Abbas condemns terror: “We will not turn to violence. We fight violence and terror”
Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida - Dec. 25, 2018

“[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas participated in a Christmas meal at the Franciscan monastery in Bethlehem yesterday evening [Dec. 24, 2018]…
The president said in his speech during the meal that… His Honor [US] President [Donald] Trump took initiatives that completely contradict the decisions of the international institutions when he recognized unified Jerusalem as the State of Israel’s capital…
The president emphasized: ‘We are not enemies of anyone, and we are not enemies of the US. We are interested in America’s friendship and good relations with it, but it must treat us fairly. We want nothing more than this – just that it be fair and implement every one of the many decisions made by the UN…’ The president added: ‘We will not despair, we will not tire, and we will not turn to violence. We fight violence and terror, as every respectable state in the world fights them. There are 83 security protocols between us and the states of the world, and this means that we are fighting terror together with these states, prime among them the US. Terror has no religion, nation, or ethnicity, and it is hostile to humanity.’”

US recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel - On Dec. 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Trump added that the final borders of Jerusalem will be determined during negotiations.
The US embassy was transferred from Tel Aviv and opened in Jerusalem on May 14, 2018, the anniversary of Israel's declaration of independence in 1948 according to the Gregorian calendar.
