Director of the Yasser Arafat Foundation Ahmed Sobeh: “When [the child] cuts and pastes while drawing, he needs to put Rafah [in Gaza] next to Jenin [in the West Bank], Nablus next to Gaza, Nazareth (i.e., an Israeli city) next to Jericho, Abu Jihad next to Abu Iyad (i.e., arch-terrorists). There are a lot of things like this. [The child] enjoys the national atmosphere that is essential to strengthen his idea and understanding of his history, his cause and his symbols. This is exactly what we are aiming for.”

Abu Jihad (Khalil Al-Wazir) - was a founder of Fatah and deputy to Yasser Arafat. He headed the PLO terror organization's military wing and also planned many deadly Fatah terror attacks in the 1960’s - 1980’s. These attacks, in which a total of 125 Israelis were murdered, included the Coastal Road attack that (until Oct. 7, 2023) was the most lethal in Israeli history - the hijacking of a bus and murder of 37 civilians, 12 of them children.

Abu Iyad (Salah Khalaf) - PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat’s deputy, one of the founders of Fatah, and head of the terror organization Black September, a secret branch of Fatah. Attacks he planned include the murder of 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics (Sept. 5, 1972) and the murder of two American diplomats in Sudan (March 1, 1973). It is commonly assumed that his assassin, a former Fatah bodyguard, was sent by the Abu Nidal Organization, a rival Palestinian faction.

The Yasser Arafat Foundation is, according to the foundation’s website, "an independent and non-profit organization" that "receives governmental support and undertakes functions of governmental nature related to the preservation of the heritage of the [late PLO] President [Arafat]." The foundation emphasizes that "it enjoys legal, fiscal, and administrative independence," despite the fact that they receive "governmental allocations" of funding. Likewise, the "honorary president" of the foundation "is the president of the Executive Committee of the PLO/President of the Palestinian National Authority" - meaning the current foundation president is PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. The honorary president approves membership on the foundation's Board of Trustees. At the time of writing, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Special Representative Nabil Shaath is Chairman of the Board of Directors, and several PA, Fatah, and PLO officials are on the Board of Trustees. The foundation was established in 2007 via Presidential decree. [The Yasser Arafat Foundation, http://www.yaf.ps/?url=posts/show/541/The_Foundation, accessed January, 2022]
