PA Grand Mufti calls on Palestinians to carry out Ribat at the Al-Aqsa Mosque “to stop those [i.e., Israelis] who wish to defile and attack it”

Headline: "The grand mufti called to increase the visits to the Al-Aqsa Mosque"
"Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories and preacher at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad Hussein called on everyone who can to come to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, especially from Jerusalem and its surroundings and from among the Palestinians of 1948 (i.e., Palestinians living in Israel), to do so, in order to carry out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) and pray there in order to stop those who wish to defile and attack it. This is due to the measures being taken by the occupation against it and those who visit it, and the ban on those [Palestinians who are] 50 and under to enter it."

The PA and its leaders consider all of the Temple Mount an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore they view any presence of Jews on the mount as an "invasion." It should be noted that Jews who visit the Temple Mount only enter some sections of the open areas, and do not enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock.
