PA Minister of Jerusalem Affairs calls on Palestinians to carry out Ribat at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, to prevent "Jewish groups" from "invad[ing]" the Mosque on the Jewish day of mourning

“[PA] Minister of Jerusalem Affairs Adnan Al-Husseini… called on the city’s people to show solidarity and to help the Al-Aqsa Mosque’s [Jordanian Waqf] guards and employees, particularly at this stage in which they are subjected to arrest and distancing [from the mosque by the occupation]. Likewise, he called to come and carry out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) at the Al-Aqsa Mosque plazas in the coming days, particularly in light of the calls of the Jewish groups to invade the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the anniversary of what is called the destruction of the Temple (i.e., Tisha B’Av).”

The PA and its leaders consider all of the Temple Mount an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore they view any presence of Jews on the mount as an “invasion.” It should be noted that Jews who visit the Temple Mount only enter some sections of the open areas, and do not enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock.
Tisha B’Av is a Jewish day of mourning commemorating the destruction of the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem (586 BCE and 70 CE) and the forced exile of most of the Jewish people from the land of Israel.
