“The occupation police recommend giving one of its people and a volunteer medals as a mark of appreciation for killing Bashar Masalha, (22 years old) [parentheses in source], after he carried out a stabbing operation in Jaffa in March [2016]. This was reported yesterday [May 1, 2016] by the Hebrew news website Walla. Masalha, from the village of Hijja in the Qalqilya district, carried out an operation during which he passed through the streets of Jaffa, stabbed 12 Israelis, and killed one American former soldier, who worked for a security company and was visiting the area. Afterwards he [Masalha] died as a Martyr (Shahid). In response to the recommendation, a top official in the Tel Aviv police said: ‘Those who killed Masalha prevented additional wounded from among the Israeli ranks.’ This is despite a video filmed by a passerby – in which he documents Masalha’s execution – which showed that he was wounded and unable to move, and no longer posed any danger.”
