PMW in the Media

PMW asks scouts to cancel Palestinian membership over terror promotion

“We would like to bring to your attention that the Palestinian Scout Association (PSA), which six months ago was accepted as a full member in the World Organization of the Scout Movement, is training its scout leaders to see a cold-blooded terrorist murderer as their role model,” Itamar Marcus, director of Palestinian Media Watch, wrote in an email to the World Scout Movement.

Scouts challenge PMW evidence of terror glorification by official Palestine chapter

Palestinian Media Watch, an Israeli group that monitors what it says is incitement in Palestinian media and society, rejected the scout movement's conclusions... In a letter to the movement, it said it had found overwhelming evidence that the two Palestinian scouting groups work closely with one another, including dozens of pictures identifying the same people as leaders of both organizations.

PMW evidence contradicts statements made by the world scout body

Palestinian Media Watch director Itamar Marcus demanded “concrete evidence” from the WOSM to prove that the course had nothing to do with the PSA. “Until we are given evidence otherwise, will assume the information on the PSA website is correct and that this is a PSA course,” Marcus wrote in a letter to Stephen Peck from the WOSM.

PMW report triggers probe into misuse of German federal aid to PA

[...] Israeli NGO Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) in 2015 claimed that western donor countries were still giving the PA more than a billion dollars, with the understanding that the PA has stopped paying salaries to terrorists. When Itamar Marcus, the director of PMW, presented his findings to Dutch, British, and German parliamentarians...

Hamodia praises PMW for exposing PA antisemitism

“In its just-released annual report on religious freedom, the State Department cited the Palestinian Authority’s official media for presenting anti-Semitic material… To the uninitiated, the State Department’s conclusion might not appear like much of a revelation, thanks to organizations like Itamar Marcus’ Palestinian Media Watch.”

Newsweek on PMW's coverage of Fatah boasting about killing 11,000 Israelis

The political party of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas bragged about its killing of Israelis... The post was translated by Israeli media watchdog Palestinian Media Watch, which said that Fatah issued a similar claim on its Facebook page in 2014. (Aug. 5, 2016)

NY Times reports on PMW bulletin: Fatah brags about killing 11,000 Israelis

The party of President Mahmoud Abbas listed one of its main achievements as having “killed 11,000 Israelis.” The post garnered additional attention after it was translated into English by Palestinian Media Watch, an organization that monitors anti-Israel and anti-Semitic statements in the Arab news media. (Aug. 4, 2016)

Interview with PMW director Itamar Marcus on Abbas' so-called support for freedom of the press

The head of an Israel-based research organization ridiculed PA President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday for “creating, as policy, a virtual reality in which all truth is turned upside down.” Itamar Marcus, founder and director of Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), was referring to a report in the official PA daily on Tuesday that Abbas had declared that he was going “to strengthen the freedom of the press in the Arab world, and decided that August 1 will be Freedom of Opinion and Speech Day in Palestine.”

Boston Globe reports on PMW's report exposing PA Olympic official's terror support

"In a new report, Palestinian Media Watch has documented multiple examples of [Chairman of the Palestine Olympic Committee] Rajoub’s praise for terrorism and incitement to murder... Palestinian athletes deserve a better leader than Rajoub, a man so toxic with hatred that he applauds terror attacks and denounces games that bring Arab and Jewish kids together."

The Australian reports on PMW report exposing PA Olympic official's terror support

There is no chance for peace... so long as obdurate haters such as Rajoub are in charge of the Palestine Olympic Committee... Australian fellow travellers cannot plead ignorance of the motives of appalling men such as Rajoub, a member of the Fatah Central Committee. True, Palestinian leaders seldom make such statements in English. Yet the glorification of terrorists and the anti-Semitism that feature daily in official Palestinian media is readily available in English, online, thanks to the diligence of Palestinian Media Watch.

Daily Mail reports on PMW findings about PA TV praise for terrorist who butchered two female hikers

"Kifah Ghneimat and Iyad Fataftah attacked British-Israeli Kay Wilson and American Kristine Luken in 2010. Luken did not survive. Ghneimat was apparently described as a 'heroic prisoner' in June by a television host, who also spoke with the man's mother. The segment was translated by Palestinian Media Watch (PMW)."

Fox News reports on PMW’s findings about PA TV’s praise of terrorist who butchered hikers

"Itamar Marcus, director of Palestinian Media Watch, said Palestinian terrorists are idolized in their communities. 'When children see all this honor being bestowed on terrorists, they want to be honored too,' Marcus told FoxNews.com."

Article in Jewish Journal cites PMW documentation as proof of PA hate education leading to violence

"How... do you describe the condition of a mind or a heart that murders a young girl in her bedroom? Unfortunately, the Senate hearing [with Hilary Clinton in 2007] failed to stop this poison, as PMW has been as busy as ever monitoring the scourge of Jew-hatred in Palestinian society."

Bloomberg View op-ed about PA salaries to terrorists cites PMW documentation

"[A terrorist's] mother told a local news outlet: 'My son is a hero. He made me proud. My son died as a martyr defending Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque,' according to a translation from Palestinian Media Watch."

Op-ed in Washington Post cites PMW findings about terrorist who killed 13-year-old girl

Haaretz article credits PMW for exposing first iteration of PA libel that settler rabbis called to poison Palestinian water

Mahmoud Abbas... repeated the nonsense in a “report” that the chairman of the “Settlements Council” had ordered the poisoning of Palestinian wells... Palestinian Media Watch located a report broadcast by the official Palestinian television station on June 20, which asserted that an Israeli human rights organization had “revealed” the order by a rabbi named Shlomo Melamed. But there is no organization called the Settlements Council, and there is no rabbi named Shlomo Melamed.

Commentary magazine calls PMW’s website “essential” for learning about Antisemitism in official Palestinian media

"Of course, the 'various media outlets' that spread the canard about Jews planning to poison Palestinian wells are run by the same Palestinian Authority over which Abbas rules... Far from descending uncharacteristically into hate, Abbas and the PA have a long record of engaging in anti-Semitic incitement. As anyone who reads essential websites like Palestine Media Watch (palwatch.org)[knows]."

PMW extensively cited in Huffington Post article about PA support for terror against Israelis

"In the Palestinian Territories, the organization Palestinian Media Watch compiled a list of 20 local schools that are named after terrorists, including Dalal Mughrabi, the actor behind the worst terror attack in Israeli history."
