PA and PLO officials glorify imprisoned terrorists as "guardians of the Palestinian dream" and "freedom fighters"

"The [PLO] Commission of Prisoners' Affairs yesterday [Aug. 27, 2017] announced the names of the winners of the 2017 Freedom Prize competition, which is organized every year by the Commission [of Prisoners' Affairs] as part of focusing attention on the prisoners' cause from an artistic, cultural, and human perspective. This was during a ceremony that the commission held... in the presence of Director of [PLO] Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake, District Governor of Ramallah and El-Bireh Laila Ghannam, and [PA] Minister of Culture Ehab Bessaiso...In her speech, Ghannam emphasized that the prisoners are the guardians of the Palestinian dream and the spirit of the Palestinian land. She noted their right to be released from the Israeli cells of oppression, and the troubles of the prisoners and their suffering in prison in a way that is contrary to basic human rights. Karake said: 'The Freedom Prize is a cultural-human campaign whose goal is to respond to the Israeli narrative that misleads and distorts, which presents the prisoners as terrorists.' He emphasized that our prisoners are freedom fighters and people that have fought for their dignity and the freedom of their homeland."
