Proposed amendment to prisoners' law affects monthly salaries for prisoners

“Minister for Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake expressed his satisfaction at the Palestinian government’s approval of four suggested amendments to the Prisoners and Released Prisoners Law (19) of 2004 that are aimed at improving the prisoners’ situation and that of their families. The revisions will take effect beginning in early 2011 and will be included in the general Palestinian government budget.
The four amendments are: A proposed amendment dealing with monthly salaries paid to a prisoner and his family; a proposed amendment concerning prisoners’ legal expenses; a proposed amendment concerning prisoners’ needs while incarcerated; and a proposed amendment dealing with released prisoners’ exemptions from tuition, health insurance payments, and payment for professional training.”
