Tulkarem District Governor Abdullah Kamil: “We seek peace, we demand independence – independence, which we will never give up on – independence and freedom, for which the Palestinian people has sacrificed many Martyrs (Shahids), one after the other. Today, we are receiving the five Martyrs. We are proud to receive these five Martyrs and any Martyr who falls into Israel’s hands.”
Al-Fajer TV reporter: “The Israeli media is attacking you for welcoming these Martyrs.”
Tulkarem District Governor Abdullah Kamil: “We are proud, and we are welcoming our Martyrs. They are the ones who gave their lives for Palestine, for freedom and independence. We are not for blood; we are against every drop of blood that is spilled, whether in Palestine or any other nation. Yet at the same time, we are all prepared to die for Palestine. This is the Palestine that dwells in our minds and hearts, and it deserves to be given this red blood, which has formed a sea through which the Palestinian nation has expressed its belonging. By [welcoming] these Martyrs, the Palestinian people has expressed its belonging to this homeland. They have all sacrificed for freedom, for independence and for peace – peace that will fulfill the Palestinian hope and dream… One day, victory will certainly be achieved and the Palestinian state will be established. These Martyrs will be immortalized in our minds and hearts. We will not forget them, because they are more honorable than us all.”

Ma'an, the independent Palestinian news agency, added: “[Tulkarem District Governor Abdullah Kamil] said during the reception ceremony [for the bodies] that the Israeli media’s personal attack on him, with regard to the reception of the heroes’ bodies, will merely strengthen him and bolster his resolve. He said he was proud to welcome the Martyrs and heroes who had fought for the rights of our people, for they have given their blood for their homeland, and that anyone who fights for Palestine is fighting for peace – but not any peace, only peace based on the realization of our people’s rights.”
