the “moderate” Palestinian Authority in the West Bank ought to think again. Though examples abound – all of which can be obtained from Palestinian Media Watch – a recent gem is worth noting. A Palestinian NGO intent on educating children about the evils of cigarette smoking recently put on a puppet show in east Jerusalem. In it, one puppet said, '... Jerusalem doesn't need youths who hold cigarettes. It needs men who hold machine guns, not cigarettes.'"

The Atlantic reports on PMW video of Palestinian NGO teaching children to replace cigarettes with machine guns

Jeffrey Goldberg of "The Atlantic" links to a video exposed by PMW showing a Palestinian NGO teaching children to replace cigarettes with machine guns, to fight the Jews of Jerusalem.

Daily Mail article calls for EU to cut funding of the PA, based on PMW documentation

"Now, courtesy of Palestinian Media Watch, we discover that – far worse - the EU is helping to fund pro-suicide bomber propaganda. Earlier this month, Israel transferred the bodies of 91 terrorists, including suicide bombers, to the Palestinian Authority. A TV program for youth, called Speak Up, then glorified the 91 terrorists as: ‘More honoured than all of us... They are the greatest role models for us.'"

Russia Today reports on PMW bulletin: Puppet show teaches Palestinian kids to carry machine guns

"[As PMW reported,] a UN-funded Palestinian NGO has performed a puppet show for children in East Jerusalem. The message: put down the cigarette and pick up a machine gun to fight the Jewish enemy."

Jewish Press on PMW bulletin: Palestinian NGO glorifies terrorists whose bodies were returned by Israel to the PA

"Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) reported that in the wake of Israel’s transferal last week of the remains of 91 terrorists to the PA, PA TV used its youth programming as a platform to lionize the terrorists as 'the greatest role models.' PMW reported that the program, Speak Up, is 'co-produced by PA TV and PYALARA,' a youth-focused NGO funded in part by the EU."

Ynet article on PMW findings: Hamas and the PA teach the same message - Israel has no right to exist

"Itamar Marcus, founder and director of the Palestinian Media Watch research center, does not draw a distinction between Hamas educators and the Palestinian Authority. 'Unfortunately, these things are routine,' Marcus said. 'There are nuances of differences between the Hamas and Fatah programs, but the messages are the same – Israel has no right to exist or simply doesn't exist.'"

PA glorification of terror (exposed by PMW) doesn't stop the UN and UNESCO from continuing to fund the PA

"Itamar Marcus and the folks at Palestinian Media Watch do what every single diplomat and foreign ministry engaging or funding the Palestinian Authority (PA) should: Watch Palestinian television to see what the PA is saying. Today, they release two shockers."

The Washington Times on PMW report: UN-funded Palestinian NGO teaches kids replace cigarettes with guns

"[PMW reported that] a Palestinian NGO, the Burj Luq-Luq Social Center Society organization, performed a puppet show for children in East Jerusalem to promote non-smoking. The educational message delivered by the puppets instructed children to replace cigarettes with machine guns."

Critique of Australian aid to the PA, citing PMW material

"An even cursory look at the online files of the Palestinian Media Watch shows the extent of the problem. The region's broadcasters and newspapers make celebrities of suicide bombers, the mostly young "martyrs" sent to crowded streets to claim as many innocents as they can. Depending on how "successful" their mission, the terrorists' names may adorn a Palestinian street, a sports event, or even a school. The Palestinian Authority shows little concern that these killers are turned into role models that may inspire others."

PA supports and teaches glorification of terror - PMW documentation cited as evidence

"According to the respected Palestinian Media Watch, which monitors PA incitement and anti-Semitism, only two weeks ago on the anniversary of the founding of the modern State of Israel, an op-ed published in the official PA daily reiterated the PA's denial of Israel's right to exist and its hope and expectation for Israel's destruction. Meanwhile in March this year, at an event attended by three PA ministers, Abbas' Minister of Social Affairs, Majida Al-Masri, stated a unity deal with Hamas was needed in order to focus Palestinian efforts on the destruction of Israel, calling on Palestinians 'to turn to the struggle for the liberation of Palestine -- all of Palestine.' Sadly, one need not look too wide, or far back, for more such examples."

Op-ed compares PA ideology to Nazism citing PMW material

"Take the reports released in the last week by the heroic Palestinian Media Watch, the monitor group founded by Itamar Marcus and which should be honored with a Nobel Peace Prize. In a PA TV’s children's program, a young girl says that Christians and Jews are “inferior” to Muslims, while the official PA daily was proclaiming Israel’s destruction: 'We remember you, all of Palestine... until we return to you, oh Haifa, Acre, and Jaffa... and all the temporary ones (Israelis) will go away... May their (Israeli) independence collapse, and may Palestine come back to life.' Translation: We would like to turn the Mediterranean Sea red with Jewish blood.

PA celebrates getting back bodies of terrorists from Israel - Terror glorification is PA policy, as documented by PMW

"The PA frequently glorifies suicide bombers while delegitimizing Israel's right to exist, according to Palestinian Media Watch. On May 2, the Palestinian government hosted a soccer tournament for al-Quds University in Abu Dis, naming teams after famous terrorists. A May 15 op-ed in the PA's official daily called Israel's founding "the greatest theft in history" and continued with anticipation of Israel's destruction. PA TV also frequently broadcasts programs and music videos calling for attacks against Israel."

Critique of US funding to the PA, citing PMW material

"In the May 9, 2012 newsletter of the Palestinian Media Watch, one learns the following: 'The Palestinian leaders that Israel is supposed to negotiate with have once again honored terrorist Dalal Mughrabi. Thus, the Palestinian Authority "practice of honoring Dalal Mughrabi and presenting her as a role model for youth continues. In 1978, a group of terrorists led by Dalal Mughrabi sailed from Lebanon to Israel to carry out a terror attack. They hijacked a bus and killed 37 Israeli civilians.'"

US resumption of aid to the PA is based on false information - PMW's Itamar Marcus reports on Capitol Hill

"[PMW's Itamar] Marcus told a crowd of congressional staffers and other observers Friday during a presentation on Capitol Hill... "Someone has to get the proper information to the White House” because it is “releasing $192 million based on false information.' 'The Palestinian Authority is in total violation of the principles detailed by the White House, he noted, before launching into a presentation outlining the multiple ways in which the P.A. teaches its youth to hate Israel and become violent terrorists intent on eliminating the Jewish state."

JPost report on Itamar Marcus of Palestinian Media Watch

"Now, [PMW director] Marcus is concerned about the effect that the teaching of hatred and demonization will have on the ability to produce a peaceful outcome with the PA. Given the level of hate indoctrination, success—not only in negotiation, but actualization—remains challenging, he said... 'The only way to reverse the down trend in acceptance of Israel,' Marcus said, if for Palestinians to 'drop the lies—the planned delegitimization conducted by the PA, and replace it with truth.'

PA Nakba narrative views all of Israel as illegitimate, as documented by PMW

"As Palestine Media Watch notes in their survey of official Palestinian Authority programs, the point about the Nakba narrative is that it draws no distinction between the pre- and post-1967 borders. That means the Jewish presence within the internationally recognized borders of the State of Israel is treated as just as illegitimate as that of the settlers in the territories who we are constantly told are the main obstacle to peace."

The PA, unlike Israel, has failed to work toward peace

"For his part, Abbas is incapable, or worse, unwilling, to prepare his people for peace. Official Palestinian Authority maps of “Palestine” include all of Israel. Abbas rejects three millennia of Jewish history in Jerusalem, only days ago saying Israel seeks to “create an artificial heritage with a Jewish spirit at the expense of its true and authentic [identity] as an Arab, Islamic and Christian city,” reports the Palestinian Media Watch."

US resumption of funds to the PA is misinformed - PMW documentation proves the PA hasn't renounced violence

"Itamar Marcus of Palestinian Media Watch has been keeping the Obama administration regularly informed about the constant and steady diet of incitement to hate and to kill the Israeli, the Christian and the Jew; the constant campaign in P.A. sponsored 'public service' advertisements and in the textbooks to reclaim all of Israel as 'Palestine,' the glorification and ennoblement of suicide bombers and martyrs and the exhortation for children to follow along in that 'noble' path."

Commentator article criticizes British funding of PA incitement

"The [UK] Minister [of State] and his officials cannot be unaware that Palestinian TV often broadcasts programmes which lionise terrorism, which encourage and educate young Palestinians to believe that cities such as Haifa and Acre are Palestinian, and demonise Jews in general Israeli Jews in particular. Such programmes abound and are easily accessible thanks to the work of organisations such as MEMRI and Palestinian Media Watch. Only last week, Palestinian Media Watch exposed a horrible example from Palestinian TV, showing a children’s programme in which the adult TV presenters shouted, 'Bravo!' as a small child recited a poem in which she described Israel as 'Satan with a tail.' This is a clear breach of the conditions under which UK taxpayers fund Palestinian TV."

JPost quotes PA schoolbooks translated by PMW in article about Jew-hatred in Arab world

"According to a translation provided by Palestinian Media Watch, the Palestinian Authority’s Arabic language matriculation examinations for high school students include questions such as 'Punctuate the underlined phrase: Do not view the occupier as human.' And 'Punctuate the underlined phrase: We shall die in order that our land may live.'"

PA condemns murders in France while PA incitement continues unabated

"Worst of all, tributes to terrorists convicted of mass murder have become almost routine in official PA media and ceremonies. Numerous examples are documented... by the NGO Palestinian Media Watch."

Israeli parliament reprimands MP Tibi for speech exposed by PMW

"'There is no greater source of praise' than martyrdom, Tibi is shown saying, in a video shot at a Palestinian Authority event honoring Palestinian 'martyrs' that was released by NGO Palestinian Media Watch in January."

Israeli parliament reprimands MP Tibi for speech that PMW exposed

The Knesset Ethics Committee reprimanded MK Ahmed Tibi (UAL-Ta’al) on Monday for giving a speech in which he praised Palestinian 'martyrs.' [...] In a video released by NGO Palestinian Media Watch in January and shot at a Palestinian Authority event honoring Palestinian martyrs, Tibi is shown saying that 'there is no greater source of praise' than martyrdom."

Cuts in PA aid money are justified as long as PA incitement continues

"Palestinian Media Watch, an Israeli research organization, monitors and translates the near-daily programming that undermines coexistence and urges a renewal of terror. For example, PA TV aired a music video honoring Dalal al Mughrabi, the terrorist who masterminded the 1978 Tel Aviv Coastal Road Massacre in which 25 adults and 13 children were killed."

US President Obama did not respond to PA Mufti hate speech, exposed by PMW

"A video of the rally, circulated by Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), showed the rally’s moderator introducing the mufti by saying: 'Our war with the descendants of the apes and pigs [i.e. Jews] is a war of religion and faith. Long live Fatah!' ... Vitriolic and incendiary rhetoric by Muslim religious leaders against Jews and Israel is certainly nothing new in the history of the Arab-Israel conflict; and incitement to terrorism and mass murder by Yasir Arafat and other Palestinian leaders is well documented."

Harvard Conference is a guise to delegitimize Israel

"As abundantly documented by the non-profit Palestinian Media Watch, government controlled schools and media regularly glorify terrorists who murder Jews, encourage children to become suicide bombers, deny the right of Israel to exist, and spread anti-Semitic falsehoods that rival the propaganda of Nazi Germany."

Australian MPs comment on their trip to Israel and on PMW

"Parliamentarian [Bob Baldwin] talked about the organisation run by Itamar Marcus whose Palestinian Media Watch monitors Palestinian media and said that the material talks about 'killing Jews.' Shortly after meeting Marcus, Baldwin met with the Governor of Bethlehem who told him how much he wanted peace. He told the meeting: 'I asked him how do you have a passion for peace when you educate your children to kill the Jewish people.'"

Contrasting Israeli democracy with increasingly "Islamic" Palestine

"What Syrian minister of education (Suleiman) said in 1968 that “the hatred which we indoctrinate into the minds of our children is sacred,” is the most poisonous foundation and seed for the conflict. Palestinian Media Watch / Palwatch (for example) is documenting the constant venemous “schooling,” hateful official media and outrageous inflammatory Mosque sermons by mainstream clerics."

PA Grand Mufti Hussein is comparable to his Nazi predecessor, Hajj Amin Al-Husseini

"Marcus, who launched PMW in 1996, is an American immigrant who served as an Israeli negotiator during the peace process from 1998 to 2000. He may be the most committed, determined man I know. PMW scrutinizes the messages of the Palestinian leadership to see whether it is 'preparing its people for peace or for prolonged confrontation.'"

PA duplicity: One message in English, another in Arabic

"Palestinian Media Watch founder and director Itamar Marcus told OneNewsNow that the Palestinian Authority speaks in two distinct languages -- English, for foreign consumption; and Arabic, for its internal communication. Marcus, one of the foremost authorities on Palestinian ideology and policy, says his watchdog group monitors how high-ranking Palestinian leaders often make statements in Arabic calling for the demise of both Christians and Jews."

Ha'aretz on PMW's book "Deception": PA incitement against Israel remains a huge problem

"Nan Jacques Zilberdik, an analyst at Palestinian Media Watch, explains that on Palestinian TV 'there is no message of peace with Israel.' Zilberdik, who was born in Denmark, recently published, together with PMW Director Itamar Marcus a book called Deception, which monitors Palestinian media from one year beginning May 2012, with an emphasis on television broadcasts. The book's findings, in some cases, trigger concern, in most others nausea. "

Fatah's new Facebook page glorifies terrorists, exposed by PMW

"According to Palestinian Media Watch, a watchdog group that monitors Palestinian media in the West Bank and Gaza, Fatah's inaugural website is stirring up controversy with a poster commemorating members of the terror squad that stormed the Tel-Aviv-based Savoy Hotel in 1975, resulting in the deaths of eight civilian hostages and 3 Israeli soldiers."

The media has a "double standard" against Israel

"Recently on Palestinian state television, viewers could watch praise being bestowed on the convicted perpetrators of the random murder of three members of the Fogel family, in a nighttime attack on their West Bank home... Palestinian Media Watch... has brought many examples of the inflammatory material disseminated by the regime-controlled media to the attention of the outside world."

PA incitement and historical revision comparable to the Soviet Union and modern-day Russia

"Abbas personally and the PA media he controls consistently glorify terrorist atrocity-perpetrators, who with Nazi-like zeal lust after Jewish blood. Palestinian Media Watch, for example, revealed that Abbas’s PA TV broadcast greetings and praise to the Fogel family’s slaughterers, tried and imprisoned in Israel."

Palestinian incitement is the main obstacle to peace

"Thank goodness we have Itamar Marcus and Palestinian Media Watch standing vigil over the constant pronouncements within Palestinian society that are conditioning their people for a future of hate and violence."

PA incitement continues, as in the PA TV program honoring the killers of the Fogel family

"There is nothing the PA won’t do in terms of justifying the murder of Israelis as a heroic deed that should be considered. Here is a case so extreme -- publicized by the praiseworthy Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) that it should reverberate internationally, making people understand the true reason why this conflict cannot be settled."

CBN on PMW's book "Deception: Betraying the Peace Process"

"It's another example of what Itamar Marcus calls mixed messages by the Palestinians. He documents this phenomenon in the book titled, Deception: Betraying the Peace Process. 'The Palestinian Authority gives two messages,' Marcus told CBN News. 'There's the English language message to the media, to negotiators, and there's the Arabic language message to their own people. And often there is no resemblance between those two messages, and that's what this book documents.'"

PA incitement against Israel is Antisemitism

"The NGO Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) highlighted on its website that this week, official PA TV reported from a Fatah celebration in a refugee camp in Lebanon. One part of Fatah’s message was that children are created so that their blood will be “fertilizer” to saturate the land. Apparently, dying for the sake of “Palestine” as an ideal, even for Palestinian children and youth, remains part of Palestinian discourse."

PA Mufti speech calling to kill Jews at the end of days is cause for concern

"Palestinian Media Watch, a watchdog group based in Jerusalem, first called attention to the Sheikh Hussein’s speech. Director, Itamar Marcus pointed out that the hadith quoted by the mufti of Jerusalem is the same one found in the charter of Hamas, the Islamic militant group devoted to Israel’s destruction. Marcus says the mufti’s speech is just part of a growing problem of Palestinian incitement against Jews and Israel."

The PA glorifies the killers of the Fogel family

"Here is a case so extreme—publicized by the praiseworthy Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) that it should reverberate internationally, making people understand the true reason why this conflict cannot be settled. Oh, and it immediately follows PMW’s revelation that the highest-ranking, PA-appointed Palestinian Muslim cleric called for genocide against the Jews. Now, twice in one week, a PA television host praised Hakim Awad, the murderer of the Fogel family "

PA TV program extols Fogel family killers, exposed by PMW

"In the [PA TV] broadcast, Hakim's mother proudly noted her son's part in the slaughter [of 3 members of the Fogel family], and an aunt said her nephew was 'a hero and legend,' according to the Palestinian Media Watch group."

Simon Wiesenthal Center calls on NGOs to denounce the PA for motivating children to die as Martyrs

"In Palestinian Authority TV clips provided by Palestinian Media Watch, celebrations for the 47th anniversary of the Fatah party held in Ramallah and the Ein Al-Hilwe refugee camp in Lebanon declared, 'Our children are our glory and honor, they were created to be fertilizer for the land of Palestine,…' and 'My pure land, I shall saturate you with my blood... redeem you with my life.'"

Israeli TV article the PA encouraging children to die as Martyrs for "Palestine"

"The Palestinian Authority’s Fatah faction... stated, 'Our children are our glory and honor; they were created to be fertilizer for the land of Palestine and our pure land to be saturated with their blood.' The gory message was reported and translated by Palestinian Media Watch."

The PA and Abbas continue incitement, as documented in PMW's new book "Deception"

"Itamar Marcus founded Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) in 1996 as a nonprofit organization to monitor the Palestinian media. Its documentation of Palestinian behavior, including systematically taping official Palestinian TV, became an important source for parliamentarians and serious journalists throughout the world. His briefing of US legislators was a major factor contributing toward the prevailing pro-Israel orientation of Congress and the American people."

The Forward reports on Israeli-Arab member of Israeli Parliament Tibi, after PMW exposed Tibi glorifying Martyrs

"Tibi, who heads the Israeli Arab party Ra’am-Ta’al... was shown on video praising Palestinian “martyrs.” [...] The video, released by Palestinian Media Watch on January 18, was purportedly taken last year at a Ramallah rally for the annual Palestinian Martyrs Day."

PA glorification of terrorists is a major obstacle to peace, as in the recent PA TV program calling the killers of the Fogel family "heroes"

"[An] obstacle to peace that [UN Secretary-General] Ban should confront is the PA’s unabashed glorification of villainous terrorists who murder innocent Israeli civilians. The most recent – and shocking – example, as reported by Palestinian Media Watch, was a show on PA television that praised as “heroes” the murderers of Udi and Ruth Fogel and three of their children – 11-year-old Yoav, four-year-old Elad, and Hadas, a four-month-old baby."

Israeli government uses PMW material to monitor incitement

"Palestinian Media Watch provides mostly professional material on Palestinian incitement in the media and textbooks... The Prime Minister's Bureau confirmed that it is one of several government offices to subscribe to the Palestinian Media Watch e-mail list."

PA TV glorifies killers of Fogel family

"Twice last week, official Palestinian Authority TV broadcast greetings to the murderers of the Fogel family from the relatives of the killers and from the PA TV host, Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), an NGO tracking Palestinian media outlets said in a statement Sunday."

Recent peace talks were accompanied by a wave of incitement in Palestinian media

"The Palestinian Media Watch caught one of the Palestinian Authority’s highest religious officials citing Islamic tradition on PA-TV to say it was the Palestinians’ destiny to kill Jews. Another PA-TV broadcast [exposed by PMW] praised the slaughter of an Israeli family of five last year. No wonder Israelis don’t see a peace partner."

Ynet on PA TV show praising Fogel family murderers

"During a program aired on Palestinian television last week, the aunt of one of the Palestinians who took part in the brutal murder of five members of the Fogel family in the West Bank last march referred to him as a 'hero' and 'legend.' ... The broadcast was reported by Palestinian Media Watch – an Israel-based media watchdog organization."

Netanyahu says PA incitement is undermining peace talks, citing material exposed by PMW

"Palestinian Authority incitement is poisoning the atmosphere and is tantamount to 'confidence destroying measures,' Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told visiting Irish Foreign Minister Eamon Gilmore on Sunday... Speaking before a meeting with Gilmore, Netanyahu cited the [PMW story about] PA’s official television broadcast of a program this week in which the terrorists who murdered five members of the Fogel family in Itamar last March were glorified. The PA television program, he said, portrayed the terrorists as martyrs and heroes, just days after the PA’s mufti in Jerusalem [also exposed by PMW] quoted from a Muslim text calling for the murder of Jews."

Condemnation of PA Mufti's hate speech by Americans for Peace Now was "disingenuous"

"Last week Palestinian Media Watch revealed that the Mufti Muhammad Hussein, top cleric of the Palestinian Authority, had approvingly quoted a hadith calling for the genocide of Jews... That Americans for Peace Now could not bring itself simply to condemn a call for genocide of Jews and leave it at that, is actually what one would expect."

JPost article warns of anti-Israel indoctrination in the Arab world, citing many examples exposed by PMW

"This past December, PMW released a 269-page book called Deception: Betraying the Peace Process detailing systematic hate speech in Arabic by the Palestinian Authority from May 2010 through April 2011 – at cultural events, in leaders’ statements and in educational media, including children’s magazines. Emphasized is the contrast between what the leaders say in Arabic and their peace talk in English to the international media."

Newsmax.com article on PMW after interview with PMW director Itamar Marcus

"Itamar Marcus of Palestinian Media Watch tells Newsmax that American tax dollars are paying the salary of a terrorist who 'just called for the killing of Jews in the name of Islam.' Marcus, the media watchdog’s founder and director, was referring to a video in which Muhammad Ahmad Hussein, the Palestinian Authority’s grand mufti of Jerusalem, 'quoted a hadith that said ‘the resurrection won’t happen until the Muslims fight the Jews and kill them.’ And this, of course, is hate speech.'"

PA Mufti denies calling to kill Jews in speech, as exposed by PMW

"Palestinian Authority Mufti... told attendees at Fatah’s 47th anniversary gathering, that 'killing Jews is necessary for resurrection." Speaking to Israeli Radio, AP and Reuters, Mufti Hussein responded, saying “we are not calling to kill Jews..." Palestinian Media Watch, which has been covering this story closely released a statement on Monday, denying the Mufti’s statement on Israeli radio."

Israeli negotiation gives PA negotiator PMW’s new book Deception at peace talks in Jordan

"During the talks between the Israeli delegation and the PA in Jordan, [Israeli representative] Yitzhak Molcho presented [PA representative] Saeb Erekat with a book detailing acts of incitement being carried out by the PA (i.e., PMW’s Deception)… The book that Molcho gave to Erekat, Deception: Betraying the Peace Process, was published last month by Palestinian Media Watch. It provides hundreds of examples of hate speech, glorification of terrorists and murderers, and other anti-Israel statements from May 2010 to April 2011."

NY Times article mentions PA Mufti hate speech exposed by PMW

"Mr. Netanyahu described the words of the mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Hussein, as “morally heinous” and compared the remarks to those of Haj Amin al-Husseini, the grand mufti of Jerusalem who notoriously aligned himself with Hitler in the 1930s. Palestinian television broadcast the mufti’s comments on Jan. 9 and Palestinian Media Watch, an Israeli monitoring group, drew attention to them on Jan. 15."

President Peres tells Justice Minister to act against PA Mufti, after PMW exposed Mufti's hate speech

The ceremony, which was broadcast on official PA TV, was translated by the Palestinian Media Watch research organization, which presented the translated video on its website."

Essay glorifying Hitler in PA youth mag is the result of problematic PA Holocaust education, or lack thereof

"In mid-December, Palestinian Media Watch brought a troubling fact to the attention of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. One of the recipients of UNESCO’s largesse, the Palestinian Authority-funded youth magazine "Zayzafuna," had glorified Adolf Hitler in an essay appearing in its recent issue."

US aid money used to pay salaries of Palestinian terrorist prisoners

"Research by the non-profit Palestinian Media Watch (“PMW”) found that the PA has a long-established practice of paying stipends to convicted Palestinian terrorists and the surviving relatives of suicide bombers."

Wiesenthal Center, citing PMW, calls for UNESCO to stop funding Palestinian magazine that glorified Hitler

"The PMW report references an essay in the magazine by a teenage Palestinian girl. The girl wrote about meeting Adolf Hitler in a dream, who tells her that he killed the Jews 'so you would all know that they are a nation who spreads destruction all over the world.' ... PMW head Itamar Marcus said his organization welcomes the Wiesenthal Center’s call to UNESCO to stop funding the magazine 'Zayafuna.' 'UNESCO’s continued funding of a hate magazine makes them a participant in the hate promotion it disseminates,' Marcus said."

NY Times review of PMW's book "Deception: Betraying the Peace Process"

"A new book by an Israeli watchdog group catalogs dozens of examples of messages broadcast by the Palestinian Authority for its domestic audience that would seem at odds with the pursuit of peace and a two-state solution. Instead, the authors say, their findings show a pattern of non-recognition of Israel’s right to exist, demonization of Israel and promotion of violence... The book goes to the heart of this debate. Its authors — Itamar Marcus, the founder and director of the privately financed Palestinian Media Watch, and an analyst from the group, Nan Jacques Zilberdik — called their book 'Deception: Betraying the Peace Process.' 'There is no preparation for living with Israel as neighbors,' Ms. Jacques Zilberdik said. 'Instead, we see the opposite.'" "

PMW op-ed in JPost about PA duplicity and Gingrich's remarks criticizing the PA

"When the American congressional candidates criticized the PA for promoting terror among Palestinians they were absolutely correct. When they accused the PA of denying Israel's right to exist they were merely exposing authentic PA ideology. The time is approaching for the PA to make some hard choices. Is it going to change and take the path of peace or is it going to continue on the path of deception?"

JPost on US Republican Presidential candidates and their support for Israel

"The book [Deception: Betraying the Peace Process], launched at the beginning of the month in a New York event attended by Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel and Advancing Human Rights founder Bob Bernstein, analyzes a year’s worth of cultural, educational and general media resources, in which the Fatah-led PA promoted messages of hate against Israel. Authors Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik of Palestinian Media Watch discovered that even in mundane contexts, such as the sports pages in official PA newspapers or in educational programs for children, Israel is routinely referred to as 'the homeland that is occupied,' not just on the West Bank but within the Green Line. Israelis policies are regularly demonized, Israelis are compared to Nazis, and Palestinian terrorists – alive and dead – are treated as national heroes."

Israeli daily Ma'ariv on PMW's new book "Deception: Betraying the Peace Process"

"Two researchers, Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik from Palestinian Media Watch, recently published the book "Deception," which presents the systematic incitement against Israel and the Jews under the auspices of the Palestinian Authority... The book "Deception" is full of sickening examples – most from recent years; the great majority of them from the period of tenure of the most moderate pair – Mahmoud Abbas and Salam Fayyad."

Senator Bilyk said that the concept of brainwashing children from the cradle 'planted seeds of war' and was 'child abuse.'"

Commentary Magazine echoes PMW report: PA views US aid as an "entitlement"

"Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik over at Palestinian Media Watch show how, after months of belittling the hundreds of millions of dollars provided to them by the U.S. State Department and, by extension, American taxpayers, now say they should receive such money regardless whether the Palestinians keep their commitments. "

Human rights groups continue to ignore Arab and Palestinian hate speech against Israel

"Those who would accept the position Abbas has taken, even as recently as Friday, when he submitted to the United Nations an application for statehood, should be aware of the work of Palestinian Media Watch. The group, an Israeli research institute focused on monitoring the messages of all aspects of Palestinian media, has detailed some of the deception of the Palestinian Authority, even during moments of peace talks."

Upcoming UN statehood vote and continued PA incitment - bad for the PA

"The Palestinians [...] have continued their ugly history of incitement against the Jewish state. Consider that PA TV, the PA's official television station, last month broadcast from the home of the planner of the infamous 2001 Sbarro Pizza suicide bombing… During the show, according to a translation provided by Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), 'best wishes of loyalty' and 'freedom' also were sent to the woman who drove the suicide bomber to the location."

Jewish Week story on PMW

The terrorist salaries were first reported earlier in the summer in Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, an official newspaper of the Palestinian Authority. But it was not until the Palestinian Media Watch — an Israeli group that monitors, translates and publicizes the PA’s official print and broadcast media — brought this to the attention of the Israeli media and U.S. legislators that anyone knew of it.

Israel behind Eilat terror attack, according to Egyptian and PA media

British MP criticizes British aid to the PA following PMW report on PA salaries to prisoners

"'Every terrorist in prison, including those whose acts led to the deaths of Israeli civilians, are on the PA payroll,' said Itamar Marcus, of Palestinian Media Watch. [...] Tory MP Philip Davies said the payments were 'ludicrous.' He added: 'People think overseas aid is to try to alleviate terrible poverty in places where they can't afford to look after themselves. But it’s being put to these kind of purposes.'"

PMW report on PA salaries to terrorists gets US Jewish groups to pressure Congress to stop aid for the PA

"National president of the Zionist Organization of America, told The Jerusalem Post on Wednesday that the organization is conducting conversations with US congressmen through which they are seeking to end US aid to the PA in light of [...] a recent report from Israeli lobbying group Palestinian Media Watch, which states the PA is paying salaries to 5,500 Palestinian prisoners convicted of terrorist offenses, totaling $5.2 million a month."

[...] Itamar Marcus, the director of Palestinian Media Watch, presented the report to members of the Republican Israel Caucus last week in an effort to persuade U.S. lawmakers to cut the funds off to the PA."

"Palestinian Media Watch presented a special report to members of the Republican Israel Caucus at the Congress on Tuesday, titled 'Palestinian Authority glorification of terrorists and paying salaries to terrorists with US money.' According to the report, the Palestinian Authority pays monthly salaries to 5,500 prisoners in Israeli prisons, including terrorists - taking the money from its general budget."

PMW report presented to congressmen: PA pays terrorists salaries with US money

"The Palestinian Authority spends more than $5 million a month paying salaries to terrorists sitting in Israeli prisons, according to a Palestinian Media Watch report presented to congressmen in Washington on Tuesday. According to the report, written by Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik, such payments contravene US law, which prohibits funding of any person who “engages in, or has engaged in terrorist activity."

"The report from Palestinian Media Watch, an Israeli-based organization that monitors the Palestinian media and culture, said that more than 5,500 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails are getting salaries from the PA."

JPost article uses PMW research to illustrate PA promotion of terror

"Here’s an example of what can be expected: When you arrive at the Palestine in the Eyes of the Children of Martyrs (Shahids) Summer Camp, you are assigned to one of four groups, as Palestinian Media Watch reports... The real message being sent to Palestinians is not, 'We can get an independent state and raise living standards,' but rather, 'We can kill more Israelis than Hamas can.'"

PMW cited in article about the closing of YIISA at Yale University

"Take the oft-cited example of YIISA’s bias, the paper delivered to its 2010 conference by Itamar Marcus, the director of the Israeli monitoring organization Palestinian Media Watch. Titled “The Central Role of Palestinian Antisemitism in Creating the Palestinian Identity,” the paper propelled YIISA into the headlines after it sent Maen Areikat, the PLO’s Washington representative, into an apoplectic rage."

PMW cited in article denouncing Palestinian narrative on the establishment of Israel

"Zionists stole Palestinian land: that's the mantra both the Palestinian Authority and Hamas teach their children and propagate in their media. This claim has vast importance, as Palestinian Media Watch explains: 'Presenting the creation of the [Israeli] state as an act of theft and its continued existence as a historical injustice serves as the basis for the PA's non-recognition of Israel's right to exist.'"

Commentary Magazine reports on Palestinian distortion of Jewish history, exposed by PMW

"According to one Palestinian 'researcher,' the source for the phrase 'If I Forget Thee, O Jerusalem,' was not the Bible but a Frankish Crusader. [...] According to Dr. Hayel Sanduqa, the phrase was 'borrowed by the Zionist movement, which falsified it in the name of Zionism.' Sanduqa’s comments were discovered by the Palestinian Media Watch group"

Telegraph cites PMW report to show Abbas lied to President Obama about PA incitement

"The NGO Palestinian Media Watch monitors the PA’s television channel and its newspaper, Al Hayat, Al Jadeeda. It has made up a report of what it found in the months of May and June, during the so-called “proximity talks” while the state department assured the world the PA was “taking steps” to soften its tone. And the amount of incitement to hatred and violence that was published, broadcast, or encouraged by the PA during the months of May and June alone is breathtaking."

Deputy Prime Minister Ayalon cites PMW in Ynet op-ed

"Palestinian maps make no mention of Israel, and the PMW website, which monitors the Palestinian media, shows us the Palestinian leadership, headed by Abbas, beaming while a talented singer promises that Haifa and other areas within Israel will again be part of Palestine."

Commentary Magazine on PA paying terrorists salaries

"Last week, Palestinian Media Watch reported on a new PA law to grant a monthly salary plus various benefits to any Palestinian or Israeli Arab imprisoned in Israel on terrorism charges... Israel ought to state clearly that it can’t possibly negotiate with an entity that pays people to murder its citizens. And its allies in Congress ought to stop financing these murders by means of American aid to the PA."

JPost front page story on PMW's report about PA paying salaries to terrorists in prison

A new Palestinian Authority law grants a monthly salary to all Palestinians and Israeli-Arabs imprisoned in Israel for terrorism, Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) says in a report being released on Friday.

Israeli daily Ma'ariv reports on PMW's frequent exposure of PA incitement

"Itamar Marcus’s organization, Palestinian Media Watch, translates these materials [instances of PA incitement to hatred and violence] and dispatches them regularly to anyone who is interested. And since the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the number one issue on our public agenda, the fact that these stories don’t find their way into our headlines is nothing less than scandalous."

PMW warns PA incitement still alive and well in JPost article

"'Calling what goes on in the PA incitement would be understating the problem and its significance; talking about indoctrination, and seeing it as part of the ongoing war against Israel' would be more accurate, [PMW director Itamar] Marcus said on Thursday. Marcus noted examples such as the fact that Abbas recently awarded $2,000 to the family of a terrorist who attacked IDF soldiers, and that a week before the Itamar killings, the PA-controlled television channel honored two people sitting in prisons, and referred to them as heroes – the woman who drove a suicide bomber to the Sbarro restaurant in Jerusalem, and the man who drove a suicide bomber to the capital’s Pat junction."

Chicago Sun Times cites PMW in article about PA incitement as the biggest obstacle to peace

"When Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cited the flow of hate in Palestinian schools and media, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas responded that the territory he rules is the “only place in the Arab and Muslim world” where the government pre-approves sermons in mosques. Maybe so, but that misses the point of the larger problem so well documented by the Palestinian Media Watch organization."

JPost editorial about Fogel family massacre uses PMW material to highlight problem of PA terror glorification

"This incomplete list [of instances of Palestinian support for terror], which can be substantially supplemented by Palestinian Media Watch’s regular reports, brings us closer to understanding how Palestinian terrorists could bring themselves to perpetrate such a despicable act against the Fogel family."

Israeli TV channel 1 TV interview with PMW's Itamar Marcus

Interviewer: “When the Prime Minister talks about incitement – you actually work quite extensively with the Prime Minister’s office; is that correct?” Itamar Marcus: “That is correct.” Interviewer: “You are actually directing them to the examples of incitement. Tell us a bit about what you discover…”

Israel Journal of Foreign Affairs article on Palestinian incitement cites PMW

"Persistent reports based primarily on information from Palestinian Media Watch describe the pervasiveness and intensity of Palestinian incitement against Israel. Such acts include the naming of public buildings, sports facilities, and streets after Palestinian terrorists who have murdered Israeli civilians."

Israeli Channel 10 lauds PMW: PMW on the front lines on behalf of the whole country

Israeli TV channel 10 did an in depth story on PMW and its importance internationally. The following is the transcript of Israeli TV news.

JPost on PMW translation of Muslim Brotherhood book

A translation released Tuesday of a 1995 book by the [Muslim Brotherhood] movement's fifth official leader sheds light on just how Egypt's Brotherhood views itself and its mission. Jihad is the Way is the last of a five-volume work, The Laws of Da'wa by Mustafa Mashhur, who headed the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt from 1996-2002. The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday saw excerpts of the text, compiled by Palestinian Media Watch founder Itamar Marcus and analyst Nan Jacques Zilberdik. They detail the Brotherhood's objectives of advancing the global conquest of Islam and reestablishing the Islamic Caliphate, the public and private duties of jihad and the struggle Muslims must wage against Israel.

Spanish Ambassador says PA TV committed fraud in PA TV ad to boycott Israel

A "public service" advertisement on Palestinian television calling for the boycott of Israeli goods is not being paid for by Spanish tax payers' euros, Spanish Ambassador Alvar Iranzo told The Jerusalem Post Wednesday. Iranzo was responding to a video posted Tuesday by the Palestinian Media Watch organization showing the ad, which has been running for the last week on PA TV.

Spanish government denies knowledge of its funding of a PA TV ad to boycott Israel

"This broadcast, brought to us by Palestinian Media Watch , targets all Israeli products. It shows Osem products, drawing a clear connection between the product and killing and firing. That is [also] the message at the end of the broadcast. (The text displayed reads: "Don't prolong the occupation's life upon our land.")

Has the Palestinian Authority entered the peace process with Israel at all?

"We are told that the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank just wants peace with Israel and the establishment of a Palestinian state covering the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. [...] There are certainly several signs that this is not the case. [...] The question is whether the Palestinian Authority has entered the peace process with Israel at all, given the fact that the Palestinians' own propaganda machine, their own TV station and their own newspaper are telling [the Palestinian] citizens that cities such as Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jaffa [all Israeli territory] are Palestinian?

YouTube reopens PMW video channel

"The pro-Israel Palestinian Media Watch, has had its YouTube account reopened after the video-sharing website closed it for four days for allegedly propagating hate speech."

PA cracked down on incitement in sermons, but incitement remains prevalent

"One source for Kuperwasser’s index are reports put out by Palestinian Media Watch, a group that monitors closely the Palestinian press in search for incitement. Itamar Marcus, the group’s founder and director, believes the Palestinian Authority deserves no credit for its action on the mosques. “The problem is not mosques, it is the glorification of terror,” he said. His Palestinian Media Watch reports are full of examples to prove his point..."

JPost reports on YouTube's shut down of PMW video channel

"When I read on Sunday that after receiving complaints from users, YouTube had removed from its servers a video channel run by an Israeli NGO for repeatedly airing hate speech, I thought there hardly existed a more perfect example of 'shooting the messenger.'"

JPost on YouTube's removal of PMW's video channel

"The video-sharing website YouTube removed from its servers Sunday a video channel operated by Israeli NGO Palestinian Media Watch for severe violations of YouTube’s community guidelines. The channel, which featured videos of Palestinian incitement against Jews and Israelis, posted by the group in order to expose Arab media undercurrents, was removed for repeatedly airing hate speech."

JPost on YouTube reactivation of PMW's YouTube channel

"In response to criticism and outrage YouTube reactivated the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) account on Monday."

The Spectator condemns YouTube shut down of PMW video channel

"Palestinian Media Watch does heroic work bringing to light the appalling incitement to mass murder and hatred of Jews and Israelis often transmitted by Palestinian Authority-controlled and Hamas-controlled media. Much of its work consists of simply translating and disseminating Palestinian media broadcasts, which are often deeply shocking in their medieval-style bigotry towards, and open incitement to violence and murder of, Israelis and Jews."

Expert on Palestinian media examines cultural peace barriers

"The latest effort to negotiate a peace plan in the Middle East will likely be as futile as past efforts until the Palestinian Authority abandons its hate education and adopts peace education, according to Itamar Marcus, the director of Palestinian Media Watch."

Obama hinders efforts toward Mideast peace

"Palestinians still speak of peace in English and deny Israel’s right to exist in Arabic. The group Palestinian Media Watch meticulously documents what airs on Palestinian Authority Television."

Israeli media watchdog in Westport Nov. 21

"Arafat was presenting one face to the world - Marcus recalls the leader being photographed kissing babies - "but to his own people, from children on up, he was promoting and glorifying violence, preaching jihad, demonizing Jews and Israelis," he says. "That was the biggest focus: hatred and demonization.'"

The Atlantic reports on PMW bulletin about the PA daily promoting coexistence

"Palestinian Media Watch reports that a group of settler rabbis visited a mosque that had been the target of an arson attack by other settlers, in order to make amends. What is notable about this visit is not only that it happened at all, but that the Palestinian media covered it in a very positive way."

Killing of Israelis must be timed just right, says the PA

When Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas recently spoke in Washington and publicly condemned the killings of four Israelis by Hamas terrorists near Hebron, it generated a feeling of cautious optimism. [...] Unfortunately, an examination of the internal PA responses to the attack, when not under the watchful eyes of Barack Obama, Binyamin Netanyahu and the world media, quickly erased hope that the PA had distanced itself from terror. A comparison by Palestinian Media Watch (www.palwatch.org) of the PA response to the murders of four Israeli civilians to their reaction to the deaths during the flotilla confrontations, emphasizes that the PA’s response to Hamas’s attack was not a condemnation of terror or violence at all.

Deputy FM Ayalon: PA ministers inciting, encouraging terror

Deputy Foreign Minister Ayalon (Israel Beiteinu) complained in a press release on Thursday that a Palestinian Authority minister had visited the families of suicide bombers while PA President Mahmoud Abbas was meeting with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

Satellite hatred

Palestinian Media Watch keeps a constant eye on the Palestinian media and monitors specific programs aimed at children. “… a children’s program, Tomorrow's Pioneers, on Al-Aqsa TV, where the host Saraa and the bear Nassur repeatedly call to ‘slaughter the Jews’ and talk about how Palestinian children must liberate the ‘occupied Palestinian cities’, after which they mention Israeli cities such as Haifa, Acre and Jaffa,” says Nan Jacques, spokeswoman for Palestinian Media Watch. She believes that PA TV, which is controlled by the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, in fact features just as much anti-Semitic content as Al-Aqsa TV. “The Palestinian Authority and ruling party, Fatah, is not preparing the Palestinian people for living in peace with Israel,” says Nan Jacques.

JPost reports on PMW Incitement Watch, June 2010

Contrary to the PA's moderate statements to the West, its statements to its people in Arabic continue to delegitimize Israel's existence, deny Israel's right to exist, define the conflict with Israel as a religious war for Allah, promote hatred through demonization, slander and libel, and glorify terror and violence, according to PMW's Itamar Marcus, Nan Jacques Zilberdik and Barbara Crook.

Elliott Abrams quotes PMW research in New York Daily News

Elliot Abrams, a senior advisor on Mideast policy at the National Security Council during the George W. Bush presidency, has written an OpEd in the New York Daily News about the duplicity of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. Abrams, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, documents his argument with examples from recent Palestinian Media Watch bulletins.

Obama has chance to reset U.S.-Israeli priorities

The Palestinian Media Watch, which monitors newspapers, broadcasts and teaching in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, produced an extensive, detailed account of Israel hate emanating from areas controlled by Abbas... On June 21, Palestinian Authority TV rebroadcast a show claiming prominent Israeli cities such as Jaffa, Haifa and Tiberias are Palestinian. Another PA-TV program described Israeli soldiers as "wild animals" and said, "The Jews are our enemies." In late June, a PA-TV game show, "The Stars," solicited answers describing "Palestine" as including all of Israel. In a June 25 sermon, the Palestinian Authority-appointed Mufti, an interpreter of religious law, claimed the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem is threatened by "the enemies of Allah," a term used for Jews.

Israel and the Flotilla: On the Dangers of a Binary View

It is increasingly clear Israel is judged by very different measures and with decreasing objectivity by every actor independent of Israel. Israel herself cannot be objective because she is entrenched in a terrible dilemma. A Hamas that cares not to fill the bellies of those starving in Gaza is also the same agency spending millions of dollars on televised indoctrination designed to manipulate young, plastic minds. See for yourself: go to Palestinian Media Watch. Children, in the prime ages of 5-7 are critically vulnerable to developing attachment figure-like relationships to God. At precisely these ages, they are bombarded with "Hamas Box Office" productions: aspirational propaganda extolling the virtues of suicide bombing as vengeance. Through his work at Palestinian Media Watch, Itamar Marcus has revealed just how institutionalized terror has become in the territories.

Mahmoud Abbas twists the truth, as the Washington press corps idly looks on

On Wednesday PA president Mahmoud Abbas stood before the Washington press corps and the president of the United States, and blatantly twisted the truth. Nobody called him on it. Abbas said, "And I say in front of you, Mr. President, that we have nothing to do with incitement against Israel, and we're not doing that." Yet according to Palestinian Media Watch, which monitors the PA's television channel and its newspaper, Al-Hayat Al-Jadeeda, the amount of incitement to hatred and violence that was published, broadcast, or encouraged by the PA during the months of May and June alone is breathtaking. One can view a clip from PA TV which features zombie-eyed girls of about eight years of age, singing: "I want to carry a machine gun and a rifle." But none of the reporters used their question time to challenge Abbas.

Freedom Flotilla flotsam

Most tellingly, flotilla passengers were seen on Al Jazeera last week [in video released by PMW] chanting, "Khyber, Khyber," a favorite chant of jihadists because it recalls a battle where Muhammad's army is said to have killed large numbers of Jews.

Danish Journalist May 2010

"The other day I was, however, awakened from my slumber and innate indifference to the world's miserable state. It happened during a meeting with an Israeli non-governmental organization called Palestinian Media Watch."

Palestinian landmark names stir controversy

"A report released this week by an Israeli watchdog group, Palestinian Media Watch, presents a litany of public Palestinian places that Israeli and U.S. officials say glorifies murderers and incites hatred, making it more difficult to restart peace talks between the perennially warring sides in the Middle East conflict."

"Borders can be redrawn with one political decision, but hatred is embedded"

"Our [PMW's] goal is to get an accurate picture of the internal Arabic language Palestinian world and especially what Palestinian leadership is saying to their children. We feel that if there is to be peace, it has to start with children and has to be founded on peace education."

The Palestinian Authority Celebrates Terrorists Who Killed Israelis

Along comes Palestinian Media Watch to make our point in spades, publishing today an eye-opening compendium of tributes by the PA to a long list of murderers. Titled "From Terrorists to Role Models: The Palestinian Authority's Institutionalization of Incitement," its summary explains that "The PA's policy of naming schools, summer camps, sporting events, streets and ceremonies after terrorists fundamentally undermines the chance for peace." Written by Itamar Marcus, Nan Jacques Zilberdik, Barbara Crook and the PMW staff, it establishes in painstaking detail PA glorification of some of the most evil individuals in recent years.

Israeli Leaders Prepare to Start Indirect Talks

Mr. Ayalon was speaking at a news conference held by Israel's Foreign Ministry to mark a report documenting a hundred cases of places or events named for people held responsible for deadly acts of terrorism against Israelis. The report was released by Palestinian Media Watch, an Israeli group that monitors the Palestinian news media.

MOWBRAY: Panting after peace

Mr. Obama would be well-advised to comb through the Web site of the invaluable Palestinian Media Watch, which has documented hundreds of examples of violent Islamic indoctrination from both Hamas and Fatah. Simply put, ordinary Palestinians are not ready to accept peaceful coexistence with a Jewish state of Israel. Various polls over the years have shown clear majority support for rocket attacks and suicide bombings, and those who disagree publicly do so on strategic - not moral - grounds. Is a society where no one speaks out against the depravity of brainwashing its children to become mass murderers ready to embrace peace?

Your Pennies at Work: UNICEF Funds Hate TV for Palestinian Kids

Blame Israel First

"Where, I ask, is the Hillary Clinton that stood side by side with Palestinian Media Watch to condemn the incitement of hatred and violence against Jews in Palestinian school textbooks? For his part, David Axelrod could not be moved to call the glorification of Mughrabi an affront, let alone an insult."

A Tale of Two Murderers

The story was in the best tradition of the fallacy about one man's terrorist being another's "freedom fighter." The Times headline reflected this moral ambivalence: "Palestinians Honor Figure Reviled in Israel as a Terrorist." For Palestinians quoted in the piece, including Fatah officials, Mughrabi was a heroine who was "every Palestinian girl," rather than a heartless killer who helped mow down 38 human beings, including 13 children, before being killed herself by Israeli forces. As for this being an isolated incident, as Palestinian Media Watch has reported, the drumbeat of incitement against Israel and the glorification of violence against Jews is unceasing. Indeed, as even the Times notes, "the Palestinians also named two girls' high schools, a computer center, a soccer championship and two summer camps for Ms. Mughrabi in the last two years."

PMW’s reports on naming of square after terrorist lead to PA’s cancelling event

Two months after PMW reported that a square in a Palestinian city was to be named for terrorist Dalal Mughrabi, the PA cancelled event due to international pressure. (March 11, 2010)

Palestinians Honor a Figure Reviled in Israel as a Terrorist

Palestinian Media Watch, an Israeli monitoring group that highlights examples of anti-Israel incitement by Palestinians, has been tracking the plans to name the square for months. The group says that the Palestinians also named two girls high schools, a computer center, a soccer championship and two summer camps for Ms. Mughrabi in the last two years.

Glorifying Terror

On his website, [PMW Director Itamar] Marcus documents the glorification of Mughrabi and other martyrs in the official Palestinian media. He says it reflects the kind of values that permeate Palestinian society. These values of glorifying terror and terrorists are often out of sight of much of the Western media and not visible at photo ops with Palestinian leaders and visiting dignitaries like Vice President Biden. But this kind of glorification of terrorists in Palestinian society helps indoctrinate one more generation of Palestinians into terror. Marcus – who has studied this kind of incitement for more than a decade – believes genuine peace will come when Palestinian society goes through a detoxification of values that glorify terror and terrorists.

Gov't to discuss Palestinian incitement

""One of the biggest problems is the incitement, and how it creates heroes and role models for kids. The naming of the square is a clear message that whoever kills most Israelis is the greatest hero," Marcus said. Marcus said his organization has been in contact with Kuperwasser, the director-general of the Strategic Affairs Ministry, and discussed creating an index that would quantify the incitement."

Another Tack: 'dam butlab dam' - only for some

"As in yesteryear, so in the 21st century, it's axiomatic that Arabs have the right to inflict incalculable harm on Jews, but the Jews' attempts to deflect such blows are evil, outrageous and deserving of merciless punishment."

PM complains about PA security

"Reiterating a theme that the Prime Minister's Office brought up with Washington last week, Netanyahu said that the problem was not only rockets, but an increase in incitement from the PA and its leaders."

Fatah-Controlled TV Promises Elimination of Israel

Ahmadinejad's overlooked message

"As Palestinian Media Watch documented, while Abbas was meeting with US President George W. Post-Oslo Gaza

"The tidy Western view of Palestinian politics coming down to Islamists vs. secularists faces yet another reality check.
