Fatah praises those carrying out "car rammings" and "stabbings" as having "boldness" and "courage"

Headline: “Wattan publishes a worksheet for the members of the Fatah Revolutionary Council regarding the revolution and the popular resistance, and the internal situation”

“The [independent Palestinian] Wattan news agency has obtained a worksheet from members of the Fatah Revolutionary Council regarding the revolution and the popular resistance (reference to wave of Palestinian terror attacks, September 2015-April 2016 –Ed.), and the internal situation of the movement.

Wattan is publishing the full text as it was received.

The main lesson from the present wave of popular revolution is that our heroic people is a living people with a living and just cause, which has inherited its revolution from [previous] generations, and that all the various [bodies] and factors acting against the revolution have not weakened the willpower of this people and its determination to liberate its land from the occupation. The generation that is now participating in this revolution has grown up under different conditions from those of previous generations, and yet it continues its (i.e., the people’s) will, but through different ways and means that require exceptional personal and collective boldness and courage. All of these have been expressed in the car ramming and stabbing operations carried out by individuals, with the active participation of all parts of our people of all ages, men and women alike, and in the fact that this revolution has spread over the entire homeland – the cities, villages, refugee camps, and the territories occupied in 1948 (i.e., Israel)

In light of the clear lack of a serious and genuine [peace] initiative, and in light of the clear closing of our horizon and the inability to create a significant political breakthrough on the political front, a power must be created that will advance our situation and restore vitality to the Arab-Israeli conflict, and not only that, but it should also be able to produce new data that will facilitate progress toward completing the project of ending the occupation and establishing a state… The creation of this power will only be able to take place through revolutionary and creative embracement of the popular resistance, the escalation of its pace and methods, its diversification in the framework of a clear struggle plan, consistent with the resolutions of the Sixth [Fatah] Conference (conference in 2009 at which Fatah confirmed is adherence to “the armed struggle” –Ed.) and the decisions of the Revolutionary Council which formed Fatah’s basis for this situation, and through clearly and openly endorsing it and abandoning the cautious and shy way of conduct with it, in the following proposed ways :

1. Leading the popular revolution in all its forms, setting up a strategic plan to develop and embrace it through clear national Fatah discourse, including the campaign to boycott Israel and its products on the national and international level.
2. Unification of the media and political discourse in a way appropriate for this stage, exposing the occupation’s acts, and the enlistment of Arab and international support on the popular and official levels.
3. Coordination with the national forces and factions in order to reach a consensus regarding a consolidated national work plan for this revolution to which everyone will be committed.
4. Reformulation of the organizational structure and the higher and lower organizational foundations, and the branches, in a way suitable to this mission.
5. Providing all sources of moral and material support to the popular revolution and our people, and all necessary attention to every one of our people that has been harmed, whether the family of a Martyr (Shahid), a prisoner, a wounded [person], or someone whose home was demolished, damaged, or sealed, or its contents destroyed.”

Israel carries out demolitions of terrorists' houses. According to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "Demolition orders are issued only against the residences of terrorists who commit the most serious offenses" and it is "an act of deterrence meant to discourage Palestinians from carrying out future terror attacks so as to minimize their number.” (Israeli MFA website)

Palestinian terror wave (2015-2016) – Several months of Palestinian violence and terror attacks against Israelis, ‎including stabbings, shootings, throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails, and car rammings. The wave was at its height from October 2015 through March 2016, but one man was killed in September 2015 and sporadic attacks continued after March 2016, including a bus bombing in Jerusalem on April 19, 2016. During the terror wave, Palestinian terrorists murdered 34 people (30 Israelis, 1 Palestinian, 2 Americans, and 1 foreign worker from Eritrea) and injured 400.
