“During the [Palestinian] Martyrs’ Day ceremony that was held by the National Committee of Martyrs’ (Shahids) Relatives and the [PLO ] National Association of the Martyrs’ Families [of Palestine]… PLO Executive Committee member Zakariya Al-Agha gave a speech…

Likewise, he emphasized that Palestinian Martyrs’ Day is also Arab Martyrs’ Day and the day of leader [former Egyptian President] Gamal Abdel Nasser, [former Algerian] President Houari Boumediene, [former Iraqi] President Saddam Hussein, and Pan-Arab fighter [former Lebanese politician] Kamal Jumblatt. He clarified that simultaneously to raising the memory of these great leaders, [we are] renewing the promise and the loyalty to their memory and the memory of all of the Martyrs of Palestine and of the Arab nation.

Al-Agha said that Martyrs’ Day comes at a time when the Jerusalem Intifada (‎‎Palestinian euphemism for several months of Palestinian terror attacks against Israelis 2015 - 2016 -Ed.) still continues, as a result of the continuation of the aggression, occupation, repeated attacks on our Islamic and Christian holy sites, and criminal acts that are taking place in the holy city [of Jerusalem] – the acts of murder, the arrests, and the acts of Judaization – and also as a result of the continuation of the destructive settlement enterprise. [He added that] therefore the struggle of our people continues until realization of the dream of the Palestinian state with full sovereignty, whose capital is Jerusalem…

[PA] Minister of Labor Ma’moun Abu Shahla gave a speech on behalf of [PA] Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, in which he conveyed the blessings of the government to the families of the Martyrs…

He mentioned the last will of the three Martyrs Fuad Hijazi, Muhammad Jamjoum, and Ataa Al-Zir (i.e., terrorists who murdered Jews in the 1929 Hebron Massacre), [which they conveyed] the day before June 17, 1960 (sic., 1930), the day of their execution.
