Abbas’ deputy says “resistance in all forms” is a “legal right,” – “all forms” includes the use of violence

[Q:] You said that the world is waiting to understand [US President Donald] Trump, but can the Palestinians wait any more after 20 years of negotiations? Isn't it necessary to go in a different direction?
[Fatah Deputy Chairman and Fatah Central Committee member Mahmoud Al-Aloul:] Negotiations are necessary in every conflict, here or anywhere else in the world. There is a conflict with this occupation, and this is a bitter conflict that has lasted for years. When we felt the negotiations were absurd, we stopped them. We will manage this conflict in all of its forms.
[Q:] However, you stopped the negotiations without any alternatives. There are those who are calling the resistance the alternative.
[Al-Aloul:] The resistance is legal, and the main points of Fatah's political statement say that the resistance, in all of its forms (i.e., term used by Palestinians to refer to means that included violence), is a legal right. However, each stage has an appropriate form. At this stage, the appropriate form is popular resistance (i.e., Palestinian leaders have used this term to refer to violence -Ed). We see this and are using it.
[Q:] Do you see that popular resistance exists?
[Al-Aloul:] There is present, impressive, and respectable popular resistance in dozens of places. However, a greater effort must be invested in order to awaken it and to show its ability to apply pressure. It must be comprehensive in order to become a way of life. We want it on the ground and as a way of life."
The terms "all means," "peaceful uprising/resistance,” and “popular uprising/resistance " are often used by PA leaders to refer to events that include violence and deadly terror against Israeli civilians such as rock-throwing, stabbings and even shootings.
