PNC: During Israel’s establishment, “most atrocious massacres were committed against our people, and... our people were expelled from its land by the Zionist gangs, under the auspices… of the British Mandate government”

Headline: “The National Council demands that Britain atone for the sin of the Balfour Promise"
“The Palestinian National Council (i.e., the legislative body of the PLO) demanded that Britain, which gave the ominous Balfour Promise (i.e, Declaration), bear the legal and moral responsibility for all the tragedies that have befallen the Palestinian people…
In an announcement that it published today (Tuesday) [Nov. 1, 2016], the Palestinian National Council emphasized that it is important to unify the efforts of the Palestinians, the Arabs, and people of conscience living in the world. This is in order to pressure the government of Britain and to force it to do justice to the Palestinian people and atone for its crime and historical sin against our land and against our people, who have lived in Palestine, they and their forefathers, for thousands of years.
The National Council demanded that the British House of Commons in particular reopen the Balfour Promise file, discuss it, pressure the government of Britain to immediately recognize the State of Palestine, and force it to help the Palestinian people receive all of its rights…
Likewise the council demanded that the Palestinian and Arab institutions, the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, and everyone who identifies with us support the call of [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas to submit a lawsuit against the government of Britain for issuing the Balfour Promise…
The National Council emphasized that our people and our future generations will not forgive and will not have mercy on all those who conspired and caused the uprooting of our people, the loss of its land, and [those who] prevented it from living in freedom and dignity in its homeland.
[The National Council added that] this unprecedented British promise was the main reason that hundreds of thousands of Jews were expelled to Palestine and established settlements in it, that the most atrocious massacres were committed against our people, and that our people were expelled from its land by the Zionist gangs, under the auspices and with the support of the British Mandate government.”

The Balfour Declaration of Nov. 2, 1917 was a letter from British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Baron Rothschild stating that “His Majesty's government views with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people” and is seen as the basis for later international commitments to establish the State of Israel.
