Fatah: Palestinians may use all “legitimate options” to resist Israel
Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida - June 20, 2013

Headline: “The Fatah Central Committee opposes all pressure and emphasizes its firm stance regarding the demands of the peace process”
“During meetings held yesterday [June 19, 2013] in the presidential compound in Ramallah, led by President Mahmoud Abbas, the Fatah Central Committee stated its opposition to all pressure [put on] our people and its leadership…
Central Committee member and official Fatah spokesperson, Nabil Abu Rudeina… noted that in light of these discussions the Central Committee has emphasized the following: […]
(The article adds that the Committee condemned statements by Israeli MP Naftali Bennet against the two-state solution, and stated that such positions will make international attempts to restart peace negotiations fail.)
In light of this reality, in which the Israeli government operates in the field, the Central Committee emphasizes that the Palestinian people, led by the Fatah Movement, has all legitimate options [at its disposal] as part of our right to resist Israeli occupation and rid ourselves of it forever.”

Note: PA leaders and officials have legitimized Palestinian violence by quoting UN resolution 3236 which "recognizes the right of the Palestinian people to regain its rights by all means." The PA interprets "all means" as including violence against civilians, but has chosen to ignore the continuation of the resolution which states that the use of "all means" should be "in accordance with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations..." The UN Charter prohibits targeting civilians, even in war. Chapter 1, Article 1, opens by saying that the "international disputes" should be resolved "by peaceful means." The Fatah Central Committee's reference to "all legitimate options" may be a reference to this interpretation of UN 3236.
