PA Minister of Religious Affairs instructs mosque preachers to encourage participation in activities condemning “ominous” Balfour Declaration

Headline: “Ida’is calls on the Friday preachers to urge the civilians to participate in the activities condemning the Balfour Promise”
“[PA] Minister of Religious Affairs Yusuf Ida’is called on all of the mosque preachers to urge the civilians to participate in the activities condemning the ominous Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration) during the Friday sermons tomorrow [Oct. 27, 2017].
Ida’is said in a press release today (Thursday) [Oct. 26, 2017]: ‘The Arabs and Muslims must act immediately to provide political, media, and financial support to the Palestinian cause, as a religious duty, and as a message of support for the Palestinians, because Jerusalem and the Palestinian holy sites do not belong only to the Palestinians, but rather to all of the Arabs and Muslims.’”

The Balfour Declaration of Nov. 2, 1917 was a letter from British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Baron Rothschild stating that “His Majesty's government views with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.” In 1922, the League of Nations adopted this and made the British Mandate “responsible for putting into effect the declaration,” which led to the UN vote in 1947 and the establishment of the State of Israel.
