PA Official: “more than 60% of the Martyrs... since 2000 to this day are Fatah members”

“The [National] Association of the Families of the Martyrs of Palestine strongly condemned the lowly attacks being carried out by a number of defecting groups against our national symbols and figures and historical national leaders.

In a statement today, Thursday [July 6, 2023], Secretary-General of the association Muhammad Sbeihat said… that our people will thwart all the attempts by the Hamas Movement and its propaganda mouthpieces to harm the Fatah Movement, its members, and the Palestinian [PA] Security Forces. He reminded that more than 60% of the Martyrs who have sacrificed their blood since 2000 to this very day are Fatah members, while the Security Forces have sacrificed hundreds of Martyrs from their best members from the 1996 [Western Wall] Tunnel Intifada (see note below -Ed.) until now.”

The Western Wall Tunnel Intifada - Three days of PA terror attacks on Israeli civilians and military in September 1996, to protest Israel's opening an excavated tunnel adjacent to the base of the Temple Mount. The tunnel is an underground continuation of what is exposed today of the Western Wall. The terror was led by Arafat's security services.
