PA: Israel allows Jewish extremists to desecrate Al-Aqsa Mosque

The government warned against calls from organizations of the Jews’ alleged Temple and from activists of the Likud – the occupation state’s rightwing ruling party -- for widespread participation in invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque (any presence of Jews on the Temple Mount is considered an "invasion." However, all visitors are subject to rigorous security checks by Israeli security guards before being granted access to the Temple Mount. - Ed. ) [These invasions] will last an entire week, starting tomorrow, Thursday, on the anniversary of what is called The Ascent to the Temple Mount (the Temple Mount Riots, Oct. 8, 1990).
The [PA] government asserted that the Israeli government’s silence and the fact that it enables extremists protected by occupation forces to desecrate the Al-Aqsa Mosque’s plazas will undermine stability and drag the region into a cycle of violence.”
Note: On October 8, 1990, members of the “Temple Mount Faithful” fringe Jewish group set out to lay a cornerstone for the Third temple. They were removed by Israeli police within minutes, but Arabs on the mount rioted, pelting police and Jewish worshippers at the Western Wall with stones. Israeli police fired into the Arab crowd, and in the ensuing fight, 18 (some sources say as many as 23) Arabs were killed and approximately 150 were wounded. 19 Israeli policemen and nine Jewish worshippers were injured as well.
