PLO launches campaign against Balfour Declaration, calls Israel “colonialist project” of Britain

Director of the Department for Refugee Affairs Tayseer Khaled said that… the department is preparing, through intensive daily discussions with the communities in the diaspora, to launch a broad campaign from Nov. 2, 2016, to Nov. 2, 2017, which will include different activities that will extend over the course of an entire year, in order to make the international community, and Britain in particular, face its historical responsibilities and to call on it to atone for the great crime that it perpetrated and to correct the historical injustice done to the Palestinian people.
Khaled said: 'The Balfour Promise is at the base of a colonialist project that was dressed in a false religious and mythical cover in order to realize the colonialist aspirations of Britain and its stepdaughter, the Zionist movement, which to this day is connected through its colonialist project – the State of Israel – to the imperialist interests and their current leader, the US.'"
The Balfour Declaration of Nov. 2, 1917 was a letter from British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Baron Rothschild stating that “His Majesty's government views with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people” and is seen as the basis for later international commitments to establish the State of Israel.
