Director of PLO Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs: Israeli bill calling for death penalty for terrorists “establishes the Israeli barbarity and the strengthening of racism in Israel”

“Director of PLO Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake said that the agreement in the Israeli extreme right-wing government on the appointment of [Avigdor] Liberman as Minister of Defense in return for supporting the Israeli bill which calls for the execution of [Palestinian] prisoners, establishes the Israeli barbarity and the strengthening of racism in Israel… Karake said that the purpose of this bill and others is to continue negating the struggle’s legitimacy and the legal legitimacy of the prisoners, as freedom prisoners and legal fighters, who fought and sacrificed for their land and its independence. [He noted that] according to international law and UN resolutions, they are prisoners of a national freedom movement and legal fighters, and not criminal prisoners as Israel claims.”
