The Palestine Today Channel interviewed Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi.
Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi: “We and Hamas – it’s true we are political rivals, but our goal is one, and our enemy is one. Everyone must understand that the enemy of all the groups of the Palestinian people is the Israeli occupation, and not one organization or another. True, we are vying for the [support of] the Palestinian public – but for a [common] goal, which is the liberation of the land and the liberation of the Palestinian people and the establishment of our independent Palestinian state… The [PA] Security Forces are the ones who led the second Intifada (i.e., PA terror campaign 2000-2005) and, before that, the Tunnel Intifada (i.e., the Western Wall Tunnel clashes – 3 days of Palestinian-Israeli fighting in September 1996), and at this very moment, there are over 300 or 400 Palestinian officers from all the Security Forces in prison. They include prisoners who have received sentences of over 200 or 300 years. And there are over 200 Martyrs (Shahids). All the headquarters of the Security Forces were destroyed. These are national Security Forces, Security Forces with a history of struggle.”
