Terrorist who murdered a teenager is a “hero,” and "we bow before him" declares Fatah

Headline: “The Fatah Movement’s Tyre branch participated in marking World Jerusalem Day at Al-Shabriha”

“At the invitation and call of the refugee camp activity committees, a delegation of the Fatah Movement’s Tyre branch led by leadership member and director of political relations Jilal Abu Shihab, director of information Muhammad Biqa’i, and members of the coastal branch participated today, Thursday, May 6, 2021, in marking World Jerusalem Day, which is celebrated on the last Friday of [the Muslim fasting] month of Ramadan each year as a sign of support for the residents of Jerusalem who are rising up.

As part of the event, Jilal Abu Shihab gave a speech on behalf of Palestine, the speech of the movement of Palestinian history, Fatah, in place of Tyre branch organizational and military leader Tawfiq Abdallah, in which he conveyed Tawfiq Abdallah’s blessings to those present and said: … ‘Today we bow before those carrying out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict over land claimed to be Islamic) in Jerusalem who stood against the metal detectors and security cameras that the Zionist occupation placed to prevent the entry of the worshippers into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque (refers to Arab riots in July 2017; see note below -Ed.). We bow before hero Muntasir Shalabi (i.e., terrorist, murdered 1 person) who attacked Zionist soldiers and settlers (sic., Shalabi shot three 19-year-old students) at the Zatara checkpoint in the West Bank. We bow before the Palestinian women who are preparing [Ramadan] fast breaking meals for those carrying out Ribat in holy Jerusalem.’”

The mention of "metal detectors and security cameras" refers to Israeli security measures at the Temple Mount, including metal detectors at the entrances, following an attack there on July 14, 2017, in which 2 Israeli border police officers were murdered by 3 Israeli Arab terrorists. On July 24, 2017, Israel decided to remove the metal detectors and security cameras it had placed at the site. The PA continued to demand that all measures including inspections at the entrances be removed, and Palestinians continued to riot. On July 27, 2017, PA religious leaders declared that all Israeli measures had been removed.
