Holocaust denial and distortion
Holocaust desecration, denial, and abuse, have all been components of Palestinian Authority ideology. Palestinians from both Fatah and Hamas have accused Israel of burning Palestinians in ovens, and alternatively have accused Zionists of committing the Holocaust against Jews for political, financial or social gain. A PA TV children’s broadcast taught that Israel burned Palestinians in ovens, and at an exhibit in Gaza children put dolls, representing Palestinian children, in a model oven adorned with a Star of David and a swastika. A PA daily wrote: "The exhibit includes a large oven and inside it small [Palestinian] children are being burned; the picture speaks for itself,” as if the exhibit was documenting something true. [Al-Ayyam, March 20, 2008] The event was sponsored by the Palestinian “National Committee for Defense of Children from the Holocaust.”

A senior Palestinian academic taught adults on PA TV: “There was no Dachau, no Auschwitz; these were disinfecting sites.” A Hamas TV documentary explained that it was Jewish leaders who planned the Holocaust, in order to eliminate Jews who were "disabled and handicapped”.

A crossword puzzle clue in the official PA daily identified “Yad Vashem” (Israel’s Holocaust memorial) as a “Center for the Holocaust and Lies.” The same PA daily has published many articles denying the Holocaust, including one that termed the Holocaust a “hen laying golden eggs.”

Schoolbooks produced by the Palestinian Ministry of Education teach the history of World War II in great detail except for the history of the Holocaust, which is totally ignored. One history book goes so far as to teach that Nazism was a racist ideology and that there were trials of Nazi war criminals, but it leaves out that Jews were the target of the racism, and the crimes for which the Nazis were on trial.

Palestinian education erases the actual Holocaust from history and usurps the word “Holocaust” or its own wide range of malicious libels.
This video depicts a PA TV children’s play teaching that Israel burned Palestinians in ovens.
"They [Israel] are the ones who did the Holocaust,
their knife cuts to the length and the width of our flesh...
They opened ovens for us, to bake human beings.
They destroyed the villages and burnt the cities.
And when an oven stops burning, they light a hundred [more] ovens.
Their hands are covered with the blood of our children."
[PA TV (Fatah), March 25, 2004]

In addition, admiration of Hitler continues to be a component of the PA world. A PA funded children’s publication published an essay written by a teenage girl admiring Hitler, who told the Palestinian girl in her dream: "I killed them [the Jews] so you would all know
that they are a nation which spreads destruction all over the world." This essay published in 2011, yet in spite of broad international condemnation following PMW’s exposure, it was not removed from the Palestinian educational website Zayzafuna, when we last checked in Oct. 2013.

Since 2012, there have been a number of statements by the PA or PLO officials acknowledging the Holocaust. This has not yet been incorporated into PA formal education.

Libel: Israel imitates Nazi crimes

Op-ed in PA daily compares Israeli Defense Minister to the Nazis
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 22, 2018
“The man of the mafia and the Russian and Israeli bars [Israeli Minister of Defense] Avigdor Liberman is returning to his mafia roots with one difference – now, he carries a thick official stick as the Israeli colonialism state’s minister of war, and imposes his thuggery, racism, and inferiority on the Arab Israeli Parliament members, and Head of the Joint [Arab] List [party] Ayman Odeh in particular. This is due to the fact that the latter attacked the Israeli Police over the assault of the Palestinian and Jewish Israeli demonstrators who demonstrated in Haifa as a sign of resistance to the Israeli death army’s terror on the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip… These statements did not come by coincidence now, but rather they have a connection to the nearing of the parliamentary elections in Israel. This is exactly as Liberman did on the eve of the previous elections for the Israeli Parliament when he wanted to increase the rates of voting. Now he is turning to another way of incitement against the Arab public in general, and not just against Ayman Odeh and the Arab Israeli Parliament members, and in this way he is effectively acting like those similar to him, the Nazis, and is preparing the public opinion on the Zionist Israeli street for [action] against the members of the Palestinian people with Israeli citizenship and persecuting them in the different spheres and fields of life within the lawless State of Israel that is hostile to law, coexistence, and peace.”

Fatah spokesman: Israel is worse than Hitler, the Nazis, and fascism
Source: Official PA TV Live, May 14, 2018

Fatah Spokesman and Fatah Revolutionary Council member Osama Al-Qawasmi:
"There is no regime in history – believe me, not Hitler, not the Nazis, not fascism – that has implemented what Israel is implementing against the Palestinians. It conceals these crimes - this Nazism and fascism, and this racist apartheid regime against the Palestinians - in the media under the cloak of ‘democracy,’ that it is ‘an oasis of democracy in the heart of the Arab dictatorships.’ It attempts to present itself in this way with the aid of the US."

PA TV “Israeli affairs expert” acknowledges Holocaust, but compares Israeli government to Nazi Germany
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Apr. 12, 2018
Official PA TV program Palestine This Morning, review of Israeli press headlines with PA TV “Israeli affairs expert” Fayez Abbas

Visual: PA TV’s “Israeli affairs expert” Fayez Abbas presents a cartoon from the Israeli paper Yediot Aharonot for Holocaust Remembrance Day on April 12, 2018.

PA TV “Israeli affairs expert” Fayez Abbas: “The cartoon today [April 12, 2018] in the [Israeli] paper Yediot Aharonot – of course, an elderly female Holocaust survivor with the number that they put on the Jews on her arm. She says to her grandson: ‘Make sure you don’t run out of memory,’ referring to the camera, and he says to her: ‘Don’t worry grandma.’ Of course this describes what is happening now and the memory of the Jews’ Holocaust in Nazi Germany. But the question is whether [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu’s government is learning or drawing lessons from what happened in Germany during that period – the laws, the members of the Aryan race, and the members of the s uperior race – that is what Netanyahu’s government is currently perpetrating.”

Bahraini-Palestinian memorandum to UN Sec-Gen: Palestinians were the real victims of the “large holocaust” in 1948, and are going through a holocaust now
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 18, 2018
"Bahraini, Palestinian, and Arab official and national figures submitted a memorandum to UN Secretary-General António Guterres as a sign of solidarity and support for the rights of the Palestinians in the 1948 territories (i.e., Israel), and this was for International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinians of 1948 (apparently refers to Solidarity Day for Palestinians in Israel, observed on Jan. 30 since 2016, not an official international day – Ed.)… The signatories to the memorandum expressed their absolute support for the affairs of the Arab-Palestinian public, which has remained in its homeland and on its land and the land of its forefathers since the Nakba (i.e., “the catastrophe,” the Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel) that befell the fighting Palestinian people in 1948… In a petition to Guterres, the memorandum said: ' We wish to present before you some of the acts being carried out by those you described as victims of the Holocaust, so that together with you we will be vigilant about the spread of hatred, and so that the world will know who the real victims of the large holocaust that took place in 1948 are, and who the people is that is undergoing a holocaust now, in the 21st century, before the eyes of the entire world.'"

Palestinian official on PA TV: Israel is carrying out “all of the types of Nazism” against Palestinians
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Feb. 12, 2018
Official PA TV program PLO Institutions, on the PA Committee to Resist Settlements and the Wall, hosting Head of the Jordan Valley portfolio in the Tubas district Mutaz Bisharat

Official PA TV host: “My brother Mutaz, would you please give us a description of the activity of the [PA] Committee [to Resist Settlements and the Wall], whether it’s rescuing or strategy- in other words, so that it will motivate the [Palestinian] civilians so that they won’t run from these outposts and these Palestinian regions, which can turn into settlement outposts.”
Head of the Jordan Valley portfolio in the Tubas district Mutaz Bisharat:
“In other words, the emergency plans. There are two types of plans presented by the Committee to Resist Settlements and the Wall. They are first of all the emergency plans, when homes are destroyed as I mentioned, when cars are confiscated, fines are given, and all of that – these are urgent and essential plans, and they protect the Palestinian presence… Development plans are plans that preserve the Palestinian families staying in these Palestinian areas of concentration, even though these areas of concentration have existed originally from before the establishment of the occupation.  In other words, the occupation is committing all of the types of violence against the members of our people, all of the types of Nazism against the members of our people. There is daily expulsion of Palestinian families.”

Op-ed in PA daily: Israel was established by colonialism; Israel’s actions are “1,000 times more despicable than the acts of the forces that it accuses of the disasters that befell the Jews… [including] the horrors of Nazism“
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Feb. 1, 2018
Excerpt of an op-ed by Yahya Rabah, regular columnist for the official PA daily

Headline: “The Palestinian truth is proven on the ground”
“Israel was not created on the basis of the tall tales of the books of the Bible that contradict each other; it was established on the basis of the waves of colonialism that came one after the other, which viewed the Zionist movement as an ideal pawn. It is clear that Israel is declining daily into acts that are 1,000 times more despicable than the acts of the forces that it accuses of the disasters that befell the Jews, starting with the Babylonian exile, on to the Roman exile, and ending with the horrors of Nazism.”

Fatah official: “The idea of a national home for the Jews is a colonialist idea… [Palestinians must] sue Britain as we are talking about a holocaust that has exceeded the Holocaust of the Jewish people in Germany”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Nov. 4, 2017
Fatah Revolutionary Council member Abdallah Kmeil: "When we talk about the Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration), we must also talk- or get into a historical matter. There is the [former British Prime Minister Sir Henry] Campbell-Bannerman document for instance, which is an important document prepared by the former British prime minister, who held a series of meetings with the colonialist states at the time, between 1905 and 1907... They looked at the Arab region and at [the fact] that it should be made ignorant by all means, and should be divided by all means... They must be divided by planting a foreign body in the heart of the Arab homeland... And they talked about Israel or the Jews being the ones who need to be in this region. If so, the idea of a national home for the Jews is a colonialist idea...
[Regarding Britain's celebration of the Balfour Declaration,] I have said that there is no choice but for the Palestinian steps to continue. In other words some of these processions, at least, certainly suing Britain. There is no choice but to sue Britain as we are talking about a holocaust that has exceeded the Holocaust of the Jewish people in Germany. This is a holocaust of the Palestinian people and a holocaust of the Palestinian national rights by making the [Balfour] Promise, and this is a text that ridicules the Palestinian people…"

PA TV guest: Israel education system is “teaching a whole generation hate, fascism, and even a bit more than fascism, which approaches Nazism”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Nov. 1, 2017
Official PA TV program Palestine This Morning, in which it is claimed that Israel is raising a generation of inciters and racists, hosting PA TV “Israeli Affairs Expert” Fayez Abbas

PA TV “Israeli Affairs Expert” Fayez Abbas: (After reading an article from the Israeli newspaper Haaretz –Ed.) “There is an Israeli minister named Naftali Bennett, the minister of education, who provides an education to children. He always claims that the Palestinians are the people who incite the most, greatly inciting, etc. What did the clerks that he appointed to the Ministry of Education decide? They decided to revoke the ban on writing racist and inciting answers in the [civics] matriculation exams (See note below –Ed.)…
At the moment they allow writing racist and inciting answers freely, and I think that whoever is more extremist in [their answer] will receive a better grade. This is how it is in Israel. The Minister of Education incites..."
Official PA TV host: “The racism, the extremism, [the call] to extremism.”
Fayez Abbas: “Not racism, it is much more than racism. It is not just racism. Here they are teaching a whole generation hate, fascism, and even a bit more than fascism, which approaches Nazism. Since he is a Jew [and influenced by] incitement, [he thinks] that those who are not Jews are slaves..."

Senior Fatah official Rajoub: Israel “works according to a fascist governmental plan, a government that is typical of Nazism”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Oct. 29, 2017

Fatah Central Committee Secretary and Chairman of the Palestinian Football Association (PFA) Jibril Rajoub:
"This is a blatant violation when they [Israelis] organize an official [football] league on lands that are not Israeli lands. Even the Israel [Football] Association did not dare to claim: “These lands belong to us.” The one [Israel] who brings in politics and makes sport political is the one who works according to a fascist governmental plan, a government that is typical of Nazism. We have rights, and we will continue to demand them at the FIFA court in accordance with all the laws and regulations, and also the laws of Switzerland where FIFA is located."

Fatah official: Israel's conduct in the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem is “a distorted model, even for the Nazis”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Sept. 21, 2017

Official PA TV program
State of Politics, hosting Fatah Central Committee Secretary Jibril Rajoub

Fatah Central Committee Secretary Jibril Rajoub: "[Abbas' speech at the UN] was by an angry leader, not a desperate one. He did not curse anybody. He even talked about the racist and fascist villains politely, as befits a leader. I say to our brother Fawzi Barhoum (of Hamas): Abbas is speaking to a world a part of which is convinced that the fascist occupation is the victim and we are the criminals. Indeed, this is a fascist and racist occupation, and what is happening in the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem is a distorted model, even for the Nazis."

(Rajoub speaks about planned activities in Arab countries including a football competition in which Palestinian teams will take part and meet with local teams as a sign of unity with the Palestinians –Ed.)
This is a cultural expression and a deep and serious message to the world that it must stand against the new Nazis who are engaged in official terror.”

Jibril Rajoub also holds the following positions: Chairman of the Palestinian Football Association, Chairman of the Palestine Olympic Committee, and Chairman of the Palestinian Scout Association (PSA).

Fatah official: Israel has a “fascist and racist” government, “which has surpassed the Nazis” in its actions against the Palestinians
Source: Wattan (independent Palestinian news agency)‎, May 16, 2017
Headline: “Video: Muhaisen calls on the members of our people to block the settlers’ roads”

Fatah Central Committee member, Fatah Commissioner of Mobilization and Organization in the West Bank, and PLO Central Council member Dr. Jamal Muhaisen: “We warn the Israeli government that if any harm befalls one of our prisoners in the prisons there will be a response in the Palestinian street, and not only the Palestinians will be harmed by it, but also the settlers… We are all unified behind the prisoners’ demands. Therefore we say that in order to force this government to accede to the demands of our prisoners – whose will power will not be broken – our young people and the members of our people must go out to the bypass roads to block all of the roads against the settlers, for it is known that this is a government of settlers… We say to the whole world that the time has come to pressure this fascist and racist government, which has surpassed the Nazis in its acts against the members of our people and our prisoners.”

Official PA daily accuses Israel of "reconstructing the Holocaust against the Palestinians"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 1, 2017
Headline: “Israel’s future”
Excerpt of an op-ed by Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul, regular columnist of the official PA daily
“While Israel is celebrating 69 years since its establishment on the ruins of the Palestinian people’s Nakba (i.e., “the catastrophe,” the Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel), many questions arise that focus on one central point: What is the future of this state? Will it have a future if its political and military leadership continues [to choose] the option of war, death, and killing peace? For how long can Israel rebel and come out against international law and regional and global peace? And will reconstructing the Holocaust against the Palestinians help Israel survive? ...
Providing the answers remains [the role of] the political, cultural, scientific, military, and economic elite in the State of Israel; perhaps they will reach an informed and correct conclusion that will protect the future of all the peoples of the region and prevent Israel’s suicide.”

Fatah official: Israel treats Palestinians and Palestinian prisoners worse than the Nazis treated the Jews, threatens "violent response"

Fatah Central Committee member, Fatah Commissioner of Mobilization and Organization in the West Bank, and PLO Central Council member Dr. Jamal Muhaisen:
“(Muhaisen talks about the prisoner hunger strike that began on April 17, 2017 –Ed.) There will be a violent response against the Israeli occupation if one of our heroes dies as a Martyr (Shahid) in prison… This is a fascist leadership that enjoys the suffering of the Palestinian people, attempts to imitate the Nazis in their behavior towards the Jews in World War II, and also sometimes surpasses [the Nazis’] behavior towards our people and our prisoners.”

“Deputy District Governor of Ramallah and El-Bireh Hamdan Barghouti said: ‘The prisoners have sacrificed years of their lives so that we will live in dignity. The solidarity events must continue in order to support the prisoners, especially in their campaign against the Israeli policy against them, and especially in light of the fact that their demands are legitimate.’
He noted that the Israeli ministers are inciting against the prisoners and demanding to execute them (see note –Ed.), and emphasized that the occupation is practicing Nazism against our prisoners.”

PMW could find no call by any Israeli minister to execute terrorist prisoners. This claim apparently refers to statements by Israeli Minister of Intelligence and Transportation Yisrael Katz on March 6 and 7, 2017, when he said that terrorist Marwan Barghouti, who orchestrated three shooting attacks in which 5 were murdered, should have been sentenced to the death penalty rather than life imprisonment.

PLO official: Israeli MPs' statements against terrorist Marwan Barghouti are "monstrous," "similar to the claims of Nazi leaders," and "from them wafts a smell of hate, racism, and corruption"
Source: Facebook page of the PLO Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs, Apr. 17, 2017
Text posted on the Facebook page of the PLO Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs
Posted text: “Director of [PLO] Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake said that the Israeli ministers’ statements against prisoner Marwan Barghouti (i.e., terrorist who orchestrated three shooting attacks in which 5 were murdered), the demand to execute him (see note below –Ed.), and the incitement against the prisoners (PMW could find no basis for claims of incitement –Ed.) are monstrous statements that are similar to the statements of the Nazi leaders , and from them wafts a smell of hate, racism, and corruption.
Karake noted that these statements, which were accompanied by arbitrary steps of oppression against the [hunger] strikers… point to an official Israeli political decision to suppress the strike and break the willpower of the strikers, which will lead to an explosion of the situation and an escalation within and outside of the prisons.
Karake held the occupation fully responsible for the consequences of the strike and its likely results. He said that the incitement by Israel against the prisoners reminds us of Germany in 1933, and that the present government in Israel has begun to constitute a danger to security and peace in the region, in that it has opened a third front against the defenseless prisoners and against their legitimate humanitarian demands.
He also mentioned the series of extremist inciting statements against the prisoners, who have been described as poisonous insects, and the calls to spray them with gas, throw them in to the Dead Sea, and establish extermination camps for the prisoners." (PMW has found no basis for these claims –Ed.)

Op-ed by PLO official glorifies imprisoned terrorist Marwan Barghouti, demonizes Israel

Headline: “Prisoner Marwan Barghouti: I hope [to achieve] Martyrdom-death (Shahada) twice for this great people”
“Prisoner Marwan Barghouti (i.e., terrorist who orchestrated three shooting attacks in which 5 were murdered) has decided to lead the hunger strike that is not limited in time on April 17, 2017, in conjunction with the start of the Palestinian Prisoner’s Day activities. He called this step The Battle of Freedom and Dignity. In a statement he presented a series of humanitarian demands connected to improving the living conditions of all the male and female prisoners who are in the prisons.
Fifteen years after he was kidnapped and arrested by the occupation forces, Barghouti has understood that the occupation government is trying to decide the battle against the prisoners in the prisons by controlling them and turning them into mere ghosts and numbers, and by negating their symbolism as legal fighters and prisoners of freedom who have fought and sacrificed for freedom, dignity, and independence…"

Official PA daily: "The Israeli ethnic cleansing state" is rooted in "fascism and Nazism"
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Mar. 11, 2017
Headline: "The call of the Muezzin on the firing line"
Op-ed article by Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul, regular columnist for the official PA daily
“Last Wednesday [March 8, 2017] the Muezzin Law proposal was finally approved in a first reading in the Israeli Parliament, reflecting the Israeli insistence on deepening the racism against everything connected to the Muslim and Christian Palestinians…
The Israeli ethnic cleansing state - which claims to be democratic, protecting religious ceremonies, and adhering to international law - time after time verifies that it is a completely racist state that refuses to accept the other, the Palestinian and Arab owners of the land and their cultural, national, and religious heritage…
The unrestrained racist rampage just pushes the situation in rapid steps towards the imposing of a religious war and distancing from the original national and cultural basis of the conflict. It is also violating the international conventions, norms, and laws, and particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949, and is rooting the expressions of fascism and Nazism in Israeli society."

On Feb. 12, 2017, a bill to ban religious institutions from broadcasting over loudspeakers between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. was authorized by the Israeli Ministerial Committee for Legislation and is now pending parliamentary approval.
